Purchases from Scrub Stitching and FNWF

 Here it is the start of May already, which means tonight is Friday Night with Friends hosted by Cheryll. You can sign up over at her blog and join in tonight.

This week I put together the remaining Australian animals blocks and made a quilt top for Finn, I need to get something soft for the backing.

Next week I am going on retreat to Gisborne, so I have sandwiched the quilt below I was given to finish off for Oncology

I also got out the knitted blocks Jenny had started to sew together when she was here and got the blanket all sewn together, now I need to crochet a border around the edge and it will be ready for KOGO, they are in need of blankets this time of the year, so I need to get the other two bags of squares I have here sewn together too.

I bought some fabric when I was away

I couldn't leave these panels in the shop, Raewyn and I stopped at the Crafters Cottage in Coonabarabran on out way to Baradine. These panels were too nice to leave behind!

Driving through Corowa Raewyn spotted a quilt shop, so we parked and went to have a look

I had to take this and the panel below home, they are perfect for Aussie Hero quilts

and this panel will make a wonderful advent calendar for Finn

and this fabric is for a project I have in the back of my mind 😉

and I found this lovely key ring in with my bag of goodies. There was so much to look at in this shop, it made a wonderful break from driving.

I received this great bag of strips from Marina, so soon they will be stamped and cut up for the cropped diamonds quilt top

I have this pile to cut waiting attention, so I had better be off and get them done.

Freedom

 seems to be being enjoyed this weekend down here at the beach, the traffic has increased a lot and the number of people out walking has increased, holiday homes are opened up and have people staying. I guess regional Victorians are on the move again!

We have been at home enjoying the spring garden, going for walks and being at home.

We had a visit from our eldest son and his partner and Hank yesterday, it was wonderful to see them again, they were happy to have a break from their home too.

I received some happy mail in the week from the Threadbare quilt shop in Castlemaine

Wednesday two Anthology blocks were made, this one is Lollipops, I have to go and find a photo of the other one.

There it is one happy star.

Thursday saw the making of another Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Blocks, this one was  foundation paper pieced, it took quite a while to cut all the pieces and then get them in the right place.

Mmmmmmm the poor machine got a clean out. It must have been feeling very uncomfortable!

I have been chipping away at another Old Time Kaleidoscope block after neglecting them for a while.

I have had a pile of off cuts of quilt backing fabric sitting in a pile for a long time so in the week I have been cutting them into 5 inch squares and two and a half by five inch squares. I thought Adam and Beth were staying the night Saturday so that made me cut them all up and clear away the table. They are now all waiting to be sewn into a quilt top.

Saturday I was invited to join in a zoom stitch and chat with these lovely ladies, I have to improve my photo taking skills when it comes to getting a photo of the lap top screen. I haven't seen these ladies for quite a while so it was lovely to have a catch up.

Over the weekend I crocheted two kitchen wash cloths from cotton sent to me by Ingrid. I like the graduating colours.

I am currently quilting this beauty made by Marina who lives In Gisborne, she made two stunning kaleidoscope quilts to go to the oncology ward at SJOG.

I really like the patterns that form in the centre of the blocks

I had other happy mail in the week, a box of beautiful reproduction scraps from Marina, we were email talking about making the flying geese and Marina kindly offered to send some of her scraps. Thank you Marina.

Ladies who Lunch

Today the City Girls ventured out from the city and came for a visit, also Tracee and Marg came down from Gisborne. The  latter came via a 70% off sale at a craft store, where I heard they had a very enjoyable time!
We had lunch out on the back deck,, but then moved inside as the afternoon warmed up, then the air con went on as the day got even warmer! We had a great time, good lunch and lots of chatting and laughter. A little sewing was even done!!

I tried to set the camera up on a pot plant to take a photo but I think this is a fail!!

Marina showed us her beautiful quilt top....her farewell quilt from her previous job, Marina has changed a few blocks to make the quilt hers, you can see a bit about the quilt here.

and a few more circles have been completed...I have run out of prepared circles so it is back to tracing and cutting for me.

Yesterday and today

Yesterday I was going to ride my bike down to the PO but the tyre appears to have a puncture, so I walked instead, it was a beautiful day, cool but calm and sunny,

As blogger and the lap top were not cooperating yesterday it is now Sunday, but above was from my Friday walk, 

the pelicans were having their morning wash.

The Aussie hero quilt is finished, the theme for this one was medical and Kiwi. 

Yesterday I went up to Gisborne for a bloggers meet up, autumn has come to Gisborne, always love this street with the big oak trees,

our swap theme for this meet up was a mini quilt with a sewing theme

I had great fabric in it!! I have yet to take a photo of the swap I received from Lyn and I forgot to take a photo of what I made...will find one on another blog somewhere. We had a wonderful day, it was as always, good to catch up with everyone.

I had a quick stop in Geelong on the way home to stretch the legs, the sun was beautiful on the water this afternoon.
