This was to be another year of getting UFO's finished but I have given in to temptation and am starting three new quilts! Oh dear!!
Ingrid came across this book and decided this would be a good sew along project, so we are sewing will Jill here in St Leonards and Fiona of BubzRugz fame. Ingrid and I started this week, Jill has one block made and Fiona is awaiting the pattern book I think, no doubt we will all sew along at our own pace.
These are out of order, but not to worry, this is # 4
this was #3 block
# 1 & 2
blocks 5 & 6
Block 6 remade to try and get the centre a little better.
These blocks finish at 4 inches and there are 72 of them plus a centre applique block.
Last January (I think) Ingrid and I had a look at these patterns and decided 2021 was the year to make this quilt, so this goes onto the to do list as well!
Then I was looking thru this book yesterday and decided to make the quilt with half square triangles, maybe this weekend, we will see!
These are some of the gifts I gave Ingrid this Christmas, we did our swap last weekend so I can show now! I saw this Halloween wall hanging on Instagram so copied it and made it for Ingrid, it will hang on the front door next Halloween.
I also made a table topper, I found a template so tried it out, Ingrid then wanted to try it out and made
It is now quilted and has a centre, I didn't take another photo of the near finished project, it just needs binding now.
I also made a little hanger using Barb Smith buttons, here is Ingrid off to the Quilt store!
Ingrid gave me lots of beautiful presents
Ready covered hexies, wooden stamps, a beautiful pincushion, a zipper pouch, stickers and tin
oops blogger has turned this around, a mug with balls of wool on it, a purple pumpkin (I need to make a stalk and some leaves for it) and a planner to organise all my projects!! It has lots of helpful hints, I need to start reading!
a beautiful stack of fabric to use in the Schoolgirl Sampler
a wallhanging showing Ingrid's love of small blocks!
A wall hanging showing my love of batiks!
And a Tomte wall hanging, how cute is that!! The quilting even has Tomte's in it! I can't put this one away yet!
I went out into the garden after lunch to dig up some spreading plants that hubby wanted to cut back, job done I noticed he had pruned a tree and left the prunings on the ground, quite normal around here, so I thought I would help and gathered up a wheel barrow load, then went back for a second. This tree has the end of a dead branch that sticks out at about head height...you can guess what I did!! I said to myself many times watch that branch and of course walked straight into it, I am not a happy camper! Needless to say the rest of the prunings are still where they landed and I have not emptied the wheelbarrow!! I have a fat eye lid and cheek bone! I think that end of branch has to come off - that will go onto the to do list.
I am off to have a cold drink and to eat some potato chips!!
Happy stitching.
Your poor eye. The end of the branch definitely needs to come off. Enjoy those chips. On the stitching front, all three quilts are beaut. Schoolhouse Sampler will keep you amused for a little while. Your Christmas swap with Ingrid include some lovely gifts.
ReplyDeleteWow, you sure do hope to sew a lot this year. Love the projects though. Ouch for your eye. Hope it won’t be black tomorrow
ReplyDeleteMany lovely quilts you'll be working on as well as doing your UFOs..
ReplyDeleteLots of gorgeous gifts sent and received...
Oh No do hope your face feels better soon. XX
Oh Ouch! Hope the eye gets better quickly as you have some gorgeous projects to stitch.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about that injury, hope it soon gets better! Poor you! I am marvelling at your quilting and love the wonderful presents you got, especially that Tomte piece, it's fabulous. Have a great week, take care! Hugs,Valerie
ReplyDeleteI will be watching your sampler quilt progress with interest. Lots of lovely gifts given and received. Ouchhhh - a cold drink and potato chips are definitely what is needed when something like that happens.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post Sue - nothing like a New Year & some new projects. Gosh what wonderful gifts both given & received by you & Ingrid. She has certainly got your taste down to a Tee especially with that Tomte wall hanging - how beautiful. So sorry to read about your battle with the tree Sue - I have similar accidents here in my garden & bruises to show for it - I think gardening should come with a hazard warning! xx
ReplyDeleteOh Sue... ouch.... but I am so glad your eye didn't get poked with a branch..... I bought the book online so printed it all out and now have started (as you now know) I don't know JIll of course and Ingrid by Insta.... fun to sew together. I would like to keep up 6 a week but who knows...
ReplyDeleteYou have soem lovely quilts planned to do..... and gorgeous gift swap both ways.... such fun to extend Christmas a bit...
Take care and get that branch chopped!
Hugz
Ohhh noooo... hope it heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteLovely post full of great pics.
Your "group" project looks like FuN too. Good luck with it... xox
Ouch! That doesn't look good and can't have felt great! I hope it feels better now. Such wonderful things you made and plans you have for this year, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you heal quickly! I hate when that happens. I love the new schoolgirl block project! They are so appealing. I’m always amazed by how many things you have going and especially how many things you finish!
ReplyDeleteDo hope your eye recovers soon so that you can get on with all your projects that you have lined up. Gardening has it's risks, as I have a few scratches from my efforts this week.
ReplyDeleteYou are just getting all sorts of beat up. Yep, that branch needs to go.
ReplyDeleteI love the school girl sampler So Much! I have been sitting here debating on joining you but have decided against it. I must finish UFOS this year instead. Besides, I have bins of fabric for quilts unstarted to get to some day.
