It is time to link up over at alshaspace for the word photo challenge once again. The word for this week is GRATITUDE. There are many things in my life I am grateful for but this week it is to be the GRATITUDE that flowed from my son when i gave him his finished bed runner...he is a very happy camper.

two very happy people full of GRATITUDE!!
If you go over to visit at alshasspace you can see the other GRATITUDE photos, or maybe you could join in with one of your own!!
Happy days.

This and that

Today the Union Jack quilt has had its binding machine sewn on...tomorrow is hand sewing day!!
that is a messy looking photo isn't it! ! Should have made the quilt straighter!!!
Today I have also sandwiched the Kaffe Fasset quilt from the challenge last year, I am entering it is the Seachange Quilters show, so need to get it finished...nothing like a deadline to get me motivated!!
and after much fiddling about it is done!!
Now I am off to the couch to do a bit of knitting
and watch some episodes of Longmire

I am full of a cold today so resting is best!!
Happy sewing.

Working away

...here today, have pieced the backing for the Union Jack quilt, I have used most of the gray and blue and am keeping the red for the binding...all the left over bits I had cut for the squares are in the back, it feels good to have used them. Now the kitchen bench has been called back into use!!
pinning is under way

and I have finished off two stitcheries, one has been waiting for a very long time in the drawer, the other not so long. So good to have them done.
Sad to hear there was another earthquake in Christchurch today, no damage that I have heard of, just a good shake, was 31km under ground. Hopefully all is ok.
Happy sewing.

Happy day/busy day

Today I have been working on the Union Jack Quilt and have the top finished
Tomorrow I will make a backing and try to get it quilted
I also made two of these and have another one ready to go
Yep, couldn't help myself, I have made another two pincushions and have some more fabric ready to go for another one, I do enjoy making these!!
I forgot to show you my wonderful purchases from quilt shops in Christchurch
these fat quarters were 5 for $20....thought that was a good deal!!

and most of these fabrics were 25% off!! Yay!!!
Lots to boost my stash!!
Happy sewing.

Back home

Here we are back at St Leonards ....all is good, well except for hubby who has been back to the Dr this morning and now has super strength antibiotics! Tupai and I enjoyed a walk along the beach this morning

the morning wallow!!

so nice here this morning

Lovely peaceful way to spend a few hours!

Shane, #2 son requested a quilt to go across the end of his bed with a Union Jack in the middle....mmmmmm...when I went to Spotlight just after Christmas they had the Union Jack panels on special, so I asked and got permission to go ahead, found some kind of matching fabric...it is so hard to match the reds!!!!  Then finally today I have started cutting the fabric...will be simple, just squares added to the sides to get the right width, and a gray border around the flag to begin. That is the plan at the moment!!!

these are the stitcheries I took to NZ, some progress was made, I have another traced that had nothing done on it, but I will get to that at some stage!
I had better be off and get some sewing done before it is time to get dinner!
Happy sewing.
