August FNWF

 Another FNWF has come and gone, thank you to our host Cheryll, over at her blog you can see what other Friday Nighter's got up to.

I started late afternoon and finished the quilting and binding on an oncology quilt, this one was made by one of the Guild ladies. Love the panels.

My quilt holder upper helper is currently sleeping so I had to use the couch, so no socks under the quilt today!!

I made the borders and put them on the quilt  top I made on retreat, I used the little gold squares I cut in error to make cornerstones, no waste, that is a bonus.

Then I made a few more flying geese, before I had to retire to bed with a cuppa.

I am off to see what the other Friday nighter's got up to at Cheryll's.

Update and FNWF

Here we are Friday already, this week has gone by so quickly.

We had a huge storm Wednesday evening I think, just as the sun was heading off for the day, lots of heavy rain showers and then hail, boy it was cold

Tuesday saw me outside putting the layers of a quilt together, it was cold but not too bad.

Thursday evening we had a cool change and this hail storm blew in

The ground was white

The neighbours front yard was well covered

The back deck was covered too

The deck and grass, it lasted a while coming down, but disappeared after a while from the ground.

Susan's second quilt is finished and has been delivered, please excuse hubbys feet, I am having trouble using the cropping tool.

This weeks Anthology block is done, it is For Connie,

Boy's Nonsense is the block for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.

And as there was footie on last night I returned to the sewing room and made some flying geese to add to the collection.

Tonight it is Friday Night with Friends night, a virtual sew along with other bloggers, you can sign up at our host Cheryll's blog.

Blogger is making life difficult today, I have blue writing and then black and underlined and not underlined, all part of the process of getting used to the new interface I guess. I cant figure out how to centre this post so it is staying as it is for now.

FNWF

Well, our FNWF turned in to a weekend sewing with friends plus an outing to quilt shop we hadn't found before, plus lots of eating, drinking and chatting and generally enjoying each others company! We all went to St Leonard's for the weekend..

Friday night dinner of fish and chips - Tracee was having an out of body experience!! Lol!!

Saturday we drove to Newcombe looking for this quilt shop , The Blanket Box,  as Tracee ran out of DMC thread, 

sadly this shop didn't have the needed thread but....it did have many other things that were needed...really needed!!! Lol!!! Tania found some fabric she had been looking for and couldn't find anywhere else..she was very happy! I found two stitcheries I really needed (LOL) and some car fabric I do actually need. 

Would recommend a visit to this shop...great fabric, great service....we will be back!

We went on in to Geelong to Lincraft to get the DMC  (and some other things we NEEDED) mmmmmm..... following that, we  visited a new shop (Red Desire)  run by a young Chinese woman, I didn't take a photo but will next time, she had lovely things and her prices were really good, she had some clothes, house wares, journals, soaps...lots of goodies....we will be back there too! We all came out happy and wish her well in her new venture!

then we needed a cuppa at Gloria Jeans to set us up for the trip back to St Leonards!!

Sewing has commenced!! So did the rain and the temperature dropped and the light faded but we battled on!!

We had Marg's home made potato and leek soup for late lunch, then had afternoon tea, cheese and bikkies!

I had purchased some self threading needles, and couldn't thread them!!! Oh dear!! Tracee helped me and passed it back but hey where is the needle???? It was still unthreaded and in Tracee's hand!! I think she was teasing me!!

Sunday morning we had a walk along the beach - me taking a photo of Marg taking a photo of us!!

And to the serious stuff!! We did get some sewing done! I am working on Block 1 of my BOM,

I am also repairing a work colleague's quilt, lots of seams have come undone, so some stitching up is needed.

I need to get a photo of Tracee's Perry's Place quilt but blogger is not letting me so I will return!!

Ha! Ha! I am back!

Perry's Place is coming along - Tracee has done so much work on this quilt this year - she is blanket stitching around the fence and posts and at last count had 6 posts to go! It is already amazing and will be sensational when it is all finished...I think Tracee will be relieved too!!

Sadly all good things have to end and we headed home Sunday afternoon after having a wonderful extended FNWF!!

I hope everyone had a successful sewing/craft night - I am really happy I managed to get 10 flowers together and didn't put the blunt end of the needle into my finger like I usually manage to!!!!! :-)

Today I was wandering along the beach, looking out to sea, looking at the other people walking - then I saw a man walking along playing a banjo - I tried not to stare honest, but that is something I have never seen before!  Then this caught my eye

How is it I can find heart shaped stones - 2 in 2 days - but I can't see a whale!!! I spent 2 hours at the Woolgoolga Headland watching out to sea - nothing after the first hour, along came a family, they sat down and saw 2 pods of dolphins and then whales out on the horizon! Well the horizon is a very  long way away and I can't see that far with just my eyes!! They were lovely people though and let me look at a photo they had taken - huge camera lens -  and the whale was a little white shape but it was a whale, so now I am happy I have seen one!

So tonight I am going to participate in FNWF - I think- will be thinking of the wonderful people I know who craft and quilt and stitch while I am working on my hexies.
