A visit, a birthday, a finish.

The galahs were busy at the bird box n the weekend, I notice they have made holes in the bottom of the box now.
On Sunday hubby and I went over tot he nature reserve in Ocean Grove to have a walk and look for caches

We saw several grass trees

Wallabies in the trees. this one was eating the leaves from a small gum tree

that furry lump is another wallaby

this one was keeping an eye on us

we saw this plant on the edge of the path, I was surprised to see this as I think it is an insect eating plant and I thought they needed a lot of water to grow, maybe it has taken off since we have had rain. We found all the caches we were looking for too, bonus!!

One little hibiscus plant in the garden had a flower bigger than the plant!

These lovely ladies came for lunch yesterday and brought lunch with them! It was Ingrid's birthday and Kim was visiting from Tassie. Jill came over too but I didn't think to get a photo early enough.

The clamshells are finished and made into a journal cover for Ingrid.

I was very happy I got it finished in time and managed to surprise Ingrid.

I also made Ingrid and Kim a mug carrier each, there was lots of secret sewing happening over the weekend!

Yesterday late afternoon we had a heavy rain shower, the galahs seemed to enjoy the rain and I enjoyed seeing the rainbow!

A  but fuzzy but the colours looked so good in the late afternoon sun.
I have sewing group at St Leonards this morning so I had better get my skates on!
Have a great day.

Mug bag take 2

Yesterday afternoon I had another go at mug bag creating...I made my own years ago and remember starting with a  cd to trace around to make the base, so thats what I did, it was interesting trying to measure around the cd with the tape measure, slippery little thing!!
Anyway after some sewing and unsewing I finished up with these
I am much happier with these, and the mug actually fits inside!! Yahoo!!

The stitchery is finished and pinned to the backing, now to do the appliqué and hanging sleeve. I have enjoyed stitching this but am happy to have the finish..I have checked all the arms and legs and am confident no one is armless or legless!  Now I need to do somereally boring sewing...yep I have to hem some new jeans!! But first I think I will go for a walk, the sun is shining this morning and it isnt super windy.
Have a great day.

Mug bag

This afternoon I have been working on a mug bag for a good friend. I found a pattern on the internet and thought I would give it a try. It was a bit fiddly but went well until I did the binding and that was super fiddly!! Trying to join the binding on one side was like trying to sew in a teeny tiny corner...not easy. It looks a bit ugly in places but hopefully with use it will settle in.
Well last night blogger would not upload a photo for me, so I have tried again today. I have finished the binding but now I find the average mug we have does not fit in the bag, so I am off back to the drawing board. maybe it could just be a bag not for mugs!!
Happy sewing.

Patchwork block keeper

I am feeling pretty good, have had a productive day ( yep the washing did get dry but that isn't interesting) Lol!! I managed to get a lot of work done on a block keeper. I went to the local patchwork shop this morning only to find they didn't open for another 20 minutes, so as I had the dog in the car, decided not to hang around, but to head home and search through the fabric I have and see what I could use. How good was I!!!! And here is the result
still have to finish off the ends but I am going to get to those sometime!

Now I have a Fruity Ladies collection!! Block keeper, sewing bag and mug bag!! Can never have too many Fruity ladies!! Lol!!
