End of March

 This month has come and gone so quickly! I have managed to complete my #4 Chookshed Stitchers challenge

I had planned to make the Flinders Street Station panel into a quilt, but got sidetracked and made a children's one for Finn first

which I am happy to say is at his house and being used.

Then I got on with my original challenge and I am happy to say it is finished

My quilt holding assistant is away for the weekend, so I had to lay the quilt on the spare bed. The quilting was done by Joan of Faraway Quilting over at Portarlington. She did a beautiful job.

All ready for April and the next challenge.

This and that

On our way home from Ballarat we stopped so I could do an Adventure Lab, which involved a 2km walk around around a lake looking at aboriginal art on plaques

On my way I spotted this wonderful letterbox

Friday I went to a local school fair with Beth and Finn

Balloons are a favourite!

Beth's friend was being dumped in the water so they went over to push the button and got soaked! Lucky it was a warm afternoon.

I have been stitching away on the hexies mainly in the evenings

The station panel has been quilted by Joan , I need to do the binding now.

The binding is ready to go but for some unknown reason I cut it at 3 inches and not two and a half, so I have to trim it back.

All the blocks are made for  Guild Mystery Quilt, they need to be sewn together. I have  a picture to follow so need to sit and quietly work it out.

I am off for a bike ride to the post box now

Mid March

 here it is half way through the month already. One  panel quilt is finished and today went home with Finn, it feels so good when his parents like something you have made and are happy to take it home!

Finn is enjoying looking at different things and of course we talk about them to him.

This last week has not been super productive for me as I have had a heavy cold, Finn and his Dad have it, I have it, Grandad might be coming down with it......you know the drill 😊

I am still sewing the Flinders Street Station panel and hope to have it together by the end of the month.

Lake Burrumbeet

We jave been staying at Lake Burrumbeet for the last few days, we decided to have a little holiday to celebrate our 40th wedding  anniversary.

Who knew when I met David 44 years ago on a Top Beck long weekend tour to see the tulips in Amsterdam, we would find ourselves here.

Our anniversary dinner last night near Lake Wendouree in Ballarat.

We have had very hot weather every day here, 36 deg C , that has given us some beautiful sunsets

We head home tomorrow via 4 country towns that have Adventure Labs for me to explore, hubby will sit in the car, he has no interest in the Ad Labs.

The temp is slowly rising again today heading for 34 degC, I am hoping for a cooler day tomorrow .

I have been sewing away on #4, which is to make a quilt top with a panel.

One top is done, very simple but done

Oh dear blogger has turned the photo again!!  Edited on the lap top now 👍

I even found some chook fabric for the backing.

I have started the Flinders St station panel, I rescued someone else's 9 patches from the bin and thought maybe I could put some on the corners,  they are all different, but thought they might give a little ping.....one went on yesterday and I couldn't work out what was wrong and how I got the next border on.

It came to me in the middle of the night just as Denice said it would,  even though it was referring to ideas 💡 🙃 😅 

Today there will be unpicking after the house chores are done!! A little backwards needs to happen to go forwards!

And family...I didn't get a lot of sewing done

All I did were these two hexagon units for the Tea and Cake quilt

Shane and Rilla arrived around 9pm  along with Miss Miffy who settled in on the couch.

Saturday we went to Van Loons for lunch to celebrate Shane's birthday  sorry only photos of Finn 😁

He was taking off and putting on the wooden ball on the beach glass container and thought he was so clever!! We all did!!

So special to have everyone together.

The lure of the birds outside was too much. She did have to stay inside though!

I have done a little sewing this afternoon, we now have Hank and Tira staying for a couple of nights

I am off to the lap top to see if I can turn these sideways photos around.

March

It is a new month and that means another challenge in the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge. This month is #4 and that for me means working on panel quilt.

I have had this panel of Flinders Street train station for a very long time, I keep getting it out and putting it away, I even bought the fabric that is with it, I have no idea of what I was going to do now!! Ah well, I guess I play around and see what happens, it will be plain but hopefully it will be done!

While putting fabric away I found this

cute little panel, maybe I can get this done too - once it has has a really good iron!!

I have to go and do some cleaning as #2 son and partner and cat are coming for the weekend,

oh by the way today is FNWF

I have signed up but as we have family here sewing might not happen. maybe a little hand sewing, we shall see.
