Last day of February

Toady is the last day for the Chookshed Stitchers challenge for this month

I am very happy, I have bound and labelled the last quilt, a donated top, quilted by Joan

I was given a bag with 3 completed braid strips and the cut fabric pieces, so I have completed the top, just this afternoon. This will be completed at some stage and go to Oncology.

These are the left over fabric bits, maybe I can sew them together and they can go on the back.
Deana has a link up on her page where we can see what the other Stitchers have finished/done for the month. Wonder which number we will get for March??
Happy stitching.

Half way mark

I am a little late here, Deana, has a mid month check in for the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge - I can't believe it is the middle of the month already! I have been working on Oncology quilts and have a few finishes

The two top quilts above were given to me as tops to finish for Oncology, Joan quilted them for me and I have done the binding and labelling. Another quilt is awaiting its binding. The stripped quilt I have made and quilted.

I was given this part made French Braid quilt with some fabric, so I have made a start to make more braids so I can make a quilt top. Hopefully I will get more done this month.
There is a linky at Deana's where you can check what the other Stitchers are doing.
Happy stitching.

Retreat

The last post went really strange so I am trying again 😁
I spent Mon to Thurs last week at The Retreat in Gisborne
Busy ladies
I made the first two stars in the Corner Star quilt
Then another two
another two and another I forgot to take a photo of them 🙃
Judy made a  beautiful fat quarter quilt
And a poppy quilt
Maxine was putting nine patches together  these were from a swap about 15 years ago
The finished quilt top
Sue made this beautiful star
Carleen made this Swoon Block  it goes with these
Don't they look great?
Another Judy creation, made from left over bits and pieces
Another Judy creation, she had Christine sewing up a storm - these were triangles left from another project.
Maxine made us a pavlova - guess who had the last slice at lunchtime the next day! 🤭
Maria was making blocks which I didn't get a photo of as well as binding.
Maria and I spent some time looking at this double wedding ring quilt, Jill has done the hand quilting, now we need to do a lot of unpicking and renewing as the border is wavy and does not sit flat.
I am stopping here, 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 Blogger publishes this ok this time.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Last night was Friday Night with Friends  an evening hosted by Cheryll, where we sit and sew.
I started late afternoon

And finished the quilting on this Oncology quilt, love these strippy quilts.
Then I cut and sewed on a binding for another Oncology quilt Joan had quilted for me

Always good to use cut of backing for the binding 😁
Then trimmed the first quilt and cut the binding

Again from the backing

Back upstairs I sat and sewed in all the endy thread bits of the strip quilt, that is now ready for binding. All in all I was happy with my productive evening.
You can visit Cherylls blog to see what the other Friday Nighters got up to.
I am off to cut fabric ready to sew on retreat next week.
Happy stitching.

This Month

Has started with a UFO or sewing day at the Bellarine Quilters, we made zipped bags with clear vinyl fronts

These are now out of order, binding added at home

sewing the start of the bag at the class

learning a new way to attach the zip

Busy ladies

Binding added at home - some hand stitching had to be done on the bits the machine didn't catch.

- I sewed the binding onto the Modern Triangles quilt

And started the quilting on an Oncology quilt - blogger wants this one to stay sideways !!
I even managed to get the backing caught underneath 🙄, all fixed now though
Today I have been for a  walk with Beth and Finn
It is a beautiful day today, I have walked the dogs and they have had a play in the back yard, soon they will be walked home.

Of course there is a photo of Finn

And then it was lunch time.
I am.off to cut binding for the Aussie Hero quilt.
Happy stitching.  😊

February

Another month to fire up with the next Chookshed Stitchers Challenge 2024

This month Deana has drawn #2.

#2 for me is to work on Oncology quilts
I have been given many, many quilt tops, blocks, part done quilts and fabric to be made in to quilts to go to the Oncology ward at St John of God hospital in Geelong. Belinda, the lovely ward admin lady there, looks after the quilts and matches them up with the right person. She is very particular about the quilts as she knows the work that goes into them, if you say you don't like quilts them you don't get one!!
this bag has 4 quilts that are quilted, they need their binding and label.

Some embroidered blocks and a quilt top than need attention

these three quilts need backing and quilting, lets see how much gets done this month!!
Linking up over at Deana's blog.
I will also be sewing on the Guild Mystery Quilt this month when the next instructions come out. (Trying not to get behind!!)
Happy stitching.
