This

week is flying past! I was just trying to remember what I did on Monday and I think I was cutting out little people, Tuesday was sit and sew at Seachange, and a very pleasant morning it was. In the afternoon I went to visit a quilting friend who is in rehabilitation after a fall. Her poor face still had the marks of the serious bruising she had, she is hoping to get back home, but I am not sure she will be allowed. She has very rapid Parkinsons so her future is not the best. We did have a good chat though, about life and about taking advantage of opportunities when they arise and enjoying each and every day! I stopped at Rippleside Park on the way home to look for a geocache and to get some fresh air.
The little people are finished now, well they are sewn on to the centre section
they need faces but that will happen in the fullness of time!! lol!!
I have been spending the evenings hand sewing the binding down on these two quilts from the Guild

they are put together in Bacchus marsh and then brought along for the final hand sewing. Love the Duck Duck Goose.

This is a lovely under the sea quilt.
Don't forget that this Friday is Friday Night with Friends
Time to sign up with our hostess Cheryll for a night of virtual sewing with friends.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday

I went to Jiddi's Patch for a hand quilting class with Julie Adamson. I was a bit apprehensive as this kind of quilting is new to me, but we had a fun relaxed class and I learned heaps!!
Some of Julie's beautiful quilts she brought along to show us...all hand quilted and applique by hand too.

Isn't the detail amazing??

Class in action.

Julie showing us the rocking method

another of her beautiful applique and hand quilted quilts.

This is a shocking photo but this was my effort by the end of the class. We had to do a lot of quilting and then pulling out as we practiced in the morning. I was tired by the end of the class, there was so much to absorb!
Last night I was playing cut outs with these little people, I have one more to do, then they get ironed onto the centre of a quilt...yes I now I do not need another project to do!!! They are from the Freya and friends book.
But I was able to watch the
win the Bledisloe Cup, it was a nail biter there for a while, the cutting out was forgotten!!
The Supervisor and I went for a walk this morning despite the wind and rain and down in the park found these

Freesias growing wild. This is a sign to me that Spring is not far away! the perfume is already filling the house!!
I am off now to have some lunch and to get sewing.
Happy sewing and weekend.

Back home again

This has been a  busy week, Wednesday I headed up to Gisborne for a hairdressing appt and an afternoon of stitching and chatting at Donna's in her studio
In the evening when we went back to the house some locals had come for a visit

they were not bothered by us having a look at them,

they are all regulars at Donna's.
Thursday I wandered back home and did some geocaching on the way
I discovered that Houdini flew a plane he had brought from France with him while on an entertainment tour, in Diggers Rest! The things you discover while out geocaching!!

It was a beautiful late morning

lots of cloud coming in though.
When I arrived home I found some happy mail that brought a BIG smile to my face!

A pattern from Susan at Thimble Stitch, her first! Love her Doing the Rounds quilt. You can buy this pattern from Susan.

and a beautiful fat quarter from Michelle, wonderful Aboriginal fabric, posted from Humpty Doo!! What a great place name! Thank you Michelle I love it!

Today I have been into Geelong to a birthday lunch for Linda, for her three score and ten birthday. It was at La Vista Italian restaurant, we had a wonderful meal and good time.
On the way home I looked for one geocache, it said in the note to beware of the cache guardian

I understand why now!!
Some stitching has been happening
I have one legless lady to fix up

and one armless maid!! Lucky I saw them now!
I am off to do some secret sewing.

Happy sewing and happy weekend.

Time flies

Well the last few days have flown by, Saturday was Guild day and was the AGM followed by a regular meeting and then a committee meeting, there was some lovely show and tell
Mary made this beautiful quilt, she liked the idea so researched it on the internet and then made it!!It is stunning up close.

Lisa made this for her sister, it is made from 1970 fabric swatches plus an African panel in the centre.

Sue C made this quilt for a member of her family, the whales are fantastic.
Sunday we went up toSunbury, 2 hours there and a bit longer back as hubby took a wrong turning and we had to double back. It was a glorious day and we got to watch son # 2 play soccer, the team   had a win so everyone was happy!
Monday was stitching at Bellarine, one member had a special birthday and had a special cake made by another member
TRacey and Lesley preparing the humming bird birthday cake.

Happy birthday to Linda.

Barb was working on her tiny stars, love the fabric she is using.
Today I have been over to Seachange Quilters at Barwon heads, we had a great morning of sit and sew and chat!! After sewing I had a walk around the Bluff, it is a beautiful day to be outside
Heading off along the path

Up the top of the Bluff, it was a little windy but not too bad.
I stopped at Ocean Grove on my way home to look for a geocache and found this fungi
I did eventually found the cache once my brain got into gear!! And I also found a small lake at Ocean Grove, didn't know that was there!!

I am slowly plugging away at the Christmas stitchery..slowly slowly does it!
I have to go and type up the minutes of the committee meeting now.......
Happy stitching!

Yesterday and today

Yesterday the Supervisor and I went for a walk along the beach
it was a bit cloudy but good for walking

the tide was high,
we came back thru a new bush track

and found some fungi

a wattle tree in bloom

and more fungi growing from a tree branch under the ground.
Last night I finished the quilt for the Guild
just the label to sew on

and the quilting on the bear quilt is finished too, the binding on, just the hand sewing to do.
Today I have made another two churn dash blocks, I made a few blunders and had to bin one and start again
I was very happy to finish these two and then realised I had used two different reds in the one on the left!! Aghhhhh!!! Might just keep it and see how I go in the future.

Poor sad mistakes that are heading for the bin!!
Seems to be the case today!!
Happy sewing.
