Home again

I have been home again for over two weeks and no blog post! I have had good intentions and then somehow the day runs out.

Some time was spent with this young man

We have a new car, very happy with that

I have has lots of walks on the sunshine by the beach

Some sandwiching has been done in the sun

The pelicans were waiting for fishermen to return with their catch.

I finished a wasgij, took me what felt like ages just doing a bit here and there as time allowed, this was the puzzle

This was the lid box, not what you can see but what someone else can see.

We visited Shane and Rilla in Melbourne to wish Shane a happy birthday, Miffy decided my quilt would be her bed place for the night.

Rilla and I visited an art gallery to get Shane's birthday present, I snapped a few things that took eye

Well after a slow start, a soak in the bath with a book and pizza later can do that to you, I got my act together and finished sewing in the threads on the baby quilt

I got a little further with the Old Time Kaleidoscope block

I finished this book last night and quite enjoyed it, a story of women in the Land Army in the UK, one girl in particular who falls for a German POW.

Earlier in the week I read this one, I enjoyed this more as I followed several women from different walks of life and their experiences in the Land Army.

I am off now to hang up the washing and then see what else needs to be done.

Last Wednesday I went over to Point Lonsdale and had a wander along the sea wall

I had space now and then, there were quite a few people out walking

The Pilot boat was heading back into the bay

It was soon followed by this ship

Back at the car I had a quick look along the dog beach,  no dogs running about at the time, if you follow this beach it takes you to Queenscliff.

Thursday was Anthology block day

I made two blocks using the foundation paper piecing method, they came out the right size!! Yay!!

I have also been working on this cute baby quilt, just a few more endy bits to sew in and it is done. The show and tell theme for Guild this month was a quilt using a panel, so this is perfect. I have free motion quilted around all the animals, and on some of the water lines,

We went into Geelong today, I had to go and have an iron infusion at SJOG hospital which is where we deliver the oncology quilts to, so this finished quilt was delivered at the same time.

I met the recipient of another quilt today, he was so happy. 

I am off to get a Sylvia's Bridal Sampler block made,I completely forgot until Ingrid posted hers on Instagram! Thank goodness it is pizza night so I do not have to cook dinner.

Sunday saw hubby and I walk to the pier and back

the pelicans were off to the fish cleaning table as a fisherman had just set up to clean his fish...free handout coming!!

It was a beautiful sunny morning

scuba divers were having a lesson under the pier

heading back home, the pelicans had moved to the camping ground to get a feed there!

Last night there was a big golden moon...my fuzzy shot between the neighbours trees

Today we have been to the beach between Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff

Taking photos of Shane taking photos, we walked along the beach and then back along the bush track

with glimpses of the water, it was very hard going for me, way too hot for walking,

we went to the nearest beach, which happened to be the dog waking beach

and had two great swims to cool down and then took some sneaky photos of people enjoying the beach with their dogs, this one would NOT give up his ball for it to be thrown.

Well we returned home and found it was 35 deg C...phew!!! Now dinner is ready and we are eating outside, with the air con on inside for when we return.

This afternoon

I have been quilting the baby quilt I started a few weeks ago, the great grandmother of the baby is coming here on the 27th so I thought I should get my skates on and get it finished.

Quite a bit of my time has been spent sitting staring at this trying to work out where the pieces go, this is a wasgij, the picture on the box not what you can see but what someone in the picture can see. Keeps you thinking!

Last Tuesday evening I went with the past Guild president to a Gratitude Garden Party. It was at the Bluebird Foundation in Geelong and they were thanking everyone who had donated/supported them thru the year. The Guild donated quilts to them for their reading programmes at two venues. This drawing was created by the man who teaches the boys street art classes, how clever is that. I hope the Guild will support them again next year.

On Wednesday there was supposed to be a last meeting of the St Leonard's girls, but the venue was closed for a clean up, so we went to Jill s house and got to meet Molly. Molly could no longer live with her owner so Jill is seeing how she fits into their house and gets on with their dog. She is a beautiful quiet cat.

Jill has finished this cushion cover she got as a kit when we heard Margaret Mew speak, it is the most beautiful applique.

Here is Jills dog, after she got over being excited about visitors being in the house and had plenty of back and tummy rubs.

I emptied a gin bottle, not in a day I hasten to add, and decided the bottle was too nice to thrown away, so it has been turned into a light, not really dark enough to see it properly, but you get the idea.

I am off to finish the quilting before the dinner needs to be cooked.
