Still at home

We have had the lockdown extended for another 7 days....hopefully that is enough to stop this variant of the virus from spreading.

I have been doing some sewing and a lot of reading, I finished three Harry Bosch novels this week, once I get my nose into them, that is me gone for the day.

But some sewing has happened

Schoolgirl Sampler has had her problems fixed and two borders added, two more to go

The Drunkards Path quilt I made at Baradine has had two borders added and now is in the to be quilted pile

The Guild Mystery quilt has had it's last border added and is also in the to be quilted pile.
A little more progress on Tea and Cake

This weeks Anthology blocks are done
Out in the garden the other day I noticed the jasmine flowering, a bit early I thought, but I have some in the sewing room and it smells wonderful every time I walk in.

Margaret Mew had a destash sale on Instagram and I was able to buy a quilt top, on the right, with beautiful Japanese fabrics and linen and on the left a large backing piece, so for very little outlay I have a quilt ready to be added to the quilting pile.
I am off now to sew together 4 x 23 half square triangles together for the next Schoolgirl Sampler border. Might put an audio book on at the same time.
Stay safe.
Happy stitching.

The last few days

I put the last border on the Japanese quilt

This went on to the loo to be used, but never fear, one box is empty, we have another one in the cupboard!

Yesterday about midday I went for a walk along the beach, I met 10 other people, we all gave each other a wide berth!!

We had warm weather a couple of weeks ago and of course people came to the beach and didn't observe social distance, so now the beaches are closed unless you observe the new rules. The public toilets are closed too.

I walked back thru the bush just below the bluff and road.

This morning I decided to do circuits of the back yard, Brian Heron looks very happy in his spot.

Hubby has been removing the old echium, he wants to plant a tree, a liquid amber, so some space had to be made.

I wore the appropriate footwear for the damp grass kind of day. I didn't count the number of rounds I did, but it was quite a few, I ended up walking a bit under 2 km, which is not bad for me at present.

two more hearts have been stitched

and I have started a long neglected Old Time Kaleidoscope block, I managed to sew them the wrong way to start and so did some unsewing!! Story of my life!

I also started this panel, which has been featured on Instagram by Sarah Edgar,  #sewalittlehappinesseveryday Michelle is working on this too. This photo doesn't show the grids very well. So far I have 4 buttons, a pin and part of a letter stitched!
Nothing like having lots of things to do!
I am off to sandwich a quilt.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Another first Friday of the month has come and gone, but I think we can gather again next Friday for another evening of virtual sewing together. I got busy in the afternoon
some borders went onto the secret sewing project

The LOUD Japanese fabric got a black border

another block was made for the Sylvia's Bridal  Sampler , yes an easy one! Then I had to stop and get some dinner, no pizza delivery tonight, hubby had prawns (nasty smelly things) in basil pesto sauce with pasta and I had a gluten free pizza with ham and pineapple. Then we had a video call with #1 son...kind of lost the sewing mojo, but then  hubby started watching the football, an old game being shown as the current season is postponed for now, so that sent me back into the sewing room.

So I sewed some baby hexies  for the next Anthology block

and some more hearts.
You can see what the other Friday Nighter's got up to over at Cheryll's blog.
The care home Mum is in are doing their utmost to keep families in touch while the home is in lock down, we have had a video call with Mum, very new technology for her and yesterday they sent a photo
Not a sentiment my mother has ever expressed to me but none the less wonderful to see. She is looking good for 94 years.
Right off to see what Saturday brings.
Happy stitching.

Squirrel day

I know I should be focusing on one thing and getting it finished but my brain keeps on thinking of other things, but this is what has been happening here
I had a wonderful care package from the lovely Julie, hubby has been told NOT to eat the chocs wrapped in gold, they are white chocolate and are MINE!! Thank you Julie for thinking of me and spoiling me!

I also received this postcard from an Aussie Hero letting me know he received and loves his quilt, he was a bit worried as he received the box of goodies two weeks before the quilt arrived, he was getting concerned the quilt was lost, but all was good. Nothing like a Happy Camel to make your day!!

All my little half square triangles are trimmed
a pile of trimmings makes me feel very virtuous!! Sad isn't it!! Might go and put these in one of the bird boxes outside.

This lovely book arrived n the mail, another challenge between Ingrid and myself. I am going to be very busy!!

Second lay out for the half square triangles, I forgot to take a photo of the first, for that one I was two HST's short and decided not to make any more. Enough already!

So with the left overs I laid out this

The with the last few had a play and managed to get some around the wrong way but at least they went together ok.

Little one sewn together, comes out at 5 and a half inches.

Big one sewn together, with a couple of woopsies but it is staying as it is.

Ingrid reminded me it was time for our Caroline Challenge, I got  the days muddled and then sewed the half square triangles together the wrong way...did I look at the picture first...No! So some unsewing happened

getting my act together

and finished..not exact but I am happy, it was nearly 10pm by this time and I was getting vert tired.

We had a weather change yesterday afternoon, thunder, lightning and heavy rain.

Happy mail earlier in the week from Ingrid.

Quilting and binding done, two mini quilts and a pincushion!

I had a wander down the garden yesterday and saw there were more ripe figs, so another kilo is made into fig and ginger jam.
Every time I go looking for charm squares this packet of Japanese fabrics falls on the floor, so it got sewn into strips and then I added the strips of fortune cookie fabric, I think now I need a strip of black all around to contain all the colour as it is a VERY LOUD and busy quilt centre and the next fabric I have to put on is also very busy. Using what is in the stash with this.
I think it might be time for lunch now and then back for more being a squirrel.
Keep safe
Happy stitching.
