Halloween

Hey have a look at the gorgeous bunch of Halloween revellers!

We all look a bit serious here....probably worrying about Tracee's brain falling out...or her eye sliding off her head!! You can't see the top of Tracee's head....it was bandage and brains!!

we had spooky food....I tried to make spooky eyes but they came out like boobs instead! Lol! At least people still ate them!

and Carol pondered on the placement of her blocks...she had started work on this project ages ago and now has come back to it . The room we meet in has been renovated and now is the Maternal Health offices in the day, so now we have a comfy couch to sit on if we want to!

Sunday sewing

Well I have finally made it back to the sewing machine...I had a really good book and that HAD to be finished so I knew what happened!! So this afternoon I have been free range quilting on.....

...no not the dog, but he has been supervising then he left me for the comfort of the chair!!

this is a secret project for a swap so can only show a little bit for now

and this is another Halloween wall hanging to go to Jenny in New Zealand....between Tania and I , we will decorate the whole house!!  I have finished the FRQ, not have to sew in all the endy bits, and then we are on to binding....yay the end is in sight!!  Happy sewing!

Hi Hip Hooray!!!

Today quilt being fixed, has gone to the quilters!!!! Yay!!!!

My assistant helped with the backing.....NOT.....but now it is all done and delivered! Now we wait to see what it comes out like. Kerry is going to do a meander all over!!

Meanwhile back at the ranch, after I had been outside trying to dig out more cape weed....a never ending job and one I will not win I know, but I have to try!!!, I continued sewing. But.....

how come the bunnies, and there are heaps of them, don't eat the cape weed???? That would be helpful, but then I guess they poop out the seeds and maybe that would encourage more to grow?? So maybe not so helpful!!

Anyway, I have made a Halloween sandwich,and two others I can't show yet...they are for a swap and secret! the Halloween wall hanging is going to Jenny in New Zealand...she will be Halloweened out by the time Tania and I have finished! lol!

I had a great night last night at Marg's beautiful house, Tania and I made ourselves at home, we had yummy food to eat, dogs to entertain us, wonderful music and our sewing!! What more  could you want than to spend an evening with good friends? Sadly Tracee-Lee couldn't be with us as she had a prior commitment, maybe next month!!

Yep...I actually did some stitching on hexagons....

and got distracted by Jasmine.....

and had a cuppa....you can see Marg's beautiful little tumbler block quilts, she has made three for Blankets of Love to be sent off to Cheryll soon

Catching up!

Well our lovely time at St Leonard's is over and it is back to nearly normal!! I think we managed to do mostly taking and tea drinking but we did manage to get some sewing done but I couldn't blog thanks to Telstra and their confusing instructions so.....here is what we got up to..

this...38 strips done and 33 left to go!! Phew!!

this is the quilt I have been repairing ....I am working on the last few hexies to fill the gaps...I am still having a problem with random..but I will  get there!!

Most mornings were like this....gray, howling wind and not much fun to be outside, but it was perfect weather.....

for finishing that book that hadn't been finished!!

Tuesday afternoon we went for a walk in between rain showers and it was really nice to be outside, we were watching the huge cloud travelling over in front of us, how it was changing as it moved across the city and I guess dropped it's load!

the sea was reasonably calm but we did get caught by a rain shower just before we got back inside.

after much crawling around on the floor Tania had her next project, a Halloween wall hanging sandwiched! Now for the hand quilting! No pressure though!! lol!

And these are my finishes for the time we were at the beach, baby hexies all done, Halloween table runner with the binding completed, two Christmas wall hangings with the binding completed, and a yellow/orange table runner completed. Sadly the raggy seams quilt has been sidelined for the moment, DH didn't like it, so I have to rethink, I now think I will put it together in a different way.

Our Wednesday night challenge for last month, unveiling last night, was to use the Accu GO cutter and make something, so I cut out the hexagons, hand sewed them together, then sandwiched, stitched, turned out....

and free range quilted around some of the flowers. I was very happy with the end result..it is amazing how you can go from thinking you don't have the time to get something finished to finishing it and having time to spare!

I had to do the happy dance to celebrate finishing the repair job on the quilt!! LOL!!

A finish!!!

I finished this table cloth for Jenny for Halloween - she goes all out over in NZ, dresses up, has lollie bags for the visiting kids and decorates the house, so thought this might come in handy.

this is an international piece - the top fabric is from the US, the backing from the LQS (Gisborne) the skeletons are from the UK!  Yay for internet shopping!!!

Lazy Day

Why is it that some days I am fired up and can sew all day and get lots done and then I have other days when I just can not be bothered to do anything?? Today has been one of those days, not a lot done and now it is time to be getting dinner ready....oh well....yesterday was a better day, got at least a little done!!

i laid out the squares for a KOGO blanket and my assistant decided it was a wonderful place to have a snooze!! Wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't muddled the rows up! Lol! I guess that tells me I need to clear the table and not work from the floor!

Wednesday group challenge nearly done, just need to finish off the threads and sew the opening closed. Can show a whole photo after we have unveiling. 

Halloween tablecloth nearly finished for Jenny, have to finish off threads and sew opening closed - there is a recurring theme here - not wanting to do the final things to get it finished!!! I would like some glow in the dark skeletons to hang on the corners - does anyone have any ideas where I could get them from please? Tried the local $2 shop but no joy there.

Another "bright" KOGO rug finished and ready to be delivered.

Next KOGO rug to be sewn along the long seams, then needs a crochet edge, there is another one lurking in a bag....to be done later on. This one isn't too bad most of the squares are of a similar size, the red ones just needed a bit of tweeking to fit.

I found an amazing hexagon quilt on facebook today

so far over 13,000 hexagons! But what an amazing quilt, it is like a Persian carpet!

and today is World Orangutan Day - the orangs at the Melbourne Zoo  had special fruit and plants today - was party day for them.
