Blocks for this and that

Last weeks Anthology block, called Confused Geese (very apt I though while trying to make this!)

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler block mark 2, Yankee Puzzle, I didn't read the instructions properly and was making this in a rush, always a recipe for disaster, my first block came out at 7 inches. This one is around about the right size!

I made these blocks for the current Aussie hero quilt, looked up the size on the internet and they came out half an inch too small, then I remembered I had made them last week....oh dear!!! They have gone into the orphan blocks box.

The poppy blocks came out the right size as they are foundation paper pieced.

Some happy mail has arrive at my house, it was my birthday last week and I was given wonderful presents and flowers and this sloth wall quilt from Ingrid, isn't it cute!!

And Jill very kindly gifted me this wall quilt, Jill was learning foundation paper piecing and these are the blocks she made. So pretty.

Today I have made simple blocks to go in between the poppy blocks for the top and bottom of the Aussie Hero quilt. Here we are part way through. They are finished and added to the quilt now, I am off to sort out some backing.
Happy stitching.

First finish for 2014

Today I finished the poppy blocks for the Aussie Hero Quilts their blocks for Nov, Dec and Jan.
Managed to make 30 so was chuffed with that......

this is part of my next project, but the forecast is for better weather tomorrow so it might not happen! Lol! There could be some sitting reading in the sun to happen!

The bay looks better this afternoon, was very gray and uninviting this morning.
Happy sewing!

Holiday

Well today is a shocking day outside, howling wind and passing showers....perfect day to be inside sewing, so I am working on the poppy blocks, but have been distracted by all the corner bits left over....having known Tania for a while and been encouraged not to waste fabric, I decided to sew a few triangles together and see what happened.....now I am completely distracted from what I was going to do and am playing with tiny triangles and squares......well nearly squares, my cutting is not the best so some are different sizes, to be honest most are different sizes, but I am having fun!!!
lots and lots of little bits, slowly turning into squares....

this is what I should be doing.....not too many more to do....
my heap of bits!!!
Happy sewing!

Saturday

I have had a cutting afternoon this afternoon, have some fabric ready to make more poppy blocks and have the kookaburra quilt straightened (I hope) ready to put the binding on.
I also have to tidy up all the endy bits of cotton from the quilting and take out the pins

ready to roll!
Happy sewing!

FNWF

I am late updating for FNWF as I was at the beach for the weekend and no internet, but I managed to get a couple of things done
a colleague at work wanted a small wallhanging of her Girl Guide (actually I think it said Girl Scout) badge, so I enlarged it on the photocopier, traced the pattern onto the fabric, painted in the badge and then FRQ'd around the painting...now for the trimming and binding!.....

and I had a go at two poppy blocks....they are needed here and they appealed to me...they need a black circle in the middle so have to get to that soon.
Hope everyone  enjoyed their FNWF and you can find what other people did here.... many thanks to Cheryll.
Happy sewing.
