FNWF and the weekend

I was  very productive on Friday evening, joined up two panels and made star blocks to go along side them, late Friday I was unsewing as I had put the centre strip crooked, so Saturday was resewing day!!
Assembled correctly

One of the star blocks

another of the star blocks

Yesterday I cut and sewed another 8 Advent challenge blocks.
This morning is the Aussie Santa toy run for the Children's Hospital,

I have spent a very happy half hour on the front deck watching the bikes go by

bikes of all sizes and shapes, quiet ones, loud ones, serious grunters and then a Vespa or two, I have really enjoyed seeing them.

Love how some of the bikes (and riders) are decorated

Last year there were over 1000 bikes, sounds like there will be much the same this year.
Today I hope to sew the star strips on the sides, then small stars need to be appliqued onto the brown strips.
I had better go and hang out the washing.
Happy stitching.

This and that, here and there

Last Sunday I was supposed to be tidying the sewing room, an ongoing should be, when we heard the rumble of bikes in the distance..I very happily spent the next nearly two hours watching bikes of various sizes and shapes go past the house.

There must have been hundreds of them, I was told last year 1000 gathered at Queenscliff, would have been close to that again this year.

Got lots of waves and toots, even a blat from a big guy on a Harley.

Santa went past at one stage!!
After all that excitement I went to see what hubby was up to, not his best angle I must admit, but he was very busy putting in an outdoor chess game area

Hubby was given an outdoor chess set for his birthday and Christmas, I told him he could have the black pieces for his birthday and the white for Christmas. He didn't think that was funny!!! Anyway since construction we have had very heavy rain so the base is very well settled in.

I found some Christmas paper piecing on the internet so decided to have a go, it took a long time to get my head around working backwards again.
I was watching/listening to this movie while sewing, everyone I have spoken to finds this movie happy, for some reason it makes me cry, once in the movies and again at home!

During the week I received this beautiful card and decoration from the lovely Michelle, I love these little gonky guys, thank you very much Michelle, these are very special. I first came across these guys in Germany a few years back.
The Supervisor and I went for a walk in the week, in between the rain storms
the galahs were having a feed by the road

we found lots of puddles

and it looked as though more weather was coming from the North.
Today was sunny

the Supervisor had a swim

the native clematis is covered in seeds, aren't they beautifully delicate?

the Asiatic lilies are flowering, a bit battered from the rain but still  looking good

I rescued a bee from the rain gauge, it hung about for a while and then flew off.

I brought the Supervisor home and then went for a bike ride to the local book exchange and back.

I finally finished the paper pieced decoration, the seams nearly met up!!

And now I have to go sort this mess in the sewing room.
Happy stitching.
