Last week Ingrid came to stay for a few days, we set up our sewing machines on the dining table and sewed and chatted in the day and did hand sewing in the evening (and chatted 😉)
I finished the foundation pieced heart blocks and am now joining them into rows
Last blocks made
Laying them out to check for colour placement, I don't think it really matters with these blocks!
Quality inspector came to check things out
and from a different angle, we did some ball throwing and everyone was happy!
First three rows joined together.
I joined my two pieces of the cropped diamond shapes, Ingrid was not happy with my ironing skills, so she sorted them for me.
We found a tool to save burning fingers
the back had interesting texture
you can see the difference the ironing made. Thank you Ingrid!!
The postie was very kind to me today, delivering three treats
a lovely stitched decoration from Michelle,
a book mark from Maria
and a post card from Raewyn. This one took 5 DAYS Raewyn, unlike the 5 weeks mine took to get to you! I hope to go and visit that beach one day.
Thank you lovely ladies your thoughtfulness made my day.
I think that is all from me for now, tomorrow is hubbies birthday so we are off to Queenscliff to catch the ferry to Sorrento, then we are being met by hubbies sister and bro- in- law and we are off of the pub for lunch. It should be a good day.
Happy stitching.
Fabulous quilting! Dogs and cats love to be in the middle of things! Enjoy your presents! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGood to have a fairy to press for you, and spend time with. Lots of lovely mail, and a ferry trip to sorrento sounds great
ReplyDeleteLovely pieced scrappy hearts blocks--So pretty on the blue background...nice work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteHubby always asks me what us girls find to chat about all the time.....they do not get it. A very productive sewing time. Happy birthday to hubs....sounds like a lovely day planned - enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your husband, Sue! A ferry to Sorrento and lunch at the pub sounds the perfect to spend a birthday. How fun to hang out with your friend, Ingrid, and sew and chat and sew and chat........... =) LOVE those hearts. I agree, it wouldn't matter where you place each heart as they will look fabulous wherever you place them. Your letterbox has delivered some lovely gifts....lucky you.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad the quality inspector approves. The hearts are really pretty. I like how the light color sashing frames each one.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so envious that Ingrid could come & sew with you Sue & I'm pleased to see she bought along her Quality Inspector. I love the gifts you have received in the post - just gorgeous. Belated Birthday wishes to David 😊
ReplyDeleteThe hearts look wonderful. I have not met your new inspector, LOVE that coat!! That little tool is handy! Enjoy your happy mail. Happy Birthday to your hubby, that sounds like an excellent way to spend the day!

ReplyDeleteI love those pieced hearts--and the quality inspector is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteThe cropped diamonds look like a bear of a project to iron. Maybe you should arrange for a visit from Ingrid whenever you need it pressed. ;)
Looks like fun mail. I think mail service is crazy everywhere. I sent a package to my son, who only lives a couple of hours away, and it took a week for it to arrive. My daughter lives about 12 hours away and the package I sent her arrived in less than 2 days. Go figure!
Your hearts look beautiful. How lovely to have Ingrid visit. Hwppy belated birthday to your dear Hubby. Enjoy your jingly mail xx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those kinds of visits! Sounds as though you had a wonderful time together! Love your hearts quilt-to-be!

ReplyDeleteYour Hearts look lovely and it’s good to have a helper…
Good to get nice mail. Oh yes the beach on Raewyn’s card looks gorgeous.
The pieced hearts are so beautiful. They are a reflection of all the love you pour into your work particularly the quilts for the Oncology ward. The Santa is cute and the postcard from Raewyn makes me ache for vacation by the sea. Hope your hubby had a great birthday. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteLovely visit by Ingrid.... I can only imagine the chatting that went on! Loving the look of the hearts.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to David..... late now I know but I hope it was a great day....
