Girls Road Trip

Last Friday Ingrid and I ventured out to show her two quilt shops, our first stop was in Ballan at Mill Rose Gallery
Ingrid outside the red door

and inside exploring patterns and fabric.
Next we went on the Sebastopol and to Gail's Patchwork Emporium
The vine is a beautiful  red hanging from the verandah.

there are so many beautiful fabrics in this shop

so much to look at

and explore

Ingrid and I made a few purchases!
this pattern and fabric had to come home with me

and fabric for a horse quilt for my sister in law, poppies for an Aussie Hero quilt from Ingrid

Love this Ghastlies fabric
On the way home we stopped in Bannockburn for petrol and a comfort stop.

these metal shapes were on the walls of the public toilets

A Rooster for the men

Cockatoos decorated the water tank outside

chookies along the back wall

and a hen for the ladies!
Pretty special I thought!
Hubby is looking for lunch so I had better make a move.
Happy stitching.

Busy days

The binding is sewn onto another donated quilt for the St John of God Oncology dept

I hope to deliver some of these next Friday.

It is a beautiful quilt.

Ingrid has made this beautiful cross stitch whale, and did the binding on it yesterday.

We had a walk to the pier yesterday, Ingrid and Jasper running back to meet me.

This pelican posed beautifully on top of the light pole for me!!

This one was happily perched on a rock

some grooming was happening

watching and waiting for a feed

On our way back this man was feeding the birds, pelicans and sea gulls were all hoping for a feed.

Last night I finished up 27 One Block Wednesday blocks, I am still behind, but will catch up in time.

The Supervisor was wondering what I was up to, he has been close by my side all day.

This afternoon I sewed the binding onto another oncology quilt, yay, another ready to be delivered to the hospital.

My new mug rug, made by Ingrid, her second attempt! How special is that?  A new scissor keep Ingrid found at AQC, I am becoming very colour coordinated!! And of course refreshment is necessary.
I had better go and bring in the washing and then return to some sewing before dinner is required.
Happy sewing.

Since I have been home

We have had a beautiful sunset

I have checked on the desert rose to find it is still flowering! Very exciting for me!

I have painted a bird bath with grout sealer as it was leaking.

I finished a jelly roll quilt top, thanks to an idea from Susan and Lynda who made them at Scrub Stitch'n. The Supervisor gave his approval just before the wind blue and the quilt top fell on him!!

I had the urge to cook, not normal for me, but it does happen from time to time  and tried my hand at some gf Hot Cross buns, they came out of the oven looking much the same and did not agree with my digestive system so will go to feed the birds!

The I made some fruit and nut Bliss Balls and they were great, macadamia nuts and fruits.

We had a walk along the beach, the Chowdy had a paddle,

Giselle who had come to stay for a few days enjoyed watching the boats coming and going

the Heron boats were going out for a sail
our compulsory on the back deck photo.

Giselle started this bag many years ago and it needed the handles sewn on and the top row sewn down, so I did that one morning and now Giselle has a finished bag.

Ingrid and Nick are here staying and Ingrid gave me this egg warmer....how cute is that??

the knitted blanket is slowly growing, onto gray wool now.
Ingrid went to the AQC for th first time this year and came home with lots of goodies,
including this beautiful block she has given me, the fabrics were already on steam a seam and were pre cut!! How good is that, so yesterday I laid it out on an applique mat Ingrid also gave me, and got the picture together, then transferred it to the backing fabric. Hopefully this week I can get some back and wadding together and begin to sew it down.
I am off to put one more coat of sealer on the bird bath, once it is dry it can go back in the garden, then back to the sewing.
Happy stitching.

Scrub Stitch'n and heading home

Sunday morning I went out to take photos of my two finished kaleidoscope blocks

Am very happy with them.
Sunday afternoon we followed Chooky to her house and had a photo outside the Chookshed!

Tourists!!

We went to help feed the cattle but Mr Chooky had finished when we got there.

It is just so dry here

A glimpse of the sunset

the front of Chookys house, bore water keeps the grass growing around the house, could not imagine how it would feel if all around the house was brown...we used to get that in Gisborne over the summer, everything dried/died off and it was so depressing.

Out the front gate we went for the trip back to Melbourne.

We had to stop on the way and get a photo pf this beautifully painted tank. I can't remember the name of the town it was in.  Update, Janice tells me the town name is Gulargambone, affectuonally known as "Gular", thank you Janice.

Lots of dry red soil.

Another small town with a beautiful old church.

I had to say goodbye to Raewyn at the airport
We are still working on our selfie skills, but we give each other a good laugh when we try!!
The total kms we did for this trip was 2268.3 according to my calculations, not bad for a couple of Kiwis exploring Aussie.
Happy travels.
