Out and about in Adelaide

We are here in Adelaide so hubby can have a war gaming weekend with his war gaming buddies over here. We left Thursday , and on the way thru Stawell called in to the craft shop and visited Cheryl, it was wonderful to have a catch up..... we stayed overnight in Bordertown, then continued on Friday. We stopped in Tailem Bend for lunch and I found
Miss Piggy mowing the grass, last time we went thru here she had a sparkly dress on....

guess who is ready for  lunch?

sadly no one is supplying!!!

Today I have been to Hahndorf, had a great wander around and looked in many shops...was tempted to but many lovely things too!!
I saw some great buildings in Hahndorf

most of the old buildings are made of sandstone here and are so appealing.
Is now getting late so I am heading off to bed now. I have done a little sewing hopefully will do more tomorrow, but then I have been asked if I want to go look at a scrapbooking shop!!! Ooohhh! There is a temptation.
Happy sewing.

No Fuss swap and EPP link up

I had a slow start to the day today, it was cold and much more fun to stay in bed reading and drinking a cuppa!! But all good things have to come to an end, and I remembered there was something much more exciting awaiting my attention!! Yes it was opening day for the Kitchen Kapers, No Fuss swap.
the interesting parcel

and the contents....lovely t towel, bunny biscuit cutter, spatula like I haven't  seen before, how pretty it that!!

and my most favourite in the world biscuit!!! Thank you very much Helen my wonderful swap partner, I love it all!!! Mmmmmm, off to eat the cookie now!!

Now to dust off the crumbs and continue!Lol!!
Today is also link up time over at Anthea's where we see what EPP people have been up to...
luckily last nigth I joined a strip of hexie flowers together and now they are going to be joined onto the hexie quilt
I am thinking of doing this row and one other and that might be nearly the end of these. Then to finish it off.
Last night I also finished the last KOGO blanket, they are all packed in their box and ready to go in the mail.

It feels good to have these finished.
I am off to the Post Office now, I hope everyone is having a great day.
Happy sewing.

Sunday

Today I have been alternating between house work and sewing, pain and pleasure!! Lol!! Just now I have finished four arcs for more New York Beauty blocks. I had hoped to finish them but it was not to be today.
before trimming

after trimming!!! The purple and green one is a little dark but maybe I can put bright colours around it.
Had better head off and do something about dinner.
Happy sewing.

Home and out and about

Last night I sewed away on the Aussie Hero quilt, got to the last strip and then realised I had a big fold in the fabric on the back, so an unsewing session is in front of me!!
the front, the Supervisor was keeping a watch out!!

and the back...no prizes for quessing what I will be doing tomorrow!!
Today I have been over to Barwon heads to the Seachange group for a class with Annette Packett - she taught us how to make the New York beauty block.
First we started choosing materials...that took a while!!! Lol!!
Then we cut the first pieces
and started the paper piecing, after much holding breath and concentration

I had these, which when trimmed

looked like this!! Yay!!!

these belonged to Lynne

these to Bronwyn

next we cut the top and bottom...mmmmm...curved seams! Aghhhhh!!!!

Phew the top went on ok, the inner circles I found really hard and got a couple of little tucks but I am not redoing them!!
So after some unsewing these are my blocks.
we had a great day and Annette is a wonderful teacher.
She showed us some of her quilts

Isn't this a cute mini...imagine making those blocks!! Something for you Elyte!!!

isn't this a beautiful mini quilt!!
On the way home I stopped to have a look at Ocean Grove, the sea was pounding in and it was high tide and a cold wind was blowing!!
Took a photo between rain showers..

The water is very high today!

Further down the beach a rainbow appeared.
I had better go and get some dinner organised.
Happy days.

Out and about

Today was supposed to be a home day and I had planned to get some sewing done, but hubby wanted to go collect some things in Geelong, so off we went, that done he informed me he needed to go home via the hardware store.....so while he did that I found there was a geocache near by so I went off and found that.....then it was back to St Leonards to the supermarket, to gather supplies. We have visitors Saturday night for dinner and Monday for lunch...with a bit of luck Sunday might be a sewing day, although I can see some cleaning needing to be done!!! Ah well we will see.
Last night while watching Inspector Murdoch I sewed together some sections of a KOGO blanket
later today I made a start on an Aussie Hero quilt, this request for this one was Australia.

I had better go and get some more sewing done.
Happy sewing.

Visitors

Today there were some visitors to St Leonards and we met down the street for a cuppa...on the way I saw these amazing cloud formations
Isn't that amazing?? I drove down to the shops to check if the visitors were waiting for me,

they weren't so I went down to the jetty to get another cloud photo but of course by then it had changed and moved, still looks spekky though I think. I went back to the shops and to the coffee shop where I was meeting the visitors only to find it closed.....mmmmm...no visitors so I nicked in to the  newsagents, as I was paying for a magazine, my phone rang and I could see the people I was meeting outside the door!! Guess who it was??

Yep, Jo and her hubby Tony. They are visiting family in Clifton Springs, so were able to come over for a while this afternoon. We had a great catch up in another cafe, then they came home to meet the Supervisor, who I must say was not very friendly!!! Was wonderful to spend time with them both!

Later in the afternoon I found these in a basket, I was working on these before we left Gisborne and they have been languishing in a basket, so after a little sewing,I had

these. One day they will all be joined together, after I sew some more together. Now I had better go and check dinner!
Happy sewing.

Hexie Quilt

I have been back working on the hexie quilt the past few nights and have nearly got it to a rectangle
Quite happy with how it looks now.
Yesterday I went over to Seachange Quilters sewing day and on the way home I had a short walk along the coast line

Was a bit of a wild and woolly day but great to be out walking after sitting sewing for a few hours.
Happy sewing.
