Another week rushes by

We have been back home over a week and I am not sure where the time has gone, a little sewing has happened, I have been grand dog sitting, reading, going to sewing group, same old same old!!

Last weeks Anthology block was done.
The latest wasgij has been completed, this one took a while.
Several hexies are in production for Tea and Cake
Today a fat quarter quilt is being sandwiched ready for quilting.
Back when we had our weekend away we went to Violet Town looking for info on David John Palmer
One of the lovely old buildings in Violet Town. After wandering around we discovered Violet Town closed on a Sunday afternoon, only place open was the petrol station.
The garden at this house was beautiful, spring had sprung here.

David John Palmers tree was the last one David John Palmer looked at of course!

David now wants to try and find out more about his family.
The entrance sign to Violet Town is painted by Leunig, this is where he comes from we were told.

And some puppy spam!!

Tira loves the garden and jumps on everything!!
Last Saturday I went with Belinda to Feed Me Bellarine to give Lana the vege quilt
I made a bag for it to go it with the left over fabric
I am happy to say Lana loved it.

This was my lunch at Feed me, broccoli steak, with watermelon, beetroot and asparagus, doesn't it look amazing!

The weather has been really changeable here lately, we have days like this

and then days like this where you are dodging the rai storms.
Time for some lunch and that quilt needs to be finished.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

and the start of the weekend. Friday night I did some cutting of fabric for blocks

I managed to get them all cut out, nine fat quarters which grew to eleven as I made a mistake on two and had to start again! Possibly not the best time to be cutting! I was a bit tired as a friend and I had driven to Gisborne and back to pick up a quilt Tracee had quilted for me.

Later that evening I sat with my feet up and glued these hexies ready for sewing.
A little view of the Star quilt after Tracee quilted it, Tracee is now operating as Humming Bird Quilting in Gisborne.
Yesterday I sewed the blocks together and then the blocks into rows, today it needs a border added to bring it up to the required size.

I have made a little progress with the Wasgij, found the top border and a few faces are coming together, currently searching for the bottom border pieces.
I have been trying to walk every day and am seeing some lovely plants in gardens around the area.

We have had some lovely spring days and some overcast rainy days

It is still good to walk along the beach

This wisteria is going to be stunning when it is fully in flower.
I had better go and get ready for todays walk, the sun is trying to come out at the moment, although I think the forecast is for showers.
Happy stitching.

Squirrel brain

has struck again today, it is a beautiful calm sunny day, it is so tempting to just go and sit outside in the sun and read a book! But I am being strong and am pinning one of the hexie quilt tops I was given to some borders, that have come from left over backing.
Pinning the border to the hexies

I did several laps of the garden this morning, David had left both the side gates open so I did complete laps of the property, made for a little change. Exciting person aren't I!!

I was chatting to Fiona via email and she suggested using some figs to make fig paste, to have with cheese. I liked the sound of that so did some research and found a recipe that uses the crock pot, so first step is to wash and dry the figs, then put the sugar over them and put them in the fridge over night. Tomorrow they will go into the crock pot. I hope I have timed this right as Ingrid is sending me jars and fingers crossed, they will arrive tomorrow.

The last lot of jam I made didn't set so back it went into the post this morning for a bit more sugar and another brew up

and back into the jars, hopefully this time it will be ok.

Yesterday I finished this jigsaw...and yes one piece was missing, but it didn't impact that much.
Yesterday I also put the binding on this lovely quilt made by a Guild member and quilted by Joan, this is now ready for delivery to the oncology ward once we are allowed out and about again.
I am off now to finish pinning the hexie quilt, I might even go and sit outside with some hand stitching, best to enjoy the lovely weather while we can.
Happy stitching.
