Busy day

I am wondering if chatting on the phone for an hour constitutes a busy day?? It feels like it when I notice the time is nearly 5pm and I an wondering what I have done today! I had morning tea with some lovely ladies over at Van Loons nursery, they have a wonderful nursery and great cafe...I have the gf cheescake for later in the fridge!! After that I went over to Portarlington and quilted a quilt for the book reading group, I had some problems with the tension again, but no unpicking thank goodness.
I had planned to trim and bind this afternoon, but we all know what happens to the best laid plans!!
I have also finished another three little hexies for the Doing the Rounds quilt
I am linking up with Anthea over at Hibiscus stitches to celebrate all things EPP

I think I am nearly ready to add them all to their background...I need to get a move on as the next months BOM will be here before I know it!
After sewing at St Leonards yesterday I rode my bike homewards in a round about direction and found two new geocaches..it was about a 4km ride...this road was bumpy but no cars which was wonderful!
I had better go and get some trimming done.
Happy sewing.

Boxing Day

We have had a few very happy days, BBQ dinners with the boys, present swapping, roast dinner, drinking and talking and laughing, it has been great to catch up with Adam and Shane. Yesterday the males of the family had a wargame and I sat outside in the sun and cut more circles
A few have their gathering stitch now
The latest Aussie hero quilt is finished and ready to go in the post in the morning
My helper showing his best side!!

the request was for deer hunting, German wire haired pointers (dogs) and the Roman numeral 3. I hope he likes it!!

Quilt and box of goodies packed and ready to be sealed.
Always good to grab a family photo when we are all together!

I have started a new Wasgij.....yep jigsaw backwards, the picture on the box is not the puzzle you are doing

the picture is from the perspective  of the fish on the back wall! Keep the gray matter active!

I was sent this wonderful present from Ondrea, a beautiful stitched pincushion, pins and wash cloth...in my favourite colours too!! Thank you very much Ondera, you are a lovely person!

The Guild in Geelong was approached to make some quilts to be used for reading circles with Mums and children or carers and children. They are being used in a new group to encourage reading together. So the guild has taken this challenge up, I cut up a panel and now am putting plain fabric around them in different widths.

here are a few joined together...just playing with ideas, I will have to see how it grows.
There is a fun swap over at Anthea's blog..I will do a little cut and pasting
it is all about Australia Day

FIVE items are chosen & sent to your partner. They each must start with one letter from the word AUSTRALIA & at least one item must bear the Australian flag.
Here's some ideas - have fun being as creative as you like:
*A - Australian flag item such as serviettes, paper bunting, little cocktail glass flags/umbrellas
*U - utensil, utterly gorgeous lace
*S - seeds for flowers/herbs, stripey fabric, small sunscreen, sewing thread
*T - craft trims, tea towel (patriotic?), tape measure, tealight candle
*R - rubber bands, ribbon, red buttons, recipe
*A - aqua fabric, apple-print fabric, Australian Tea
*L - lovely hand cream, lollies, liquorice
*I - infuser for tea leaves, ice cube tray, re-usable ice cubes, gel ice pack
*A - Australian fabric, apron, aloe gel
(for example, you might send items starting with A, I, L, R & T)
Label each item with the letter they represent & your own description of that - wrapping of individual items is senders choice.
All items may be purchased - no requirement to make anything.
Please only send FIVE items - strictly no extras - this hopefully gives you enough scope to make this a fun swap, but keep postal costs reasonable.
It is good fun, I did it last year.
See what I mean, fun!! I hope the model is ok with me sharing this photo!!
I had better head off back to the sewing machine and do some more creating.
Happy sewing.

Link up and catch up

This week is zipping on by!! I am linking up with Anthea at Hibiscus Stitches to celebrate all things EPP - mu contribution this week is a bit poor but EPP none the less
I have done a bit more than this, but I was working on this one on Tuesday, but more talking happened than stitching! Still every little bit helps!
If you go over to Antheas blog you can see what else is happening with EPP.
I have signed up to do another two Aussie hero quilts, one with dinosaurs - how good is that timing!! I must have known something when I bought the panel in NZ!! I have it ready to be sandwiched
It is not a very good photo I am sorry, it will go to the service persons son on his return home, the son is 4 and loves dinosaurs. Hubby returned home this afternoon and asked why I had emu feet all over the top of the quilt.....I suggested he could go away for a few more days!!
The second request is for a Minions quilt, I have a panel with Minions, so I am adding blue to the sides and top and then appliqueing

these guys around the sides. This quilt will also go to the son of a service person. Minions always make me feel happy!
We had rain this morning but this afternoon is beautiful.
Yesterday the Supervisor and I had a walk along the beach
I should have taken the lead off first, we both ended up with wet feet!!
At St Leonards sewing group this morning Mary showed her progress with her Japanese quilt, this has been sewn and unpicked a few times so it is good to see the progress now.
This afternoon I put the binding on a Quilt for Others from the Seachange group

now it needs the hand sewing and label sewn on and it cango in the ready for distribution bin.
I have also traced off another 6 blocks ready to be painted, might do some more painting in the morning, will see how we go.
Happy sewing.
