FNSI Results

.

After a slow start I got fired up last night and did a little quilting and tracing stitcheries from Gail Pans new book.

these ones I managed to get the fabric back to front so they are traced on the back!!!! Memo to self, so not do this at night!!!
Last night I started quilting the waves on this Aussie hero quilt, but then stopped and finished the binding on the Charm Square quilt, I completed the quilting this morning. Thank you to Wendy for hosting us you can have a look at Wendy's blog to see what others got up to! Off to tidy up this quilt and organise binding.
Happy sewing.

FNSI

Tonight is Friday Night Sew In and as I have just finished vacuuming I am running a bit behind!! I had big plans for today, but they have vanished in shopping for groceries for the weekend and then cooking, which is not like me, but all I can say, is that it has been raining all day and it is the ideal temp for the oven to be on!!
You can sign up over at Wendy's for an evening of virtual sewing group and then return over the weekend to see what people have been doing

today I have made some muesli, gluten free, with nuts and seeds and puffed rice and millet, some cranberries and dried apple and other goodies
the recipe came from Marg, it was in a magazine just before Christmas, Marg made it and I tasted it and now about six weeks after she gave me the recipe I have made it!! It makes heaps too, considering I will probably be eating it on my own as hubby doesn't do cereal for breakfast!

while I was at it I made another batch of these breakfast bars...hubby will eat these for breakfast!! Lol!! Mine never comes out golden like the picture though!!

bit of a dull day here today, rained pretty much all day..

but my day was brightened considerably when I found this in the letterbox!! Another wonderful Gail Pan Christmas designs book....might be doing some tracing tonight!! Many thanks to the wonderful Cheryl, who sent me a copy of this book from her place of work the Stawell Craft Shop.
Right I am off to peel potatoes.....yesterday I put a piece of corned beef in the crock pot and went off to sewing....when I finish with the crock pot I unplug it and don't alter the thermostat.....when I got back yesterday afternoon I couldn't smell dinner ....that was because the thermostat was turned off and nothing had happened!!! So guess what we are having for dinner tonight!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Yesterday I met up with lovely sewing friends and many, many other sewers at the Geelong Patchwork and Quilters Quilt In. I think there were 305 people there...was a big event!! The first speaker fo rth eday was Cathryn Barbagallo talking about modern quilts, the second was Kathy Doughty from Material Obsession...she was a very interesting person to listen to
Kathy explaining her quilts...

Sewing.....

...in the plaster dust....yes the plasterer was here on Saturday and he did a huge amount of work...he also made a huge mess...I spent quite a while picking bits of plaster off the new cupboards and floor after he had gone....he will be back on Wednesday to sand down the plaster.....I am leaving home and going to Gisborne that day!!!! Actually it was already planned but I will be happy not to be here!! It was lovely yesterday to lay in bed with a cuppa and book, house was quiet, didn't have to get up for any tradie coming at 7.30!!!! Later I got to some sewing....
I have started on another Aussie Hero quilt...black, white, rugby and All Blacks for this one...

some blocks ready to be joined up...

I have  also finished my Gail Pan table runner...quite happy with this one!!

Just happened to see the sun coming up this morning...great colours in the clouds...makes me feel good to see lovely sunrises!

Squally Sunday

Today inbetween and during rain showers we have been over to Wallington...I went along to price...just price an archway that I need (lol) to train some jasmine over....we have inherited a very old jasmine plant here so need to get it up off the ground and the fence and over an arch way, but before that can happen a stump of another tree has to be removed.....hopefully that will happen this week.  Last week at the hardware store I bought some hanging baskets....they have been waiting..... but when I am in a garden centre I get a bit excited and we came home with
...parsley seedlings for one hanging basket......I scavenged some hooks from the builders heap of waste...I think they hold up the spouting....am using them for hangers but I am not sure how strong they are...we will see!!

..pansy seedlings for another hanging basket...

this one has seaside daisy...I took a few bits from Eve's garden last time I was there and they were sitting in a jar and have sprouted roots, so I hope they grow happily...

and this basket has bright red geraniums...

and under the kiwi fruit that has stopped growing I have planted a banana passionfruit....loved these when I was young....the supervisor is not sure what I am doing....

come to check everything out....

and I also came home with a tamarillo, or tree tomato as I knew them growing up...love these off the tree or in chutney.....yum!!!!

I did a little more stitchery last night.....

and the Aussie hero quilt is finished and ready to post....

the main reason for gong to the hardware/nursery shop was for DH to get some pavers to create a path from the house to the super shed door...when we bought them several broke as the hardware man picked them up...he said he hated selling faulty stuff....well DH got them into the path walked on them once and four broke...he is not a happy camper!!! Back to the hardware store me thinks!!
Off to do some sewing now...on no...actually might have to take the supervisor for a walk....have been avoiding that today so far....off to dodge the rain drops!!
Happy sewing.

Hexies

It is that time once again to join up with Anthea for her Piece yourself together time and show what has happened with the EPP. Sadly not a lot here, but as I knew this day was getting close I pulled out some hexies (ready cut Yay!! and made them up last night. They go on this lovely clock pattern by Ramona Hermann of Flutterby Designs. It was one of the goodies from the recent Gail Pan stitchery day.
Need to attach the hexies to the stitchery now....maybe tomorrow....I have been invited to a small sewing group here in St Leonards, so will be a good project to take....

I have also finished the first KOGO blanket for this year...now on to the next one.
Happy sewing.
