Last day of January

This challenge for January has been completed

I have made the blocks for the Guild Mystery Challenge
A few more to be trimmed
I have finished the Bellarine Quilters Modern Triangles challenge, fewer blocks than the pattern wanted but I wanted it finished!
The quilt has gone to Joan to be quilted.
The Aussie Hero quilt top is finished, I have just sandwiched it out  the back deck, which was a bit hot

Next time I need to drag the table into the shade.
I had a walk with Beth and Finn yesterday, we had a play on the swing on the way back
It was a beautiful day to be out and about

I am happy to have had a productive month and am looking forward to seeing which number Deana pulls from the hat for February.
Happy stitching.

Happy day

Today I had a lovely day catching up with fellow quilters, we had a great chat and morning tea which for some of us extended into the afternoon as we had an unsewing Bee

The group has been given several quilts, sadly the quilting is not the best so we are unpicking it ready for quilting again.
Earlier in the morning we had show and tell of older quilts we had made
Great use of doilies here
It is lovely having a look at quilts we might not have seen for for a while.
After the ladies had gone home I had a call from Beth to go and relieve her for an hour or so, I had a great time playing with Finn
Still unpicking here but nearly ready for bed!
Happy stitching.

January 17th

Was a very special day  Finn turned 1 year old.
Beth and Finn  were over staying with Beth's parents so I went  on the early (for me) ferry to help celebrate.
Finn had a great time playing with his balloons
Finn with his proud parents
And three of his four grandparents
He enjoyed opening his presents
Playing with Nanny and Pop
And this grandmother
After a sleep Finn had a taste of banana cake made by his Mum
First taste of the icing which was a mix of cream cheese and yoghurt
All good now
The strawberries were good too.
Happy first birthday Finn.

This and that

I have continued on with the Guild Mystery Quilt, some sewing and unsewing when I realised I hadn't read the pattern properly!
This is the unsewing section , done in  front of the tv over two evenings
And the required 16 blocks
Today I have finished the light value blocks...now to sew the left over dark and light triangles together, I have sewn 50 and have 78 to go 😁.
I have also been sewing up left over bits from other quilts. This top will go to the US to a lady who donates quilts to children who find themselves in a police car or ambulance or hospital. I need to add a bit more to get it to the right length.
As I have heaps to do at present I have signed up for another Aussie Hero quilt - the recipient has asked for black and red plus Lotd of the Rings, I am waiting on a panel to come in the mail and then will get to it.
Ok, off to do a little more
Happy stitching.

A Finish

This morning I have finished #6 on the Scrub Stitchin' 2024 Challenge, it is a Friendship Drawstring Bag designed by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched.
Mine is slightly different from the pattern but I am very happy with it. Pretty!
Now on with the Guild Mystery Quilt.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

I started on the afternoon sitting out on the front deck, there was a lovely breeze which got stronger as the afternoon went on, I needed things to hold my fabric on the table
Most of the fabric cut I went inside
258 squares cut diagonally!! 😳
I sewed several triangles together u till I didn't want to sit at the machine any more
Then I cut out the lining for #6
And got a bit like a blowfly in a bottle doing a bit of this and that
A strip was sewn for the Mad quilt
And some hexies were sewn because I could - now these neglected projects have been brought to my attention I want to work on them NOW!🤣😂
I had a productive Friday evening,  thank you to Cheryll for hosting us.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

It is the first Friday of the year and so tonight is Friday Night with Friends

a evening of stitching hosted by Cheryll, you can join in over at her blog.
I have made some progress on #6 and also have made a mistake, there is no G in Scrub Stitchin', I always manage to get that wrong!! So a little unsewing is on the cards for me today. I have been sitting on the front deck enjoying the gentle breeze coming from the sea, it is hot (for me) inside today!
I have also decided to quilt the sides and back of the bag, not in the pattern but adding my touch I guess. Hope I have not shrunk the fabric down too much!
I would also like to cut all these squares on the diagonal ready for sewing, there are 256, might take a little while!!
I am off to do some unsewing outside and then maybe some cutting.
Happy sewing.

Month 1 of Chookshed Sitichers Challenge

Deana has drawn the first number in the challenge and it is

Yes #6, which for several of us is
this. Mine has not been out of the packet since last April, so now is the time to get it done. Applique is not my forte so this will be a challenge for sure.
I have been stitching away on the cropped diamonds - many people have told me I am mad, so it will be called the Mad quilt! 😁
Lots more sritching to be done.
I joined in a  zoom with Chooky and the Chookshed stitchers the other day
Was good to see e eryone who was there that day.
I ha e been for a couple of walks with Adam and Finn
And watched meal time
And had a play, Finn loves to take selfies so I have to watch phone and be quick taking photos!!
I am off to start on #6.
Happy stitching.
