I have been doing bits and pieces, the vest for Finn is finished and has been delivered, the book case is a bit closer to being finished
the strips on the side need to be added and then it is done, I was going to add more sashings but think it is big enough.
the heap of knitted squares are now a blanket, all sewn together and a crochet edge added, ready to go to KOGO
Last Wednesday's Anthology block
Last Thursday evening I backed out in hubbies car at about 6pm to deliver dinner to Adam and Beth and misjudged the driveway and collected the end of the fence. I wasn't going that fast I didn't think, but a good third of the wall has fallen down and hubbies car is damaged. The car has been to the repair shop, I was told the damage was not that bad and it can easily be fixed, we are waiting to hear more. Same with the front fence. We might go for a colour bond fence across the front and a gate, I will feel a bit safer after hubbies wheelie walker was taken from the front of the house.
I was tidying up and found these strips hanging behind the door - they should have been made into a Row by Row back in 2017! The Bellarine Quilters had a challenge back them and mine has never been finished! Maybe this year.
One of the orchids on the back deck has beautiful flowers at present
Out in the garden, the bird feeders are mostly frequented by possums I thinl!!
Two blocks for Anthology this week. Those 1 inch squares and half square triangles are not easy to work with!!
I have been in the garden today and all the buddleia bushes are finally pruned.
I have attached one of the bird boxes to the fence. I had a look inside, it has a soft base of plant material in the bottom, then bits of plastic and chocolate wrappers and I egg!! We have galahs using the other box, they raised a young one, I hope the egg will be ok and that the birds come back to the box.
The other box is still in place, the one on the fence used to be attached under this box, it fell of in the windy weather this week.
I had better make a move and get some dinner under way.
Tomorrow night is FNWF you can sign up over at Cheryll's blog, Cheryll is our lovely host.
I will in Merrigij for the next week
In the autumn/winter
and the summer. I haven't been here for many years so will be interesting.
Right I really had better go and start dinner. 😄
Happy stitching.
love your bookshelf quilt and the kogo blanket is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteShame about the fence, these things happen.
I recognise those elephants lol
lucky you having orchids flowering already, my ones that usually have flowers now only have start of the spikes! hope they redeem themselves.
lots of work in your anthology blocks!
Enjoy your week away.
Your book case quilt is coming along nicely. Oh no about the car/fence. If you needed anew fence for safety there was an easier way than knocking it down!!!!! I do like the 3D flying geese block in your row by row quilt. Do you have a link for how it was done?
ReplyDeletewow you have been so busy again!
ReplyDeleteyour orchids are way ahead of mine, I have tiny flower spikes about 2" long and growing on some at the moment...
hubby pruned my buddleias back, they are about 1/4 the size of yours!
Merrijig is such a lovely place, enjoy your time there.
Wow! You've been busy! I know what you mean about finishing up and finally getting things off the list. Good for you!!
ReplyDeleteYou get so much done! Enjoy your week away. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that wall must have been compromised to have fallen like that.... hope the car is sorted soon... Great anthology blocks... those little pieces are challenging.... and I love the bookcase.... should be nice and cool next week - but it looks so beautiful...

Love the bookcase quilt Sue. Just wonderful. Sorry to read of your driveway mishap but the new fence & gate will be great. Gosh that is a stunning looking orchid. Enjoy your trip away Sue. xx
ReplyDeleteSo much happening at your place as always. Beautiful quilts and blanket. And a stunning orchid. Hope the repairs are quick.
ReplyDeleteLovely catch up Sue. I do like your bookcase and great work getting all those squares together - pretty colours. Enjoy your week away. xx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that no one was hurt and damage only minimal to car and fence. Lots happening in the sewing room. Enjoy your week away. It is a big job keeping the garden in check.
ReplyDeleteThe bookshelf is great! Sorry to read about the mishap with the car and the fence. I always like seeing the Anthology blocks.
ReplyDeleteOh no with the car and the fence and GRRR about the walker being stolen - so shouldn't happen :-( I love all your Anthology blocks - well done tackling the small triangles and squares - and winning!! It's always interesting what you find in birds' nests - I found one with a lovely mixture of chicken feathers and cowtail hair the other day!! Is Merrijig the desitination for another retreat? I'll have to do some googling. (Oh and I bet you can guess what I say about possums getting into your feeders!)
ReplyDeletePS Sorry forgot to say Love your bookcase quilt!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bookcase flimsy is lovely, the Kogo blanket is bright and cheery,
ReplyDeleteNice Anthology Blocks. Maybe the row by rows can become a community quilt.
Hope your car is repaired soon after the fence got in the way.
OOOps - shame about the car & fence..
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is looking good - and the blanket will help to keep someone warm.
Anthology - as I said - too tiny for me!
Lovely, lovely post Sue. So sorry about your little fence/car incident, but hay, you get a new fence out of the deal.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing snippets of your yard and reading about the bird's nest forming in the house on the fence.
I have always loved book case quilts but never tried my hand at it. It is very very nicely done!
Anthology blocks are so small. It is fun to watch all of you Anthology ladies grow them!
A nice newsy post. Your patchwork projects are looking good. How annoying about the fence. At least it can be fixed. It’s the time of year to be tidying up the garden for winter. .
ReplyDeleteSorry about your fence mishap. But fences and cars can be repaired, as long as you are ok. Not heard of Merijig, so look forward to finding out more.
