Today

I have been sewing for the afternoon with a friend who lives in Clifton Springs, and some of her family...they wanted to make a Star Fruit Cushion...so that is what we did. I didn't take any photos there but each nearly completed their cushion. I finished one yesterday, one today and the baby needs it's final seam hand sewn closed.
Baby looks so small!!!
Happy sewing.

Bits and bobs

Today I have done little bits of this and that and not a whole lot of anything!! #2 son happily presented me with a pair of jeans that needed hemming
a pair of jeans on my sewing machine and they are not mine!!!! Actual to be honest I don't mind and they don't take long to do....

this was a little table runner I started yesterday and finished today..very simple...

and a little quilt done, just needs a little hand sewing...

the first of three Blankets of Love under construction...

they need trimming, sandwiching...

and quilting....

I traced this beautiful bear to stitch..,,, this is from Michelle Ridgway...

and this afternoon I made another star fruit cushion...looks a bit sad without it's stuffing doesn't it!!
I had better go and get dinner sorted or we will be eating after 8pm again!!
Happy sewing.

Happy mail

Yes today was happy mail day...earlier this year I joined a swap for a Christmas decoration organised by the lovely Maria, sadly my partner went AWOL and couldn't be found so the wonderful Shez stepped in and today I received my swap from her....
her beautiful elf decoration beautifully stitched...

and beautiful fabric on the back!
You are a treasure Shez....never letting anyone feel let down!! Thank you this is very special to me.
I have been sewing today and another little cushion has joined the family...
the last of the blue fabric...tonight by the way is FNSI, so if you feel like  a virtual sew a long with like minded people you can join up over at Wendy's...hope to see you there
off now to organise the white chocolate to munch on and to give the hexies some attention!!
Happy sewing.

Yesterday

I went along to catch up with the lovely ladies at the Port Arlington quilting group, not many there but some amazing show and tell
Linda's beautiful quilt with pansy flowers

this one was made with scraps...lots of 2 inch squares here...

another scrap 2 inch squares quilt

close up of the previous quilt..

a sea themed quilt Chris is making...

and the back..

a nine patch that has been cut and rearranged

and this one belongs to Judy, the ladies were explaining to us newbies how to make the blocks for these quilts...  in the afternoon I went into Geelong and did a little Christmas shopping, then went to see
what a great film, I laughed and cried....as did others in the audience!!!
Back home I made another of these
my collection is growing and I think I have the pattern under control now, although it never pays to be over confident!!
Happy sewing!

Beautiful day today...

I really like these kinds of days, the sun is shining, just a gentle breeze...the washing is done...well not folded yet but dry......have been for a bike ride....

...and I have managed to do some sewing.......Annie had a sewing cushion last Saturday, one I have liked for a long time.....the Port sewing group were going to have workshop, but haven't heard when yet.....so this afternoon I decided to just go ahead and make one...it is known as a Star Fruit cushion. ....I have used 6 inch squares....

these are the fabrics for the top..only had to unpick once when I realised I had made a mistake on one of the seams....

I have decided to try and put pockets on the side...just a little added challenge!!!

side pieces being added to the bottom....

Ta dah!!!! Finished.....the only problem is that I think I have made it upside down because
I think this is the side you work on.......

If so then the pockets are  the wrong way around!!!! Ah well, I tried and maybe I will just use it upside down!!!!
Happy sewing.
