FNWF

I was lucky and started my FNWF in the afternoon. We had a break in the rain and the sun came out so I decided to baste outside
It was cold out but at least I was a little bit out of the wind

I finished the one above, so decided to do another and had just enough pins!

It is hard to see but the quilt is partially quilted, I have done the serpentine stitch along seam lines.

Just the centre area is done here with serpentine stitch along straight lines again. More needs to be done.

I was watching Silent Witness last night, so gave up the quilting and cut and glued a few more shapes for sewing hearts, not a programme just to listen to.
This quilt top is finished, for now although the instructions say to add another border, but as I made my blocks 10 inches rather than six and a half I think it is big enough. But then I do have half square triangles left from trimming....mmmmm....
So I had a busy afternoon and evening
You can check up on the creations from FNWF's here at Cheryll's blog.
Happy stitching.

Friday Night with Friends

It is that time once again where we join up with our hostess Cheryll to have an evening of fun and stitching.
Some sewing has been happening here this week, not a lot as I have been a bit under the weather
Some strip blocks, just onto wadding, the backing will be added later.

And the cherry quilt has it's border added, different fabric line but I think it goes ok.
Now it needs backing, wadding and quilting.....maybe next week! This one was originally going to the oncology ward but now I think it might go to Jan Mack for her fire relief collection. We will see when it is done.
Now I am off to decide what to do tonight during FNWF.
Happy stitching.

Sunday afternoon

It is very quiet here, our visitors have gone home, the place is sort of tidy. I have been cutting fabric, our leader for the Port sewing group had suggested we sew neck ties for the firies tomorrow, so I have cut several 7 inch strips in preparation.
Ingrid finished this quilt yesterday, made with some of the Advent Blocks from Susan's blog. Ingrid added patterned fabric around the edge, it looks almost art deco I think.

Yesterday I made a shopping bag from two fat quarters I found at Lizzie's Quilt shop, perfect for Belinda at SJOG.

Yesterday I was also sewing jell roll strips into sections of 10.

Ingrid making 4 patches.
Yesterday morning I saw a blog post from Carole, she is doing a live event to make blocks and quilts for Quilts of Valor. As we cannot be there we decided to make a block each to post.

Our calculations making half square triangles was a bit out so we ended up making two blocks each, Ingrid's above

and mine below. Mine are especially well made, twice in fact as I reversed the star points and ended up with squares!! They look much better this way! These will go into the mail to Carole tomorrow.

In between getting a chicken on to roast and peeling the veges, I finished sewing the strips together and made this quilt top. It takes one jelly roll and a  twenty and a half inch centre square. This will probably go to the oncology ward.
Before Ingrid left we auditioned fabrics for the border of the cherry quilt. We decided a piano keys type border might be the go. So I am off to do some more cutting!
Happy stitching.
