FNWF

Another first Friday of the month has come and gone, but I think we can gather again next Friday for another evening of virtual sewing together. I got busy in the afternoon
some borders went onto the secret sewing project

The LOUD Japanese fabric got a black border

another block was made for the Sylvia's Bridal  Sampler , yes an easy one! Then I had to stop and get some dinner, no pizza delivery tonight, hubby had prawns (nasty smelly things) in basil pesto sauce with pasta and I had a gluten free pizza with ham and pineapple. Then we had a video call with #1 son...kind of lost the sewing mojo, but then  hubby started watching the football, an old game being shown as the current season is postponed for now, so that sent me back into the sewing room.

So I sewed some baby hexies  for the next Anthology block

and some more hearts.
You can see what the other Friday Nighter's got up to over at Cheryll's blog.
The care home Mum is in are doing their utmost to keep families in touch while the home is in lock down, we have had a video call with Mum, very new technology for her and yesterday they sent a photo
Not a sentiment my mother has ever expressed to me but none the less wonderful to see. She is looking good for 94 years.
Right off to see what Saturday brings.
Happy stitching.

Catching up

Today we have been into the city to take hubby to the neuro Dr , all went well, hubby has to slow down a little and not want to do everything NOW!! He has to give his brain time to recover....another 4 weeks to go then the magical 6 weeks after operation is up. Will be interesting to see how hubby is then. So, not a lot of sewing is happening here as I am tired but have managed to finish some secret sewing, but as it is a secret I can only show you a little,
very happy with how this turned out. I have been doing some other secret sewing but can't show that yet...may be later!! Lol!
The last Aussie hero quilt I made was sent off to a man who was on exchange in the US, sadly last week the quilt was returned to me. After talking to Jan-Maree the Aussie Hero organiser she found out he is back in Australia in hospital, suffering from PTSD. Happily he wants his quilt so I rode down to the PO this afternoon and sent it on it's way. Hopefully he will be able to recover during his time in hospital.
It was very calm and peaceful down by the beach today
the pelicans rushed over as they thought I was going to feed them

sorry guys no food here for you!!

Ok then, we shall look elsewhere!! LOl!!

I sat and had a chai and had a read for a while

and watched the changes in the light on the water...there is something in the camera lens that looks like the letter G when I zoom in on something, do not know how to get that out!

drink finished, time to go home! Might even do some sewing!
Happy sewing.

Out and about and EPP

Today I have been to Sunbury and back.....and luckily I missed most of the storm that dropped all over Geelong!! Only a few spits of rain as I neared Corio.
storm clouds up ahead

here they are heading off towards Werribee and Point Cook
I heard 17 people were rescued from their cars during the flooding, not what you expect to hear in the city of Geelong!!
Today I posted of an Aussie hero quilt
the request was for waves and beach....I hope the recipient likes it! I also sent 6 knitted square blankets off to KOGO, they had been finished for a while, so I finally got them in the post. They will be off to new homes very soon.
When in Sunbury I snuck a photo of Karen's dog Zac....sound asleep in his bed...he is 4 months old, but...

the minute Karen turned on the hair dryer Zac was there on my knee, waiting for his turn!! He is a funny little boy, loves having his hair dried!! Lol!!

This week is link up time with Anthea over at Hibiscus Stitches...celebrating all things EPP over there...I am attaching 7 black hexie flowers to my hexie quilt, last night I sewed them on one side, tonight I need to sew on the other side.

and I have also been busy with some secret sewing...getting a little closer to a finish!! Yay!! Well it is G & T time for me I think, no storm damage here thank goodness!!!
Happy sewing.

FNWF results

I am very happy with what I  managed to sew last night....I did stay up late, but then I was home alone so it didn't matter....great to just potter along and have half an eye on the tv as well...I have to say that by midnight I was past my use by date!!!
the two hexagon blocks are done....I decided to leave the fabrics as they were....I like bright!!! I did have problems getting the centre to sit flat, but will give it a press today and see how it goes.

The binding is made and machine sewn onto the disappearing four patch, just needs the hand sewing now.....the supervisor needs to rest he has had a busy evening!! Lol!!

I had two pin incushions that needed stuffing, so that is done, the hand sewing and button attaching completed these will go to the stall at the Seachange Quilters quilt show in March.

and the applique pieces are all ironed onto the secret project. ..now for some free range sewing to attach them all.
I had a very productive night last night, bit tired this morning but not to worry....you can go over to Cheryll's place to see the other amazing creations that are happening.

Happy sewing.

Happy, happy mail!

Earlier in the week I received this in the mail....
a special book from Michelle Ridgway...her first book...has lovely patterns in it...you can see more here over at Michelle's blog.
Then I had a parcel arrive from book depository
lots of lovely feltie goodness in this book,
today I have been over to Port Arlington for a Bellarine Quilters sewing day......
I managed to sew several of these.....
but can't say too much as it is secret sewing....shhhhhh!!!
Also this weekend  I need to get going on another Aussie Hero quilt...this one is 1950's retro feel with classic cars and trucks...
hopefully this will fit the request....
and I nearly forgot ( sorry Shez!) When Shez came last weekend she gave me the lovely RAK parcel she had put together for me....
How good is that???? The girls encouraged me to cut into these batiks over the weekend, but I said no they had to be patted and enjoyed for a few weeks first!! Lol!!
Thank you Shez, it is a fantastic bunch of goodies and you are a very generous friend!!
Now I have to go and fold up yesterdays washing...we look like a Chinese laundry as my Dad would say, things hanging everywhere, but what else do you do when it rains every day?
Ooooo...don't forget too that it is FNWF tomorrow...you can sign up over with Cheryll and join in with everyone stitching their Friday evening away.
Happy sewing.

Secret sewing

Some secret projects are under way in the sewing room but I can't say much because they are secret!!!  :-)  One to be finished by June the other July...best get on with it me thinks!!
At least it is better sewing weather today, not so hot,
French braid quilt made last year (I think) now needs it's butterflies attached and finished off, I think I made a mistake here, I used wadding and then put a fleece fabric on the back to make it cuddly, but it is now very heavy and it is supposed to go to New Zealand! Mmmmmm.....

butterflies ready to be ironed on

secret stuff to have a play with!
Bye for now!
