Time away

I have spent the last three days visiting Eve who lives in Melbourne, she is out to the east in Boronia. I drove over on Sunday, the windiest day I could have chosen, the car was being blown all over the road. I arrived ok, and we had a great afternoon of chatting and catching up. The next morning I took her dog Basil the Jug ( Pug x Jack Russell) for a walk and we got caught in a really heavy rain shower.Yesterday we explored a new antique/craft shop and then took Eve out for lunch as it was her 81st birthday. In the evenings we watched dvd's and I did a little stitching
these rows of clamshells are all sewn down, ready to be joined to others

sleepy wombat is finished..this is a Michelle Ridgway's pattern

kookaburra is bring the decorations

and Mum possum is just started.

As I was taking the photos I  noticed this yacht working it's way down the bay....it was lurching up and down in the waves, not my idea of fun!! Would be a fast trip towards Melbourne but a very slow one coming back!!
I am off now to glue some clamshells ready to sew tomorrow, I am helping out with the Guild display table at the Geelong Agricultural Show. Hopefully I get to have a look around too.
Happy sewing.

Life on hold

Life has been a bit different the last week or so, hubby has been in hospital for a deep brain stimulation operation, where electrodes are implanted in the brain and connected to a battery in the chest. The charge from the battery controls the Parkinsons symptoms. David got thru the op well, although it took them three attempts to get the electrodes in. The day after to  op he was wonderful, the next few days not so good, he had swelling on the left side of his brain plus epileptic seizures. So we have had a few worrying days but now he has turned the corner and is getting better. I am not allowed to take a photo of him as he is not happy having a shaved head with bumps!!
While sitting at his bed side I have been working on these
beautiful Teddies in a Teacup, pattern by Michelle Ridgway, I am doing them in three colours, favourites of Jenny's.

and in the evenings doing the hand sewing on this quilt, this is from the Geelong Guild and is a quilt that will go to the Children's hospital. I have been staying with friends 10 mins drive from the hospital so have been super lucky, they are looking after me well!!
Have been home overnight to collect a few things and the mail and just to see the sea again!! Heading back to the hospital in an hour or so.
Happy sewing.

Busy day

Now I am relaxing sitting on Shez's couch, doing  a bit of stitching and lots of chatting!! I didn't get to the PO today so  that is for tomorrow! I spent the afternoon at the Wool Museum, the afternoon was a bit slow, there were two groups came through, and we got to talk to some interesting people
this was the table I was sitting by for the afternoon,
since arriving at Shez's place I have been stitching some hexies, I got 3 done this afternoon
Shez has helped me with some stitcheries, I wasn't sure how to put them together so now I have had instructions and they are ready for sewing.
sorry the tablet insists on this photo going sideways.

look who is busy working away!!!
Off to do some more hexies.

Working away

...here today, have pieced the backing for the Union Jack quilt, I have used most of the gray and blue and am keeping the red for the binding...all the left over bits I had cut for the squares are in the back, it feels good to have used them. Now the kitchen bench has been called back into use!!
pinning is under way

and I have finished off two stitcheries, one has been waiting for a very long time in the drawer, the other not so long. So good to have them done.
Sad to hear there was another earthquake in Christchurch today, no damage that I have heard of, just a good shake, was 31km under ground. Hopefully all is ok.
Happy sewing.

Walking the dog

Today was my turn to look after Tupai, he hasn't coped too well with all the changes in the recent months...so we went over to Port Arlington and walked along the beach
Lovely coastline along here..

Tupai found a perfect sized paddling pool!!
We did a bit of geocaching and looked for the Flora and Fauna park.....one entrance had a big sign that said no dogs so we went and got a cuppa....as I was putting the take away cup into the car the  lid came off and spilled on the floor!!!! Geez!!!!!  After I had cleaned up I went back to get another...luckily the shop owner gave me one free, and shook his head!! Lol!
We sat by the water for a while, then headed home, Tupai happy in the back yard and me off to  Port again for sewing.
I finished this stitchery last night...

And worked on this one today. I am enjoying these.
Just for a laugh,
when we were out walking earlier in the week and I decided to try and take a photo of Tupai and I together....he would not cooperate...he is frightened of the tablet!!!!!  Oh dear!!!
Poor boy, being dragged into the photo!!
Happy sewing.
