Out and about

Today has been a busy day, this morning I went into Geelong for the Guild meeting...
one of the beautiful show and tell quilts today

the Easter bonnet parade!!!
After the meeting but before the speaker ( a lady was going to talk about her Vintage quilts) I had to leave as I had kitchen duty at the Seachange Quilters show
here is my Charm Square Sampler hanging in the show

and the Bordered Diamonds quilt with the Samoan fabrics, looks very bright compared to the quilts around it!!

A general view,

and the light is not good, but this is a Michelle Ridgway pattern..the calendar bears, had to sneak the photo so sadly it is not so good!!
Had better head off and get some dinner cooked!!
Happy sewing.

Busy day

Today I decided I just had to get on with it and get these quilts done, so I am happy to say that both quilts are finished, labelled, with hanging sleeves, their bags are made and labelled, just need to give them a good going over with sticky tape to get of the fluff and dog hair!! Then they are ready for the show on the weekend!! Seachange quilters at Barwon Heads...Friday evening until Sunday afternoon this weekend.
I have also motivated myself to finish my name label for the members quilt at Seachange
I used a last piece of fabric from Samoa...hope it fits in with the others!
Ok while I am still motivated I will make a start on the Dresden plate!
Happy sewing.

A bit of this and that

Last night I got organised and finished the quilting on the Aussie Hero quilt, then made the binding and got that sewn on, tonight I need to do the hand sewing
getting there!!!
I have also been working away with the Samoa quilt...have 14 blocks left to go
then the binding, label and hanging sleeve..I hope to remember and attach the hanging sleeve and label before sewing on the binding, that way there is a little less hand sewing to be done later.
I went for a bike ride this morning, it was sunny and calm and again this afternoon to go to the post office
morning ablutions

afternoon waiting for the fishermen to return

such a beautiful day...but now back to the sewing!!
Happy sewing.

FNWF results

We have had people here for the weekend so I am slow getting to do this post, but we had a good weekend so that is the main thing.
On Friday night I sewed up the side bits of the little hexies
and started another one
I also worked on another hexies for the New Hexagon quilt
blogger has decided this photo needs to be sideways but you can still get the idea!! Lol!!
Today I have been doing some more quilting on the Samoa quilt
the supervisor has been in attendance today!!
I have also been working on the Aussie Hero quilt, I put together the boxing kangaroo this afternoon, but wasn't happy with it
I cut out the top leg separately but the double yellow fabric underneath looks really naff, so it was  back to the drawing board and start again!!!!
much happier with this one, so it is now being sewn down. Dinner will be arriving soon in the form of fish and chips, so I had better get ready!!!
Happy sewing.

Today

I have been for a morning walk with the Supervisor, it was lovely down the beach today

I think I was being a  little slow!!!

the supervisor enjoying a morning dip

this afternoon I am back into wrestling this quilt under the machine

and earlier I put the stars together, one had to be stitched and unstitched many times and then I gave up, the seam is staying not quite matched!!!
I think I will head down the beach for a swim soon as it is quite warm here now.
Tonight is
many sewers are signing up over at Cheryll's to have a virtual sew in together...maybe I will finish some hexies.
Happy sewing.

On the road again!!

I spent a few hours in the morning quilting on the Samoa Quilt...which was a challenge from Tania in the Gisborne group, which was unveiled last August!! Yes I am running a bit behind!!!

I love how the flowers pop when you quilt around them.....9 done too scared to count how many more there are to do!! Lol!!

Yesterday afternoon I drove up to Gisborne to catch up with the Gisborne quilting ladies, we had dinner at the Telegraph pub, the food was great and the company wonderful
sadly Pauline had already left so we missed her in the photo.
I worked on some hexies for the New hexagon quilt
there are supposed to be three hexies of one colour and three of another colour..I didn't read the instructions properly, so I have six of the same colour!! Woops!!!
Today I drove back to Port Arlington and caught up with the lovely ladies there, I got some instruction on how to get my seams matching up...failed miserably...so some unpicking needs to be done, but I have some blocks on the way for the next Aussie hero quilt...they look ok if your don't look too close!!!
tomorrow will be unpicking and re sewing day, and also I need to get some more quilting done...never a dull moment around here I can tell you!!!
I nearly forgot, I have started on some more hexies for the hexie quilt...some flowers are going to be multi coloured as I have odd hexies left over....better than not using them I decided.
Well had better away, the chicken is roasted and the veges done, I need to make gravy before it burns!!!!
happy sewing.
