Last Sunday

 Jill and I went over the Drysdale to the Springdale hall where the local felters were having a show.

The view as you came in the door. There were many beautiful things here, jackets, scarves, hats and some lovely containers of all shapes and sizes

this one came home with me. No idea what I am going to do with it, I just liked it, I guess it can sit on the window sill for now and be admired! 😀

Tuesday I went over to Portarlington to take a quilt to Joan to be quilted and on the way home had a wander through the newish playground there, the sculptures are done with a chainsaw and are the base  of old trees. (Newish could have been pre covid)

These are down at the beach near where the ferry leave from for Melbourne, I think they are mussels as there is a lot of mussel farming in the bay out from here. 

Lots of work is happening here, a new wharf has been built, a covered walkway is going in for the ferry passengers and the mussel farmers can drive out to their boats if they need to.

The most amazing moon came up Tuesday night, I was told it was a strawberry full moon.

Right I am sure there is something I should be doing, so I will go and find what it is!

Out in the Garden

After weeding for an hour and a half I was driven back inside by the mosquitoes, there are hundreds of the little blighters down there! But then I ventured out to get some photos as the garden looks so good this time of the year.

this geranium has been struggling but has produced some flowers

the lavender is heaving with bees

the wisteria has bloomed, the bees also love this plant.

the nasturtium is flowering 

this is a peony rose I planted about three weeks ago, so happy to see it growing so fast.

the echium is also covered in flowers and bees

the plum tree is covered in blossom, could be a good plum season this year.

the big fig tree has new leaf growth

the smaller fig tree has leaf and baby figs!

In the front garden I spied a bee diving headfirst into these flowers, the bees must love spring, so much food for them about the place.

Now I am off to do some sewing.

Gardening Day

Today I spent a good few hours in the garden, removing some very happy weeds! It was wonderful to spend some time in the sunshine, we had a sunshiny day yesterday but it was Guild day so I was inside all day.

Here is a little of Lisa's show and tell, the red quilt on the right is going to the St John of God hospital.

This amazing quilt was made for a newly redecorated bedroom .

This quilt made by Anna on the left, was made all by hand and from op shop shirts, aprons and blouses. Stunning.

Tracee was making a very cute dragon.  Can't wait to see that finished.

Errol the Emu suffered a serious leg injury when a huge branch dropped off the gum tree,  both legs amputated sadly. He now sits on a tree stump, higher than before and keeps an eye on the garden.

This daisy has burst into flower

the grevillia has beautiful flowers, the bees love this one.

the back yard is looking good, even though it is winter still.

and this is my helper (NOT) he wants back scratches and wants to sit where I am weeding. But he gets away with it because he is so cute!!

Love the late sun in the afternoon this time of the year, we get to play shadows.

This raven was cleaning its beak up in the next doors gum tree late this afternoon

and this cactus if flowering very happily. I think the possums keep knocking/eating bits off it as I find bits of leaf on the deck...they get put into water until the grow little roots and then back into a pot to make a new plant.

I have been doing some sewing. some secret for now and some preparing EPP.

But now I am off to soak in the bath with a G &T and a book!!

This week

has been an indoors week for me, lots of  reading has happened, although the to be read pile is still big!!

During the week four more Sisters joined the family

As did a shopping bag, much better than plastic.

Last night a little stitching happened on the Old Time Kaleidoscope block, to be honest I was avoiding the football!! 😆😆

Firday afternoon we had a really cold weather front come across, we had hail, rain, thunder and lightning, followed by sunshine and rainbow, then more of the same.

The back deck was covered in hail

As were parts of the garden. We do get hail here but it does not usually last on the ground long.

This morning I have cleaned the oven which was sadly overdue and is one of my least favourite jobs 😷.

Now I am off to vacuum once hubby has had his nap and then off to the sewing room. Which I might add is reeling from shock as it was cleaned up yesterday 😲😲😲

I went to take a photo but the mess on the desk doesn't look like I have done much so more to be done.

Better do it and not just talk about it!!

Preparation

has been happening here over the last few days

Four packs of the Old Kaleidoscope Blocks ready to be sewn together

I have cut several strips of fabric ready to cut further into pieces for the One Block Wednesday blocks, I will get back to them shortly.

Yesterday the Supervisor went for our amble along the beach, is was a beautiful morning 

Little fairy wrens were bobbing around in the grass

the big gull was in residence on the end of the wall

the gulls were having a rest

or maybe doing the morning yoga?

the desert rose is flowering beautifully, it is so pretty.

The Supervisor had a little rest in the back yard when we got back.

I am listening to the TV as I am writing this and hearing about the shocking shooting that has just happened in NZ, it is so sad we as humans just can't respect others and get on with each other.

I am off to my happy place in the sewing room.
