Here and there

I have been visiting Finn and his family and having walks with them when we time our walks together

we have had play time at home

and watched Finn venture into eating solids!
We have had hot sunny days, some even went in swimming, a bit cold for me yet

the pelicans enjoyed the bits from the fish cleaning station, I think the pelican on the right might have been eating squid

I had a walk along the sea front in Geelong one day and enjoyed the bollards again

these two are looking a bit the worse for wear sadly

we have had some cooler and wet weather too.
Today I delivered my quilt to West Geelong for the Quilt Exhibition of the Guild starting tomorrow
the bookcase quilt is all finished.
I had a walk around and in the Botanic Gardens on the way home
Well blogger has moved these all around so they are mixed up!

back in St Leonards walking

on the walk around the Botanic Gardens the fruit bats are snoozing in the pine trees

a bit of a fuzzy zooming in photo 😀

a big old tree I liked 😀

beautiful flowers in the dry garden section

in one of the hot houses

and again

they had a kowhai tree in flower in the gardens, although it was labelled a tree from Chile, the nectar feeding birds love these flowers

part of a sculpture in the gardens, sadly I chopped it's head off!!

seed pods from an interesting tree, no seeds though

this beautiful stag fern? was in the fernery.
I am currently working on an Aussie Hero quilt, the request was for Staffordshire terriers and the ship  crest - hope he likes blue!!

the next one is for Tank Evans from Surfs Up. This requires a large applique - next weeks job!

A little progress has been made on the modern triangles, a challenge at the Bellarine Quilters

these were mostly foundation paper piecing

A little more has happened on the Daylesford quilt top

and the cropped diamonds are coming along slowly

I called in to Heights sewing centre after dropping off my quilt, I had a voucher to spend ( lucky me) and found these plus some quilting templates to have a play with

went to the bike shop and got a comfy seat for my bike ( I hope!!)

and I have started reading this book...phew are you still awake??
I am off to continue on the AH quilt.
Happy stitching.

This week

I have been doing bits and pieces, the vest for Finn is finished and has been delivered, the book case is a bit closer to being finished

the strips on the side need to be added and then it is done, I was going to add more sashings but think it is big enough.

the heap of knitted squares are now a blanket, all sewn together and a crochet edge added, ready to go to KOGO
Last Wednesday's Anthology block

Last Thursday evening I backed out in hubbies car at about 6pm to deliver dinner to Adam and Beth and misjudged the driveway and collected the end of the fence. I wasn't going that fast I didn't think, but a good third of the wall has fallen down  and hubbies car is damaged. The car has been to the repair shop, I was told the damage was not that bad and it can easily be fixed, we are waiting to hear more. Same with the front fence. We might go for a colour bond fence across the front and a gate, I will feel a bit safer after  hubbies wheelie walker was taken from the front of the house.

I was tidying up and found these strips hanging behind the door - they should have been made into a Row by Row back in 2017! The Bellarine Quilters had a challenge back them and mine has never been finished! Maybe this year.

One of the orchids on the back deck has  beautiful flowers at present

Out in the garden, the bird feeders are mostly frequented by possums I thinl!!

Two blocks for Anthology this week. Those 1 inch squares and half square triangles are not easy to work with!!

I have been in the garden today and all the buddleia bushes are finally pruned.

I have attached one of the bird boxes to the fence. I had a look inside, it has a soft base of plant material in the bottom, then bits of plastic and chocolate wrappers and I egg!! We have galahs using the other box, they raised a young one, I hope the egg will be ok and that the birds come back to the box.

The other box is still in place, the one on the fence used to be attached under this box, it fell of in the windy weather this week.
I had better make a move and get some dinner under way.
Tomorrow night is FNWF you can sign up over at Cheryll's blog, Cheryll is our lovely host.
I will in Merrigij for the next week
In the autumn/winter

and the summer. I haven't been here for many years so will be interesting.
Right I really had better go and start dinner. 😄
Happy stitching.

Catching up yet again

Time gets away on me, it does not help that I have been doing lots of reading! 😀

the flower and horse quilt and the ferret, horse, pig and dogs quilt have gone to their new home, photos to come.

the pelicans are still around down near the boat launching ramp

Shane came for an afternoon and we walked the dogs

another day recently I came across Adam and Beth when I was walking Hank, so we walked together
another Anthology block has been made
I saw and enjoyed this movie

and then  had lunch looking over the bay, the clouds were amazing

the last two days I hve been making blocks for the bookcase quilt which has been sadly neglected

a vase and flower

a messy photo but the quilt so far, I was busy sewing away last night and realised I had made a mistake and forgot to put in the brown for the shelf, so some unsewing needs to be done today.
The vest for Finn is coming along slowly, love this wool Raewyn gave me, just the arm bands to go and then sewing up.

This mess is another heap of knitted squares waiting to be made into a KOGO blanket - if I keep it in sight i.e. on the chair next to me, maybe it will get done!!

the two quilts promised earlier, it had taken me ages to find them on the phone.
That is enough for me for now
Happy stitching.
