This and that

The Supervisor and I had a lovely walk along the beach yesterday
we noticed some fungi coming up

the tide was very high and the sun shining, and yes it was very windy but still very pleasant

more fungi
Later in the morning I went over to Portarlington to deliver some quilts to Joan of Faraway Quilts. Joan very kindly quilts the hospital quilts for me. After visiting Joan I went to Clifton Springs to look for a geocache

I am standing on a look out taking this photo and underneath is a cache. I have been here three times and happily, yesterday I finally found it!

You can see the supports of an old wharf that used to be here.

The fish and turtles are all ironed on and ready to be sewn.

Two nights ago I finished another Old Time Kaleidoscope block, happy smiles here!

Hubby has been weeding and mulching the front garden, we have one rose there that is flowering like mad, the perfume of the flowers is beautiful.

I had a lovely surprise in the mail from Ingrid, gorgeous fish fabric, I might use this on the back of the current Aussie Hero quilt.
Lots to do today so I had better get going.
Happy stitching.

Catching up once again!

I seemed to have lost the blogging mojo for a while since being back home, but today seems to be day to resume...well to try to!
So what has been happening here, some things we see when walking the Supervisor
galahs having a chat on the power lines

peaceful time on the beach

interesting fungi

a shag drying out on the jetty

when clearing out some stuff I found a pattern for a quilt, so decided to give it a go..the Supervisor helped me with the block layout!

a better view once he moved on...made from a jelly roll, with enough left over to do the binding. The Guild are thinking of making quilts for the Oncology ward at one of the local hospitals....well no, I am hoping more Guild ladies will get on board and make some quilts, quilt tops or blocks...going to have to get into motivating mode I think!

I fancied some bread like food to have with soup so made some Paleo banana and coconut bread from a book Shez gave me. Tastes good and freezes well.

The Supervisor is happy to have me home and follows me everywhere unless hubby has food, then it is a different matter!!

we had the most beautiful sunrise yesterday..hubby woke me up to have a look...

the photos do not do the colours justice, but it was beautiful to see.
I am off to do some more sewing.
Have a wonderful day.

Time flies

Well the last few days have flown by, Saturday was Guild day and was the AGM followed by a regular meeting and then a committee meeting, there was some lovely show and tell
Mary made this beautiful quilt, she liked the idea so researched it on the internet and then made it!!It is stunning up close.

Lisa made this for her sister, it is made from 1970 fabric swatches plus an African panel in the centre.

Sue C made this quilt for a member of her family, the whales are fantastic.
Sunday we went up toSunbury, 2 hours there and a bit longer back as hubby took a wrong turning and we had to double back. It was a glorious day and we got to watch son # 2 play soccer, the team   had a win so everyone was happy!
Monday was stitching at Bellarine, one member had a special birthday and had a special cake made by another member
TRacey and Lesley preparing the humming bird birthday cake.

Happy birthday to Linda.

Barb was working on her tiny stars, love the fabric she is using.
Today I have been over to Seachange Quilters at Barwon heads, we had a great morning of sit and sew and chat!! After sewing I had a walk around the Bluff, it is a beautiful day to be outside
Heading off along the path

Up the top of the Bluff, it was a little windy but not too bad.
I stopped at Ocean Grove on my way home to look for a geocache and found this fungi
I did eventually found the cache once my brain got into gear!! And I also found a small lake at Ocean Grove, didn't know that was there!!

I am slowly plugging away at the Christmas stitchery..slowly slowly does it!
I have to go and type up the minutes of the committee meeting now.......
Happy stitching!

Yesterday and today

Yesterday the Supervisor and I went for a walk along the beach
it was a bit cloudy but good for walking

the tide was high,
we came back thru a new bush track

and found some fungi

a wattle tree in bloom

and more fungi growing from a tree branch under the ground.
Last night I finished the quilt for the Guild
just the label to sew on

and the quilting on the bear quilt is finished too, the binding on, just the hand sewing to do.
Today I have made another two churn dash blocks, I made a few blunders and had to bin one and start again
I was very happy to finish these two and then realised I had used two different reds in the one on the left!! Aghhhhh!!! Might just keep it and see how I go in the future.

Poor sad mistakes that are heading for the bin!!
Seems to be the case today!!
Happy sewing.

Sewing day

Today I have been down to St Leonard's for sit and sew with the local ladies, I decided to walk today as the weather was good
I spied this heron wandering along the beach looking for lunch, on my way back home

It looked like the weather was changing but no rain has fallen.

It always amazes me that fungi push their way up through the ground and mulch.

One loan pelican was sitting near the boat ramp
This months challenge for the Row by Row is flying geese, so I asked Mr Google for some help and found a one seam flying geese, (or is that goose?) as taught by Rickie Timms. So I thought I would have a go and managed to get a row done. Then I got carried away as I had seen the same thing on the Missouri Star Quilt Co, but it had been made into a Christmas Advent calendar...Christmas geese, that seemed like a good idea
Hee hee!!

Ta dah!! All ready to quilt, I am going to have a go at hand quilting, once I do a bit of reading up on how to do it!

the geese make little pockets, where you can put Christmas goodies.
I have just been given a G & T so will say goodbye for now
Happy sewing.

The last few days

I have been getting ready to go on retreat to Woodend. But I have also been taking the supervisor for a walk each morning too, is good for both of us!!
Friday was a beautiful day, we had a walk at Indented Head

followed by a swim (and then a bath for Tupai...he was NOT impressed!!)

we saw a pelican sitting on a rock watching the world go by
back home I knuckled down and got some things organised

angels for the Christmas Row by Row......I then realised I forgot something important!! Their wings!! Duh!!!

Friday night I stitched together a hexagon

the wings are on now! Phew!!

and as I am not starting anything new......I am playing with these Barb Smith buttons!!

some  snow people are taking shape for the Christmas row by row

I am hoping they will look like they are being seen thru a window when I have finished, we shall see!

I have finished the tea cup bears into their hexie shapes, now to join them together, another lovely pattern from Michelle Ridgway.

today the weather is not so good, we have had some rain here but not much, it seems to be more towards the city

I thought this was a rock until I had a closer look, isn't nature clever!!I had better be off and get some things done, like house cleaning, not my most favourite job I must admit!!
Happy sewing.
