In South Australia.....

Do you know that song??In South Australia I was born....heave away, haul away???? My DH is seriously risking his life being extremely shortened by singing it since we have arrived here in Robe!!! Once it is in his head that is the end of peace and quiet!!!
We came through Cressy and up to Hamilton, then through to Penola and now to Robe, has been a cloudy day, but not a lot of traffic on the road which is good.
Of course I had to go out and do some geocaching...no luck at the first site, but found one at the old cemetry, it was interesting walking around the old head stones , reading the names and the family connections.....

..walking with DH...me as usual lagging behind!! lol!!

we walked back past the boat harbour....cold but lovely  sky.....

...waiting for the sunset...sadly it was not to be, too many clouds on the horizon.
Off now to the motel for a G & T and some stitching.
Happy sewing.

Playing around...

...a few days ago I was reading Fiona from BubzRugz blog and saw she was starting work (with friends) on one of the Elm Creek Quilts books, Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.....I commented that I had that book too...and got invited to join in...I ummed and ahhed for about 5 seconds and then said Yes! Great idea! So tonight I got out the book and made the Bright Hopes block...is my first attempt at foundation piecing......I had a lesson on the basics from Tania last weekend.....it isn't perfect but I am happy with it.
this is the book.....

and block number one!! The light is not so good in here tonight will take another photo in the daylight.

Fun day....

..well mostly...we went to the hospital with Tania today and the news was better than expected, Tania will be monitored with a scan and blood test every three months, no further treatment at the moment....so that is good.
Then we made our way to Marinas and met up with Marina, Anne, Annie and Marina's Mum Claire. We did some sewing and then went to the golf club for lunch....
spaghetti bol for Annie......fish and chips for Marg....

chicken schnitzel for Tania...

Marina and Robyn.......woops missed their lunch!! Lol!!

Marg and myself.....

Ladies who lunch!!!! We had a lovely time, great meal, lots of chat and then a little sewing...how good is a day like that???
Earlier at Marina's I went up the hallway  to find the source of much giggling....ah ha...a gathering in Marina's sewing room......

I now have a severe case of pin cushion envy.....look at this beautiful collection!!!! Wow!!! Hasn't  Marina made a beautiful display??
I didn't  get photos of what everyone was working on but here
we have Tanias wonderful hexies, she only has four and a half to go and she has finished the blocks for this quilt top.....this is the exciting time when the finish is in sight......

and Marg was working on her Irene Blanck quilt Message in a bottle.....it is going to be amazing. I was working on hexies, Marina and Anne were doing a stitchery and Robyn some appliqué, Claire was doing a beautiful cross stitch.
Now we have travelled back to Gisborne, full and happy....I always come away from these get togethers feeling so happy.....thank you ladies for another wonderful fun get together.
Happy sewing.

Sunday.....

..for me was  a day of cleaning, walking the dog,  a little unpacking and then off to visit Tania, but wasn't a beautiful day?
..when we left Gisborne I gathered a heap of daffodil bulbs the rabbits had dug up and planted them at St Leonards.....they are starting to flower already....I have seen lots of bulbs in flower around this area....it seems to early to me, but maybe that is what happens on the Bellarine.

the camelia is looking beautiful....

Ollie in his favourite place...right next to his Mum!!

dinner!!!! Yum!!! Tania cooked roast
pork and yummy roast veges.....spoilt wasn't  I??

then we settled down to watch the movie The Waterhorse.....I hadn't  seen it before.....lovely movie, I really  enjoyed it.

and some secret quilting was completed!! Yay!!
Tomorrow Marg and I are off to the hospital with Tania for her oncology visit and then off to visit Marina for a sit and sew...and chat!!
Happy sewing.

FNWF

I had a pleasant night sewing with everyone last night...the footie was on the tv so no distractions for me!! Lol!!
I finished the binding on another quilt from the Guild, that will be heading to the Childrens Hospital
Pretty quilt isn't it! I am enjoying finishing the binding..get fast results with minimal effort!! Lol!! A finished quilt quickly!!

I also sewed some hexies onto the quilt....I had already sewn these on last Thursday, but had sewn them all in the wrong place!!!!!! Duh!!!! So off they came.....

this one now is in the right place....

as is this one...later today I will attempt to get them sewn on again...I am off in a minute to a welcome afternoon tea for new members of the Geelong Patchwork and Quilting Guild...so have been told to take some hand stitching....so hexies will be perfect, not they are in the right place!!!

When at Port Arlington last Thursday I called in to Patchwork and Rusty Pins (LQS for Port) and found some treasures...love this fabric!! Had better get myself sorted and on the road...
happy sewing.

PS I forgot to say, you can see what the other FNWFer's got up to over at Cheryll's place.....she has been sewing up a storm in her caravan!!
