This and that....

We are in a holiday rental for two days while the flooring goes down in our house....chow chow not happy as he has to stay outside!!
I did manage to finish my pin cushion and am very happy with it

I have to glue the hexie in the base, but the glue is packed away, so will get to that later.
Tupai and I went out geocaching yesterday, it was a lovely day, we wandered around Port Arlington
The view from the top of the hill on Tower Road...

Lovely grass seeds..

The old Flour Mill...through the fence....

the beach at Indented Head...took Tupai for a swim but he was frightened of the waves!!! Lol!!
Today it is cold and raining on and off...good day for sewing and knitting!!
Happy sewing.

Out and about again....

I have been back up to Gisborne on the weekend and went with Marg and Tania and Marina to the Sunbury Quilt in...it was a day of fun and laughter, lovely show and tell to look at and some shops to be tempted by!,
I stopped in Bacchus Marsh on the way through...I could smell smoke in the air so think this was smoke from peoples fires held down by the cold and boy it was cold!! I got back in the car quick smart!!
Show and tell...the same pattern done with three different colour ways.....

I think these were Globe trotting quilts...an on line project......

Isn't this amazing??

This quilt was made because the ladies son said he was getting engaged, and his girlfriend loved bright  pink, but as the quilt was finished they broke up.....no new girlfriend on the horizon as yet, but we all hope she likes pink!!!!

The speaker was Vicki Jenkin who is a machine quilter who makes the most beautiful quilts and does amazing quilting...

Loved this one made from an old tea cloth...with most of her quilts the quilting on the back was as amazing as it was on the front.

Here are the lovely ladies, Robyn, Elyte, Ann, miss hard to photograph Marina, Marina..the cooperative one lol, Tania, Gabby, Marg and Carol.

Hee hee got Miss Hard to Photograph!!

Oh boy, now look at her....eyes in the back of the head!!! Lol!! Well she does say  she sees all, so here is the proof!!! Lol!!      She actually said I captured her best side, but I didn't agree with that!

I was lucky to win two lucky number prizes, a pincushion, little purse, and an amazing cotton reel holder form one of the shops there on the day!! Very lucky I was.

On the was back into Geelong today I was following this ice cream van....after about 5 mins I noticed the number plate....the  I had to wait for the third set of lights to go red to get a photo!! Made me giggle!!

I went to a pincushion making class at the Geelong Club this afternoon....the mens club where women are not allowed even to this day.....there was a display by the Artisans of Geelong of things they had made to be displayed at the Johnson Collection in Melbourne.....there were some beautiful things, but I didn't get any photos...but I hope to get the pincushion finished tomorrow.
oh and I finished the stitchery I was working on and started another.....
Quite a productive weekend for me!! Right off to finish that pincushion!
Happy sewing.

I had....

a lovely surprise this afternoon....a phone call from Shez who was on her way to Queenscliff....did I want to meet for lunch was the question.......well the answer was an obvious Yes!!! So we met at the pickle shop in the main street, but we were both a little confused as we usually find the shop by smell....they cook chutneys and pickles out the back......the shop I shut this week....blinds down, no cooking....that confused us!! Anyway we had a wander around and found this lovely nursery
Shez bought me this lovely bird house as a house moving present...how nice is that??

We met Wayne who owns the nursery.....his wife Julie owns the Port Arlington quilt shop....and the class I am doing in Geelong on Sunday is being taught by...Julie!!! Isn't it a small world!!!! This was a lovely nursery, small but with lots of lovely things in it, I will be back there  again. Wayne didn't want his photo taken so he remains a mystery man!! Lol!!

Lunch on the main street...my fault I made a suggestion of fish and chips and then it was in Shez's mind...a more sensible suggestion of soup and a roll was not acceptable once the fish and chip idea was planted!! Lol!! I have to say it was very nice!

we wandered over here to have a look in the antique shop.....some lovely things in there too.....we went up the 360 tower but I didn't take a photo!!! Only of the toyvoyagers, but you get a wonderful view from the top....
Not bad huh!!

we stopped for a hot drink here...lovely looking place, had a very tempting range of flourless goodies, but I resisted!!

Then we had a wander along the pier...
two skinny ladies!!!Lol!!

on the way back we spied this rainbow colour on the edge of the cloud..Shez reckoned it was a space ship beaming down to earth!! Lol!! Could be, you never know!!

We had to say goodbye, Shez was off to the retreat to sew the weekend away and I had to head home....the sun was heading down over Swan Bay....

I had stopped on the road side and saw this gum on the wattle tree, isn't it a beautiful colour!!
Many thanks Shez for a wonderful afternoon...love spur of the moment get togethers!!! I had the best time! Yay for friends!!

Happy sewing.

A finish

The pincushion is done...I stuffed it as firmly as I could as per the instructions, but think the hexies have lost their puffiness, think I like the back better than the front now!! Lol!!
front...should have put the wonky bit around the back for photo taking!! Lol!!

back...
When I was down the street today I spied an unusual bicycle so went to have a look....
Have no idea what active by the sea is, but was impressed with the bike...isn't that clever??

I think this is the wreck of the steam paddle ship at Indented Head...

and the kiosk (below) at St Leonards...complete with resident pelican...very clever I thought!

Kiosk at the end of the pier, only open in the summer...

quite a nice day at the moment although there was a southerly blowing so was a hard ride home!!

some more secret sewing happening....have to try and get machine sewing done today or tomorrow as tradies are coming inMonday or Tuesday to start the flooring and we have to leave for two days! Everything has to be packed away and the lounge room furniture moved into the bedroom.....groan...but once that is done we are FINISHED!!!! Yay!!!!
Ok following Antheas very clear instructions I am off to get dinner and then sew!!
Happy sewing!!

Some sewing.....

has been happening here, although it is secret sewing so I can't show much
secret sewing under way.....not much a fan of sewing with gold thread it keeps breaking even though I am going really slowly!!

The hexies are joined together and tonight I will launch into the quilting....
Do you know the books you can get...1001 Walks to do before you die, or 1001 Countries to visit before you die??? Well.....  Tupai is going to put out a book called 1001 things to wee on every time you go for a walk!!!!!!  Boy today was a slow walk...obviously being a holiday weekend there were lots more dogs here than usual and where every one had been, had to be checked out and Tupais presence re-established!!!!  Lets see what happens tomorrow!! Right I am off to do a little more sewing and then a soak in the new bath!! Luxury....now just to get DH to cook dinner and my day is complete!!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Walking the dog

This morning I thought I was going to help DH with the painting, but I got to do the sanding...of the new plaster...phew....what a horrible job!!!! The dust goes everywhere...and I mean everywhere.....
the wall in question...

I left my mark..Lol!!!

and this mark...woops.....
this afternoon Tupai and I went off for a walk...took the toyvoyagers and decided to do some geocaching at the same time!
we went off along the Edwards Point track...Scoop the toyvoyager leading the way....

love this track, there was an amazing tree along here, it curled around on its self, sadly it has fallen over now...

mmmm...someone is waiting, waiting....heading to the Salt Marsh...

we came out on the beach and walked 300 metres up to find a geocache, then headed back home...

had a little rest on the way back.....three hours walking is quite a lot for us!! But we had a great time...off to peel the veges for a roast now, then maybe some sewing...
Happy sewing.
