Posting time

The Aussie Hero quilt  and the laundry bag are finished and in the post, along with some lollies and TimTams, tea and coffee bags.

The laundry bag was folded and in its box and I forgot to take a photo!!

I have been sewing together some scarves that were destined for sale but failed the shops suitability tests. So they were offered to a Rotary group for giving to not for profit groups. One of the Bellarine ladies is in the Rotary group and so we are all helping her, two sewed together

Then sewed together, they make a wonderful blanket. These will be going to Geelong Mums or Bethany.

Busy noisy day

Today I awoke to the sound of chain saws and heavy trucks. One house to the right the house has been demolished and a new one is going up, just preparations for the foundations at present

And one house to the left major tree lopping has been happening all day, they a big trees and lots of galahs nest in them, so there will be homeless birds tonight.

I was out for most of the day so missed a lot of the noise, but heard a huge tree drop just after I got home. Today was sewing at Seachange, then I went into Geelong to do some messages and get the back tyre of my bike fixed. I was quite chuffed that I got the bike in and out of the car by myself!!! Yay me!!

Another KOGO blanket was finished last night and is ready for delivery

I just did a little hand sewing today but yesterday was working on two laundry bags for Aussie Heros

The photo does not show the detail but it has letters sewn on for HMAS Darwin

This one is made from,  a T towel I found at an op shop in Boronia, they fundraise for the Veterans, thought this one was good with the poppies.

Well dinner is done and I am off to blob on the couch.

More progress

Today I finished the quilting  on the Aussie Hero quilt and machine sewed the binding and label on...now for the hand sewing...I also still need to applique on some pictures of the recipients dog.

I alos had some fabric from the Bellarine group to make a quilt for others and got that together this afternoon...looking at the photo now I see I have made a mistake on the right side, I think I should have taken the white back up again instead of the long white strip going down. Wee bit late to find that now!!! Will have to be a chrvron with a difference!!!

Another chevron pattern, has gone together well. I find random very difficult to do, hard to just go with what comes off the top of the pile!!

I think the Supervisor has settled in for the evening!!!

This morning I walked down to the post office, it was a beautiful morning

Luckily the cloud went to opposite way to me!!

Progress

Well the mulch is spread, the weeds have been given a fright, we have been to the garden centre for some pots and potting mix.....we got a few things done today.
I took advantage of the sunny afternoon to sandwich the latest Aussie Hero quilt

And now to begin on the quilting, the clouds have come over outside, so maybe some rain might be coming.

I had better get sewing, it is easy to just sit and gaze out the window!!

Yesterday

was sit and sew at St Leonards and the four of us had a great catch up, Jill is busy working on a beautiful quilt that will go above her bed, well I can't share that photo because the laptop and blogger are not talking again today, maybe another day.
I have been playing a little on the sewing machine and made two mini quilts

Must away, there is a heap of mulch to be spread onto the garden and hubby is out there with the shovel and wheelbarrow already.

Home days

The Supervisor and I have enjoyed a couple of at home days, having a walk along the beach, doing a little gardening, some sewing, scrapbooking....relaxing things...blogger is not playing nice and uploading for me, so I will try later.
Well  now it is tomorrow....

these two blankets were finished Saturday night (yes it was a late one!!)

and this one was finished last night. They are ready for delivery now.

Today I went over to Seachange and there were some quilts on display on the stage at the Seniors Centre...the display was to celebrate their 50 years of operation.

Isn't this beautiful..the colours really pop!

Today

has been Guild day, and it was the Biggest Quilting Bee other wise known as the Buggest Morning tea, so we fundraise for cancer research. The speaker today was the founder of Knitted Knockers, they provide knitted bra inserts for women who have been through a mastectomy.

We were to decorate out tables in pink and yellow, I didn't get a photo of the winning table, but it was beautiful...lots of pink roses, tea cups and saucers and candles with twinkling lights.

These quilts are from the Travelling Suitcase Exhibition

which was supposed to be with us at the Quilt In, but the booking was forgotten

so we had them this month...they are beautiful quilts, the theme was Flora and Fauna.

There wasn't much show and tell today

This is a beautiful quilt that was started in a class at the Guild, Margaret the creator was sewing the binding today.

this one is done and waiting for it's crochet edging.

We had a silent auction at Guild today

I was the successful bidder on these pots of bulbs

and this lovely pot with pansies and lobelia I think, it is all pink coloured flowers. Will look wonderful on the table once it grows a little more.

Time for some dinner and a G & T I think.

Back home again

How nice it is to be back home after caring for Eve for 9 days. There was a VERY special surprise waiting for me, it arrived in the mail.....

How amazing is that?? A Michelle Ridgway original of the Supervisor!! I have to say a few tears were shed when I opened it....Thank you so much Michelle it is beautiful, we both love it and it will be framed and go up next to Puku.  

 I am still gobsmacked and can't believe what you have done, you really are a very special person Michelle. Thank you, thank you , thank you!!!!

So for a bit of a catch up

The Aussie Hero quilt has gone in the mail

And last week Margaret and I presented the Dignity Quilt to Rice Village (back), they were very excited to see the quilt and really pleased with it.

(front) I am pleased to say we have started something here, the quilt was shown at an Australia wide meeting for the Mercy Health organisation and they are going to try and contact quilting groups near the Mercy Health homes and see if that  group will make a Dignity Quilt for them. How good is that, there might even be funds to help them be made. 

While at Eve's place I walked her dog

Basil the Bad, he is a Jug, Jack Russell X Pug. (Looks angelic there doesn't he!!)

We went several days to the Arboretum just down the road, it is a very nice place to have a walk.

I have laid out two KOGO rugs in the making.this one isn't too bad

this one had squares of differing sizes, so will be interesting to see how it goes together.

and lastly, if I have not put you to sleep, hubby did another pastel from a photo I took at Hobbiton in NZ. It is framed now so hard to get a reasonable photo. Now we need to find wall space.
