So much

for my blogging each week, 10 days have somehow disappeared since I last did a post.

Some sewing has been happening

the cropped diamonds have been slowly growing, I decided to sew the two sections i had stitched together, one is longer than the other but I will fix that as I go

another new section has been started. This is my evening hand stitching project.
The Aussie hero quilt is finished and in the mail
the next AH quilt is sandwiched and waiting quilting.
This quilt was made by Maria from the Bellarine Quilters, it has now been delivered to SJOG for the Oncology ward. Great use of shirtings. Maria is a wizz at scrappy quilts.
I called in yesterday to see Beth and Finn, he was happily sleeping

We have put in a new vege garden and planted it up, fingers crossed it grows! So far the possums have left it alone.

I went for a bike ride yesterday, it was very windy, we haven't had a howling north wind for a while, we are in for a few hot days.

Surf at St Leonards!! 😀

Finn, not sure what was happening here, just making faces I think.

Beth and Finn

Yep that woman with the camera is still here!! 😂

This morning the tide was out so not as many big waves

still nice to be out and about

Heading off home.
We are off to Melbourne this afternoon and are staying over night as I have a follow up appointment at the Royal Melbourne at 10.30 tomorrow morning. All is good, just checking.
Happy stitching.

Retreat day 3

Today was the last day and I was a bit tired. The neighbouring house, about 500m away had loud music going all night, when I say all night, it started at about 8pm and didn't stop until 8am. Most of us were really tired from lack of sleep.  Still done sewing was done
two blocks for the challenge at Bellarine quilters,  a modern  quilt with equilateral triangles. There is a third block but my tired brain said No.
I left about 1pm and went to the Botanic Gardens at Daylesford to do an Adventure Lab.
there was a clue behind here, thank goodness I didn't need to climb up!!
Wombat statues on Wombat Hill
From there I drove to Ballan and got a chai and did an Adventure Lab there
old building in the main street
the Post Office
Anglican Church
This next place used to be a home, the whole wall was done in mosaic in all kinds of found things, not a lot remains now sadly

Doesn't the gate draw you inside?

                                                               Still is lovely to see.
Today I have been to see Finn
And the grand fur babies have been over for a play

I am off to take the fur babies home
Happy stitching.

Retreat day 2

Today has mainly been sewing the Anthology blocks
Calling it a day now, 10.30 and I can no longer cut straight or sew straight!!
We had a BBQ dinner tonight outside under the garden lights
still need lots of selfie practise!! Fellow retreat attendees.
Cuppa and rest time I think.
Happy stitching.

Retreat

This weekend I am at Daylesford being an extra body to make up numbers for a quilt retreat. Yesterday I made an Aussie Hero quilt top
the request was for bright flowers. I have made it a bit too wide because my maths brain went haywire last night! Some quilting will happen at home.
Last night I did some free range quilting on the other Aussie Hero quilt
blogger has given a side view!!
I was happy with the book blocks, I had planned to do more but they took a lot longer than I expected
Lots more quilting to be done at home.
Today I went over to Trentham to do an Adventure Lab. It took me from the park in rhe old quarry site to the train station to the Falls. It was interesting and a good walk.
oops, here is Kathy with her near finished quilt top, she is very happy 😊
Gus the wombat
door way in Trentham
the old train station.
I have been sewing Anthology blocks today, have just had a short walk  now it is back to sewing.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Well.last night, Friday, was Friday night with friends and I completely forgot!! 🙄 I spent the day doing prep for a UFO sewing day with great Bellarine Quilters today.
I started off with a block for the Anthology quilt, I think I have about 30ish to go. I really want to get these finished.
Then I moved onto to a partially made quilt top I was given to go to Oncology. Some unpicking had to happen and it was put away.
Yesterday I pinned the coloured squares onto the corners of the blue blocks and today they were sewn in place and the last two rows were sewn on. The quilt flimsy is finished except for some kind of border. I don't have any of the original fabric so will have to come up with something.
as it isn't quite the right size I need for Oncology.
our small but happy group today.
I have been quilting the green strippy quilt made by Sue J, some of us made blocks for the last Gisborne retreat. It has gone together really well. The quilting is done , just needs trimming back now ready for binding and all the endy threads bits sewn in. That will keep me busy tonight!! 😁
I had better head off and check the dinner.
Happy stitching.

Thought Bubbles

The blocks for Thought Bubbles are done and the sashings sewn on, I have one border on and one to go, plus all the little circles that now go on the sashings.

We have also been given a challenge by the Bellarine Quilters, we have been given this
a tea towel, it could be a bag, a table runner, a quilt centre my thinking cap is on. Luckily we have the rest of the year to make this.

Happy stitching.
