Retreat Gisborne Day 1

We had a good run here today, very little traffic and road noise.
I have been stitching sashing onto panels and gave completed two tops, makes for a quick quilt.
Animals 1
I was given this panel at the Guild. I also found 2 large pieces in the free to a good home tub,  so have backing for both quilts.
Margaret and Maxine are working on the same pattern , both using scraps, will get a better photo tomorrow.
Judy's friend, Christine, has put together some blocks for her into a lovely quilt top.
Off to bed now
Happy stitching.

Retreat and back home

Retreat has come and gone, a good and productive time was had by all
Maria made a beautiful quilt from bits and pieces she has been given
This is another quilt made by Maria, blocks and fabric from a long time quilter friend who has passes. Some of the fabric was hand dyed.
Carleen is working on her Swoon blocks

This quilt is now quilted and ready  for binding I have endy bits to sew in
This quilt is also quilted and ready to be bound.
Another block made by Carleen for her Swoon quilt,
This quilt is also quilted and ready to be bound - my target was to get 4 quilts quilted and I managed that, was was very happy!
I rhought I had more photos  but maybe I was too busy sewing to get them!
It was a great few days with wonderful people.

Gisborne retreat third day

Today has been another day of sewing and outdoor adventures. We went to a CITO, which is Cache in Trash out, part of geocaching. We met at a local Gisborne Cafe and then went to the park to do a clean up
This was what was gathered after half and hour of 14 people gathering the rubbish they could find.
Back at the retreat
I made a Anthology block and started the second, but I hadn't cut enough fabric  so that one will have to be finished at home.
These blocks are in a quilt top, despite me making a mistake,  a border to add and something on the green block to be done at home too.
Ingrid gave me these blocks quite a long time ago so I am happy to have put them together.
I have put together other blocks I have been given but need to make one more block, my counting was wrong at home and I am one short
I am off to sew a little more
Happy stitching.

Gisborne retreat Day 1 and 2

Monday saw Carleen and I heading for Gisborne, we dropped off 4 quilts at SJOG for the Oncology ward  and then headed off to Bacchus Marsh where we got last minute groceries and then came to Gisborne.
I have been quilting more Oncology quilts
this one is quilted and bound
this one is quilted.
I am just beginning on the third one.
Carleen's beautiful block
Maxine block
today became 2 blocks
with more appearing
Maria is working on green blocks still using strips we had last October
another green quilt under development
Judy was given these blocks and has finished up the last few blocks and is not joining them together
Judy joined other orphan blocks were joined yesterday and will get borders at home.
Sue is joining these blocks together, it has taken some renewing as the vlocks were made on a different machine and the quarter inch seams are different. It will be stunning when it is done.
Maria and I attempted to go for a walk this morning
the trees are such beautiful autumn colours
love this painting on the back of the supermarket.
We didn't walk far as a rain shower was coming, so visited the shopping centre, then an op shop and back to sew.
More quilting to be done before dinner now.
Happy stitching.

Back upstairs

This ladt week has been lots of carrying upstairs and unpacking, washing and dusting,  things are slowly getting back towards normal.
New rugs down and furniture back, most of the cabinets contents are unpacked,
still a few more things to find for the wall units
kitchen is still waiting for a splashback and a few other things but is nearly fully usable,  doors coming for the cabinet above the fridge.
but my sewing room is not finished 😪 rhe furniture removal men were different to the ones who outlet the desk apart and the guys who came Wednesday had NO idea what to do with it. So we are waiting for the kitchen reno guys to come and see if they can do anything with it . Fingers crossed!! It is quite heavy so I can't lift up myself.
Not a lot of sewing has been happening for obvious reasons, but the textile piece is done,  just the label to sew on.
I am supposed to sew D rings on the back fir it to be hung but the local hardware didn't have any, I am hoping plain rings will be ok. Tomorrow I am off to Gisborne for a few days retreat , am looking forward to that.
Happy stitching.

Carleen made a magnificent pavlova

And is working on a beautiful top with Japanese fabrics.

Sunny and frosty this morning

The sun is shining and the mist is rising

There are some beautiful quilts hanging here

This scrappy quilt is stunning.

This wall hanging is near the front door

Love this suitcase of quilts

Sue is working on a beautiful sashiko

I have been making the mystery quilt from the Guild,  have the blocks done and hope to get them joined up today,  the whole quilt has to stay a mystery for now.
