Busy day

Today I decided I just had to get on with it and get these quilts done, so I am happy to say that both quilts are finished, labelled, with hanging sleeves, their bags are made and labelled, just need to give them a good going over with sticky tape to get of the fluff and dog hair!! Then they are ready for the show on the weekend!! Seachange quilters at Barwon Heads...Friday evening until Sunday afternoon this weekend.
I have also motivated myself to finish my name label for the members quilt at Seachange
I used a last piece of fabric from Samoa...hope it fits in with the others!
Ok while I am still motivated I will make a start on the Dresden plate!
Happy sewing.

A finish and an outing

The Aussie hero quilt is finished and on its way
I am quite happy with it, hope the recipient is too!!
In the afternoon I went into Geelong to do some geocaching..the first was the old limestone burners..I didn't know these existed
amazing these are still here

I could hear stones falling all the time I was there, just little ones.....it took me ages to find the cache, when I finally did, I felt a bit silly as it was huge and once you know where it is it seems obvious!!!
I headed back to Drysdale to look for caches around the lake and found these lovely gum flowers
and a cache!!! yay!!!

and this chrysalis on the fence...this should be on a tree I think, then it would be hidden. But isn't it amazing? While I was walking around the lake I could hear bag pipes playing...strange how I start to walk in time to the drum beat straight away!!! Lol!! When I got back to the car, the Geelong RSL Pipe band were having a few practice songs! Was wonderful! Now I had better off and get some free range quilting happening!!
Have a great day.

A bit of this and that

Last night I got organised and finished the quilting on the Aussie Hero quilt, then made the binding and got that sewn on, tonight I need to do the hand sewing
getting there!!!
I have also been working away with the Samoa quilt...have 14 blocks left to go
then the binding, label and hanging sleeve..I hope to remember and attach the hanging sleeve and label before sewing on the binding, that way there is a little less hand sewing to be done later.
I went for a bike ride this morning, it was sunny and calm and again this afternoon to go to the post office
morning ablutions

afternoon waiting for the fishermen to return

such a beautiful day...but now back to the sewing!!
Happy sewing.

A finish and a new beginning

Yesterday I finished the latest block for the New Hegagon quilt...fixed up my woops!!
and today Mary and Jill came over and helped me put together fabrics for a Dresden plate...something I haven't made before. Twenty of us at the Port Arlington group have been asked to make a plate, we have been given two fabrics and use our stash for the rest.  Most of this fabric is from Mary and Jill, they wouldn't let me use batiks!!! All the plates will be put together in a quilt, and that will be the raffle quilt at the Port quilt show in November this year.
this will be a very summery block! Right I am off to do some more work on the Aussie Hero quilt.
Happy sewing.

Word photo week

It is that time again for the word photo challenge...the word this week is HEAT...something we are experiencing today!! Phew!!!
My photo is a bit back to front as the sun was behind the clouds when I had a walk this morning so it is a lack of HEAT!!
I am linking up with Shaz...if you go over and visit her blog you can see the other HEAT photos.
Happy days.

Link up and update

It is the time of the week of link up with Anthea to celebrate all things EPP.....we had to go into the city today for hubby to have an MRI before his operation next month...we were told to be there at 12.30, which we were, hubby filled in the paperwork and we sat and waited and waited, his appointment was for 1.00pm....he was finally called at 1.45 and returned at 2.45....but in the meantime I was beavering away with my EPP...I did make one mistake and didn't have an unpicker with me so had to wait until we got home, but this block is nearly completed
here is where I went wrong

and here is the block not long before we left the hospital...just that little woops to fix up!! Another block for the New Hexagon Quilt.
I also had a stitchery with me, just in case, and managed to get a little of that done too
Santa is a back up project for when I find I have some time to fill.
Last night I finished two beanies to go to KOGO, very kindly modeled by hubby
he always shows them at their best!!!! LOL!!!
I went for a walk this morning, I went to the end of the pier and back, about 4km hubby says, it was wonderful out this morning before the sun came out!
Good morning for a walk

out on the pier

birds at the end of the pier..watching me watching them!!
Right I had better go and get some dinner organised!!
Happy sewing.
