Out and about

Yesterday when part of the family were visiting we went for a drive looking for photos take, and of course I had to sneak in a geocache!!

We stopped at the end of Swan Bay Road, off they go into the soggy beach area

The birds all took of fairly quickly!

This pelican was grooming off in the distance

Something of interest out there.

Now we are in Point Lonsdale, we climbed up a path to the top of the sand hills, yep there was a cache up there...I didn't get a photo of the ocean as I was too busy searching and by the time I found it the (big) kids had had enough!!

We went down to the jetty, there were huge clouds appearing over the horizon, luckily no rain!

The light house is a working light house.

Today I have been into Geelong for the car to have a service, me to do some messages and then home.

The turtles are together, just waiting to be positioned on the quilt.

I have finally sewn the binding on the Doing the Rounds Quilt, after a gentle nudge from Leeanne, I am happy to say I have even started the hand sewing!!

Just a little reminder of the beautiful quilting Leeanne has done on the quilt.

Off to sort some dinner now.

Guild

Is was Guild meeting today,a good time was had by all, I didn't get photos of all the show and tell, just a few

these amazing quits are made with hand dyed, recycled fabric, the stitching is by hand too. There were four of them and they were amazing.

Cheryl is on a mission to finish quilts, this one was put away as she had lost interest, but now it is beaded and finished and looks wonderful.

these two were made for a challenge, the one on the left is made with paper and chiffon, the one on the right hand dyed and hand stitched fabrics. Both amazing quilts.

Anna made this rug for her daughters bedroom...recycled fabric, cut in two inch strips and then crocheted. How impressive is that? It is very heavy, but looks fantastic, Anna had to sit on the floor to make it as big as her daughter wanted. Think I might put in an order for one!!

Yesterday I was out geocaching, I walked 4.5kms along the Bellarine Rail Trail and then went to Van Loons nursery to treat myself to a chai and mixed berry cheescake! YUM!! On the way home I went to the end of Swan Bay Road to find a newish geocache.. 

This big guy was sitting on where I thought the cache was, he flew away grunting...not impressed,  

he didn't go far though.

I squelched my way through the soggy edge of the water and after getting both runners completely wet, I realised I was looking in the wrong place!! Duh!! 

Luckily I finally found it and was able to sign my name, before squelching my way back to the car. Thank goodness it was a warmish day.

I am off to the sewing room now to avoid watching the footie!

Catching up...super photo heavy

Saturday Eve and I headed off to find garage sales and on out way found the local market was on, so diverted there first. We ended up finding 6 garage sales and then a school fete in Geelong, I was a bit tired by the time we got back home around 4pm!!

Sunday afternoon we went for a look at the local lagoon, to see what kinds of birds Eve could spot

we found geese and seagulls

and this unusual large duck that was not at all bothered we were getting up close and personal.

we stopped out at Swan Bay to look at the birds but there was a freezing wind blowing in from the water so we headed off to Van Loons nursery for coffee and a cake! 

Monday I got the Aussie hero quilt boxed up ready to post

I tried some writing in the quilting!

After going to sewing group at Port we headed off to Queenscliff and had a look at the op shops and antique shops, this church had a book sale on, so Eve was looking at the books while I looked at the beautiful windows.

There was choral music playing and the room felt so peaceful.

Wednesday morning I took the Supervisor for a walk, it was a bit of a dull morning.

Today was better

no tree went unchecked....or watered!!

lots of people were out fishing

the beach was very peaceful and I found some wonderful beach glass.

Back home I cut most of the finished flower heads off the echium

and came inside looking like a beetroot!!

Later I packed yp the 12 Days of Christmas swap presents, they are all ready to go, 

sewed up the gap in the dolls coverlet and tried out some tying quilting...not sure if that is the correct thing to call it! Just the label to do now

I headed off down the garden to bring in the washing, the Supervisor had to decide did he come along or did he stay on the back deck!! He has arthritis in his legs so while moving around is good for him, he does find the stairs challenging some days!

the nearly pruned echium, the green waste bin is stuffed full so the last few heads can go next time, I did get in the way of some bees having a look at the last few blue flowers, hopefully there is food there for them.

It was beautiful sitting down the back yard until the mosquito found me and moved me along!

and watched me get the washing off the line...someone has to make sure it is done properly I guess.

Later on I am hoping to cut some more star shapes out of this fabric.

We are off to Canberra tomorrow, hubby has a war gaming thingie on and I am helping with the driving. Have taken lots of sewing and knitting...no shortage of things I can do.

I had....

a lovely surprise this afternoon....a phone call from Shez who was on her way to Queenscliff....did I want to meet for lunch was the question.......well the answer was an obvious Yes!!! So we met at the pickle shop in the main street, but we were both a little confused as we usually find the shop by smell....they cook chutneys and pickles out the back......the shop I shut this week....blinds down, no cooking....that confused us!! Anyway we had a wander around and found this lovely nursery

Shez bought me this lovely bird house as a house moving present...how nice is that??

We met Wayne who owns the nursery.....his wife Julie owns the Port Arlington quilt shop....and the class I am doing in Geelong on Sunday is being taught by...Julie!!! Isn't it a small world!!!! This was a lovely nursery, small but with lots of lovely things in it, I will be back there  again. Wayne didn't want his photo taken so he remains a mystery man!! Lol!!

Lunch on the main street...my fault I made a suggestion of fish and chips and then it was in Shez's mind...a more sensible suggestion of soup and a roll was not acceptable once the fish and chip idea was planted!! Lol!! I have to say it was very nice!

we wandered over here to have a look in the antique shop.....some lovely things in there too.....we went up the 360 tower but I didn't take a photo!!! Only of the toyvoyagers, but you get a wonderful view from the top....

Not bad huh!!

we stopped for a hot drink here...lovely looking place, had a very tempting range of flourless goodies, but I resisted!!

Then we had a wander along the pier...

two skinny ladies!!!Lol!!

on the way back we spied this rainbow colour on the edge of the cloud..Shez reckoned it was a space ship beaming down to earth!! Lol!! Could be, you never know!!

We had to say goodbye, Shez was off to the retreat to sew the weekend away and I had to head home....the sun was heading down over Swan Bay....

I had stopped on the road side and saw this gum on the wattle tree, isn't it a beautiful colour!!

Many thanks Shez for a wonderful afternoon...love spur of the moment get togethers!!! I had the best time! Yay for friends!!
