Foundation Paper Piecing

Thus week has been spent making the foundation paper piecing blocks, for the raffle quilt at the Bellarine Quilters exhibition next year.  I have managed to make 5 blocks now and have run out of black fabric, hopefully I can get more Monday.
And here they are laid out together
Mary was here today making her first block and learning about foundation paper piecing, she will be back to continue tomorrow.
I am off for a soak in the bath.
Happy stitching.

Home

My sewing mojo left me for several days, but instead I have been reading lots of books and going for bike rides.

Overcast days and

Beautifully sunny days.
I have been to the park with Beth and Finn

Today I decided I needed to get on with a foundation pieced pattern being made for Bellarine Quilters, this might go towards the raffle quilt for next year.
This is my block
And what I have done so far
I went and had a cuppa and came back, trimmed the seam that needed trimming and had a woops
Mmmmm not quite right!!
Unpicking done and now to go and cut another piece.
Happy stitching.

Yesterday

Was the Geelong Patchwork and Quilters Guild Quilt In, held at West Geelong Town hall. The committee had an 8am start to get things set up, the traders started to arrive around 8.30 and early birds from 9.30, even though we opened at 10am.
We had wonderful traders and a great speaker,  a big crowd of 242 people and everyone seemed to have had a great day.
I left my phone at home so I have pinched some photos from one of the Bellarine ladies
The crowd doing the stretching and breathing exercises, out President is an ex Physio 😊
Our speaker Veronique Diligent explaining her work
She does the most beautiful applique, the ones above are her stress stitching, that is she does it to avoid stress, beautiful little birds and houses and trees, the embroidery is done with one strand of floss.
Some of her blocks are made into beautiful books, the colours are wonderful.
Some shopping happened
End of roll for backing and fabric hopefully foe an upcoming class
Special pens and doilies
An Indian thread  spool? Is that what I should be calling it? That has a use that will be done one day 🙄🤔
a zippy bag and broach for a knitty friend
And I have had one finish
Blogger has gone sideways!
A child's quilt. Another one is on the machine, but thus afternoon I am off for grandma duties so the parents can go for a coffee and chat uninterrupted.
Happy stitching.

Last day of retreat

Christine has bordered a scrap quilt made from Judy's scraps

Great effort
Another top is going together,  this one is Maria's I think 🤔

My Kwandi is finished, this was started with a class at the Guild with Irene Blanck.
This Quilt is being made by Maria, she found the centre at an op shop and has added borders.
Back home I have sandwiched three quilt tops, only took one photo
It was lovely out the back yesterday afternoon.
Last night we went out for an early Mothers Day dinner

Finn was taken with the guitar player and got up to dance. He had a great evening, as did we all.

Happy stitching.

Retreat Gisborne Day 1

We had a good run here today, very little traffic and road noise.
I have been stitching sashing onto panels and gave completed two tops, makes for a quick quilt.
Animals 1
I was given this panel at the Guild. I also found 2 large pieces in the free to a good home tub,  so have backing for both quilts.
Margaret and Maxine are working on the same pattern , both using scraps, will get a better photo tomorrow.
Judy's friend, Christine, has put together some blocks for her into a lovely quilt top.
Off to bed now
Happy stitching.

I had a lovely afternoon out with Finn and Adam, we had a play, shared some ice cream and then headed home.

I am off to the ATM to get some money to pay for retreat to Gisborne next week.
