Catch up

I have had some very enjoyable sit and sews this week at Bellarine Quilters, Seachange and St Leonards. I missed the show and tell at Bellarine, was slow getting the camera out, Angela had made some wonderful charity quilts.
Laurie made this beautiful table runner, love the colours she has used.

I came home with a bundle of fabrics to try and make some charity quilts...spidey man, spidey man...(woops started singing there!!)
I have started to work on another Aussie hero quilt, the request was for half square triangles made into chevrons in white and colour.

Today Jill was working on her lollipop trees, love how she does her circles in little foil packs! Looks like there are chocolate treats coming!!

The half square triangles are coming along ok, I had a few strange rows for a while but hubby set me right!!

And the Supervisor was snoring at the end of the table!!
Hubby was doing a pastel yesterday and  he has finished it today, I requested a painting of one of the Hobbit houses at Hobbiton.
He is still tweaking but I love it.
Off now to do some more half square triangles.
Happy sewing.

This little quilt is sandwiched and I have started quilting around the letters, love this panel.
My fish and chips  have arrived so I am off to feast.

Bits and pieces

Not a lot of sewing has been happening here as I have been out in the garden a lot this week, has been the perfect weather for it. But
Two little stars have joined the others

The advent calendar is finished....sideways photo sorry....just need to get a hanger

And a photo to make you stand on your head....the knitting us coming along slowly too.
The washing is  in and needs to be put away so I had better go and see to it, the laundry fairies seem to be away this weekend.....😁😁
Happy sewing.

Sewing day

Today I have been down to St Leonard's for sit and sew with the local ladies, I decided to walk today as the weather was good
I spied this heron wandering along the beach looking for lunch, on my way back home

It looked like the weather was changing but no rain has fallen.

It always amazes me that fungi push their way up through the ground and mulch.

One loan pelican was sitting near the boat ramp
This months challenge for the Row by Row is flying geese, so I asked Mr Google for some help and found a one seam flying geese, (or is that goose?) as taught by Rickie Timms. So I thought I would have a go and managed to get a row done. Then I got carried away as I had seen the same thing on the Missouri Star Quilt Co, but it had been made into a Christmas Advent calendar...Christmas geese, that seemed like a good idea
Hee hee!!

Ta dah!! All ready to quilt, I am going to have a go at hand quilting, once I do a bit of reading up on how to do it!

the geese make little pockets, where you can put Christmas goodies.
I have just been given a G & T so will say goodbye for now
Happy sewing.

Out and about

Yesterday was a home day for me I spent 2 hours in the garden, the Supervisor was helping by lying on the area I was trying to weed, then rolling on plants, sadly the plants we wanted to keep!! Most of the afternoon disappeared with book reading and knitting...I have been playing with wool from Lincraft
this wool is lovely and soft and it is lovely to sit and knit away in the evening.

These are two Sylvia's Wedding Quilt Sampler blocks I finished on the retreat last week
Today I was over at Barwon Heads for the Seachange sit and sew,  it was a good morning. After that i had a walk along the sea path and around the Bluff, after the rain this morning it was great to have a walk in the sun
Here we go along the beach path

looking back to the bridge

walking around the headland

this dog was having a great run along the beach

it kept telling it's human to hurry up!!

I got a little more done on the Christmas stitchery today.
I am off to get another cuppa, the one here  has gone cold.
Happy sewing.

A few busy days

The last few days have flown by, the Quilt In had come and gone and been successful. Set up was on Friday afternoon, on the way home I stopped in Geelong
I walked past this display in Geelong Myer..how good do these stars look

I had heard of this project but not seen any of the stars before, it should look amazing all together.
The beautiful Lions Quilt was on display at the Quilt In, I missed most of the talk sadly as I was in the kitchen, but I understand the Lions Quilters are fund raising to establish a quilt museum.

I had to zoom in and the photo is fuzzy I am sorry but the detail was so beautiful, there is braille on the tree stem , dates in the leaves and some of the flowers represent wheel chairs, others eyes, I am sure there was more but that's all I caught.
Our speaker was Michele Hill, she was talking about her journey with Beatrix Potter and the quilts she has made and the book she has published, Michele was also asked to make a replica of Beatrix Potter's parents wedding quilt....made in 1863.

the original is on the left, the new  one on the right. The new one is off to the UK and will be displayed in the home of Beatrix Potter.

part of the crowd at the Quilt In

Marg stitching away

Tracee as you might now is never easy to get a photo of...this is the moving one

now she is sitting stitching...still!!!

This quilt was shown at show and tell. It was brought in by a man who had a stall at the market next door. It was made by his wife who was a book illustrator, sadly she passed away four months ago. Such a beautiful quilt, love the fish!! (sorry about the photo quality.)

More show and tell

Loved this one.

and this one..which might just have been made by Marg!!

Thus was very pretty too.
I got home at 5.15 pm last night, had a quick shower and change and we drove into Melbourne for a friends 60th birthday celebration. We had a great night and caught up with friends we hadn't seen for a while.

I was given this present for my 60th...nothing better than a birthday that continues on and on!! Isn't it beautifully wrapped.
and inside was this gorgeous frog teapot!

Playing ladies with my new teapot!!

Isn't that cute!!
We got home last night near 1 o'clock so I was a bit tired!! But this morning had to be up bright and early as we had visitors from NZ calling in to say hello for morning tea.

We had a great visit and catch up, this afternoon has been a sit on the couch time..not much has been happening!!
I am slowly catching up with blog reading and book reading and am off to sit back on the couch!!
Happy stitching.

Home again

Am back from the retreat now and preparing for the Guild Quilt in tomorrow, it is set up this afternoon. But first some photos of projects from the retreat to share
Tracy is working on these beautiful batik blocks

Barb is making a four patch edging for her foundation pieced quilt

Judy had put together some beautiful cross stitch pieces to make a wall hanging to go above a bed. They were made by the mother of the owner of these pieces and they had been wrapped up in a towel for 25 years.

Judy then went on to make these lovely blocks from Japanses fabric her sister brought back from Japan for her.

A close up of the beautiful batiks.
The retreat has many beautiful quilts around the house

This one appealed to me, although the colour was darker in real life, great free motion circles holding the circles in place.
Loved this one hanging on the end of the bed

This one was rolled up in the lounge room

And this one was in a basket in the lounge..love this pattern.
This is a quilt top Linda is working on, it is a pattern by Irene Blanck,

Beautiful stitching

Linda's work is just beautiful.
The tablet battery is nearly flat so I had better finish up for now, the Supervisor is whinging for a walk...better get my skates on. Will catch up with blog reading later today.
Happy sewing.
