FNSI

WooHoo!! Tonight is Friday Night Sew In where you get on your jamies, get a drink and nibbles and sit and sew in the company of like minded sewers!! You can sign up or see what others have sewn over the weekend over here at Wendy's..she is our lovely host.
Tomorrow I am off to a Quilt in Day organised by the Geelong Quilt and Patchwork Guild......today I went to help set up the hall, I was a bit late as I got lost on the way.....still finding my way around this area......they are expecting 300 people...should be an interesting day!!!  On the way home I called in at Geelong shopping centre and had a play with this...
first I had a play with penguins.....

then a seal!! Lol!! It was a screen in the shopping centre, white lumps about like ice bergs and you stood near the screen and the camera picked you up...I wasn't prepared to wave my hands in the air as requested though!! Lol!!

Some secret sewing happening here this evening...oh....I had some other photos to show you.....
..the hail that stayed on the ground Wednesday morning...we had it on and off all night....

this was on my car at about 7.30 am! I am off now, the pizza has arrived and I need to get some sewing done!
Happy sewing.

Birthday gathering

I  have spent the last 24ish hours in Gisborne catching up with these lovely ladies
It was the usual Wednesday night gathering, minus a few bodies, busy or unwell or away travelling also last Sunday was Tania 's special birthday...the big 50!! So we lashed out and had fish and chips for dinner and then instead of going out to the usual meeting room we stayed at Margs and had out catch up and did a few stitches there....
Later in the evening we had birthday cake kindly supplied by Tracee

the birthday girl Tania

Tracee was working on her stitchery...

Pauline was tatting...amazing work.....

Tania had made her final Underground Railroad Sampler block for us to sign....sorry this is upside down... Marg was going to do some stitching but ended up comforting a nervous dog....I did a little stitching in between chatting...lol.....a very enjoyable time was had.....but today I had to head back to St Leonards....

Love this part of the road...Avenue of Honour in Bacchus Marsh..so pleasant to drive through. ...but back to reality now...some secret sewing happening.....photos later!!
Happy sewing.

Today..

has been a wet and cold one hasn't it??  The supervisor and I went for a walk after lunch when there appeared to be a large area of blue sky, but the gray clouds came rushing over as we were heading home and we got wet!!! But not to worry, we enjoyed the fresh (cold) air.
some unusual fungi we walked by...well the Supervisor did when he was off the lead...

was happy to follow him and see these wonderful things....

..had a little woops when I was sewing this afternoon.....had to do unsewing....couldn't really leave it that way!! Lol!!

DH decided to wash the bathroom window this afternoon (late) and managed to open the window so far it cannot be closed! Pretty good for the coldest night since we have been here!!!He has now put the door back on so that keeps some of the cold breeze out!!

Have finished four rows of chevrons.....have repurposed the island bench in the kitchen....makes a wonderful quilting bench...lol!!!

..have photos printed on fabric.....just have to wash them to get out the excess ink,....then figure out how to incorporate them into the quilt.....

..the Supervisor is relaxing as we speak...read that as snoring!!! Had a stressful day supervising!! Lol!! I am off to Gisborne tomorrow to catch up with the Gisborne girls...looking forward to that!
Happy sewing.

Sewing.....

...in the plaster dust....yes the plasterer was here on Saturday and he did a huge amount of work...he also made a huge mess...I spent quite a while picking bits of plaster off the new cupboards and floor after he had gone....he will be back on Wednesday to sand down the plaster.....I am leaving home and going to Gisborne that day!!!! Actually it was already planned but I will be happy not to be here!! It was lovely yesterday to lay in bed with a cuppa and book, house was quiet, didn't have to get up for any tradie coming at 7.30!!!! Later I got to some sewing....
I have started on another Aussie Hero quilt...black, white, rugby and All Blacks for this one...

some blocks ready to be joined up...

I have  also finished my Gail Pan table runner...quite happy with this one!!

Just happened to see the sun coming up this morning...great colours in the clouds...makes me feel good to see lovely sunrises!
Happy sewing.

Slow Saturday

Hello!! Today has been a slowish day for me...although I did finish the binding and sew on the label of an Aussie Hero quilt while waiting for the plasterer to arrive this morning..
..this request was for green, purple, blue and horses...front...

and back...

and a quilted horse...that was a challenge!!

I have also finished the top of the butterfly quilt...need to get some backing fabric for this...the supervisor gave it a check....

and deemed it fine for sitting on!!!! Luckily we hadn't been for a walk and he didn't have wet feet...
here he was yesterday trying to avoid having his photo taken...but I out smarted him!! Lol!!
we walked a different way today and came across a very rare shell tree...with only one shell on it!! Lol!! Is a lot cooler and windier today so we are off home to get warm.
Happy sewing.
