Geocaching

has been the activity of choice today. I met up with Carleen and Des, quilting and geocaching friends and we went via Leopold where I found two of Des's caches and then on to the East Geelong cemetery where we set out to follow directional points and clues and to identify grave stones and gather clues.
We thought we would be there for maybe an hour ...two and a half hours later we headed home!! But we had lots of fun and laughter and confusion over which way was North!!
The photos have come in the wrong order but not to worry!
Our beach walk yesterday morning

The Supervisor had a paddle

some beautifully coloured shells had been washed up

this orange one was tiny

One statue at the cemetery today

this is the original Geelong cemetery and we were taken to many names we recognised, it was very interesting poking around.
Yesterday I started joining some knitted squares together for a KOGO blanket

one side looks plain

the other I have joined by doing crochet.
The next installemtn of Doing the Rounds has arrived

more curved seams to sew!

and lots of luscious fabric. How pretty does that look.
I am off to the couch to finish off that blanket.
Happy Easter.

Fixed Up!

The Doing the Rounds has been unsewn (only 8 circles thank goodness!!) and resewn and eagle eyed Ondrea spotted one rosette was missing, well now that BOM#3 has arrived I have the extra bit of material Sandy kindly sent, the missing hexie has been replaced and rosette is in place.

Today I have been in to Geelong to do Guild stuff, we visited the local politician to see if we could get some financial help with the Rickie Tims event we have later in the year....we have more information to take back to the committee and decisions to make now. They made us very welcome though.
Later this afternoon Cheryl (Guild President) and I went to the Bluebird Foundation to drop off the Book Reading Quilts

Bron and Lucy were very happy to receive them...discussion was happening over which quilts were going where a they work at different venues.

They are lovely ladies and have invited us to go along to one of their sessions next term.
When I got home this amazing parcel was waiting for me on the kitchen bench

Love a surprise parcel, and isn't it beautifully decorated!

Lots of beautiful goodies inside from Julie of Threadbare Cottage. Handmade soap, Kiwiana fat quarters, hand knitted dish cloths, hand made card, tea towel with a beautiful message about dogs on it, a reminder list with a Chow on it and a lovely hand painted heart with the message  "Life is a patchwork of Friendship". Julie helped me out by homing some of my mothers crystal and linen bits, I was so happy  they were going to a loving home and this is Julie's thank you!.
Thank you very much Julie, you have spoilt me!

Love the Chowchow!! The lost on the cover here sound very familiar!!
I had better run, hubby is wanting dinner and I need to rescue it from the oven.
Cheers to wonderful friends.

Today

has been a .lovely calm day, not too windy or hot. The Supervisor and I went for a walk this morning along the beach
the water was really calm, so nice after the weather of the last few days

we do not usually get many shells, but there have been lots washed up in the heavy weather
the Supervisor trudged along the beach heading back home, he prefers the track!

When we got back home I got my bike out and went for a ride...love the light windy days, so much easier for bike riding for me!!
I went along Cliff Street, which is a dead end, and found this  along the way. So on the way back I stopped, chose a book and carried on. I will return it once the book is finished.

I am here with Doing the Rounds...BUT...
I went into the sewing room this morning and found this!! Mmmmmm...where have I gone wrong??

On closer inspection, this section is missing a circle and they are more spaced out! Think I must have been spaced out at the time of sewing!! So some unsewing and repinning needs to happen tonight.

Today I prepared the EPP shapes to go over the seam between the rounds, so I am linking up with Anthea over at Hibiscus Stitches for her Piece Yourself Together celebration of all things EPP.
If you visit Anthea you can see what people are making with EPP.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday

I collected the Cat Book Reading quilt from Joan at Faraway Quilts..she very kindly did the quilting for me Saturday morning, she didn't want me putting the moz on her machine!!
It has come up really well. Very happy.

Another Book reading quilt got some very basic quilting yesterday

the Cats got some binding..I put some furniture fabric on the back of this quilt..$4.00 on special at Lincraft, it has made the quilt heavy, but will be great for going on the floor, as it needs to do.

today I am set up for some serious binding sewing...have some sustenance...

which has been sussed out by the Supervisor...sigh...now I have to share!!
Happy sewing.

Yet another catch up

I have been avoiding the computer for a few days, I have had to do paper work for my mother so once that is done I head off. But some sewing has been happening here
I have finished the binding on this Blanket of Love..it has gone off in the mail to Cheryll, who gathers them up and then delivers them to hospitals in her area.

It was a beautiful day yesterday

the tide was out but it was still great being near the sea

I was working on getting the next circle on Doing the Rounds, all was going well until one wouldn't sit flat..

Yes, I had put it on back to front!! So some unsewing had to happen...

a few more circles have joined the family

We had visitors yesterday, the people we bought the house from here and the people they bought the house from back in 2001, the other couple bought this house in 1988, they brought along photos to show us the changes they made to the house. We had a great visit. I decided to make a cake...bit of a challenge for  me! I had lots of plums in the freezer so got out two containers of stewed plums, by the time I had taken out pips and searched for more pips, the plums were mashed, so they got mixed in with the batter and sprinkled with coconut

and it came out ok! Eben hubby went back for seconds...that is saying something!!

three Book Reading quilts are waiting for their labels and they are done, one more was delivered to the quilter yesterday, she has offered to quilt for me as she says I puit the moz on her machine!! On the way back I went to find a geocache

and found this view

some of the locals watched what I was doing...

and finally, this is where I am up to with Doing the Rounds, it needs the seam trimmed back and a good iron, then I am hoping it will sit flat...fingers crossed!!
I am off now, there is heavy rain and thunder and lightening happening here, very welcome for the garden!
Happy stitching.
