Bits and bobs

Today I have done little bits of this and that and not a whole lot of anything!! #2 son happily presented me with a pair of jeans that needed hemming
a pair of jeans on my sewing machine and they are not mine!!!! Actual to be honest I don't mind and they don't take long to do....

this was a little table runner I started yesterday and finished today..very simple...

and a little quilt done, just needs a little hand sewing...

the first of three Blankets of Love under construction...

they need trimming, sandwiching...

and quilting....

I traced this beautiful bear to stitch..,,, this is from Michelle Ridgway...

and this afternoon I made another star fruit cushion...looks a bit sad without it's stuffing doesn't it!!
I had better go and get dinner sorted or we will be eating after 8pm again!!
Happy sewing.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone...hope it is a healthy, happy and productive one for all.
Well despite the very hot weather I have been in the kitchen making chutney and sauce..the plums are ready and I wanted some before the birds ate them all
also the beetroot decided to be ready all at the same time, so now we have jars of happiness!! lol!!
I finally got to do some sewing yesterday..some is secret so can't be shown yet, others are blocks that have wanting attention for most of last year...
now they are sandwiched, quilted and done...such a good feeling!!I have another two to do.
In November I joined a postcard swap group hosted by Sheila...she has some lovely things on her blog, well worth a look...I sent this card on Dec 2nd to Linda and it arrived yesterday in Canada...must have been traveling with Santa...or decided to have a round the world trip.....I am very happy it finally arrived.
I received this card
from Linda..who also has many beautiful creations on her blog. Love this fabric and Linda's quilting is amazing!!
I am off now to go make friends with the sewing machine!!
Have a wonderful day.

Happy Days

I have been happily pottering around at home today....hasn't it been hot and sticky......I did have a quick trip to the quilt shop........shhh........I had to help DH dismantle a shelf unit today...was full of spiders and webs...not my idea of fun I must say!! I did manage to get some sewing done and nearly finished two Blankets of Love, just need to finish off the hand stitching on the bottom before sending them off to the lovely Cheryll.

Would you believe  I sent DH off to Kyneton...well he was going there anyway so I didn't really send him......with the army gear that was hanging in the hall cupboard that the boys had left behind.......there is a great fancy dress shop in Kyneton and they love that stuff........DH did find the shop and did drop off the jackets, coats etc but came home with HATS!!!!!
Yep, just what we need as we are packing to move house......I am told an English Civil War game is being played this weekend and these will be perfect!!! Mmmmmmmm.....to be fair I guess I did bring a little more fabric in to the house today.....but still!!! Lol!!
Happy days!!

Found it!!

Well my motivation seemed to come back after I got off the computer...strange that!! Lol!! And no Tracee my marbles are all here not in the oatmeal!! (Although some days I wonder!!) So this afternoon I have been busy
this is how I would like to spend my day...........

but I have cut fabric ready to put together tomorrow night....

...I have wrangled with letters on this quilt top.....

..satin stitch is not my favourite now!!!.......did a bit of a dummy spit as I seem to be stretching the white fabric...actually I don't like this white fabric as it is still creased from washing and I have ironed it and ironed it..........ah well......

....here is the finished quilt top....now to sandwich and get organised to quilt....maybe not today..definitely  not today!!....

...a wee glimmer of hope in a parched garden...the flowering gum is getting it's flowers...it amazes me, everything else is suffering from the heat and it is looking amazing!! The flowering gum is that faint hint of red in the distance!! Lol!!

I have also made two quilt tops to go to Cheryll for her Blankets of Love project...now to find backing...and then the quilting. I suppose I should organise some dinner soon, DH will be getting hungry!!
Happy sewing!!

August challenge

Our Wednesday group challenge for this month was to make a quilt no bigger than 24 inches as they are going to be donated to Cheryll's Blankets of Love.
We all  had a go and it always amazes me that we all come up with something different!
Marg made a beautiful quilt from a fat quarter - beautiful colours!

Tracee made a beautiful geometric number!

Tania made a beautiful quit with fabric from her stash

I had a play with charm squares following a tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt company calling Falling/Tumbling Squares

they ended up larger than I thought they would so I made two quilts.
