Busy in the kitchen

Today I caught up on some of the plums and tomatoes
Eight and a quarter jars of plum jam that refused to thicken up...we had 9 but I knocked one over as I was putting on the jam covers!!!! We have ten containers of stewed plums with brown sugar and cinnamon, (and a burnt pot..woops!!) and six jars of tomato chutney. I thought as I had run out of garlic I would put some bush pepper and salt mix we have and when I tasted it, it nearly took out my throat!! I am not a fan of super hot foods so might have to find another home for these. The chutney didn't  thicken like it should have, we will see what happens once it cools down.
I had better sort some dinner now I guess, then after dinner I am going to trace this stitchery

Blogger decided the photo should be upside down so I took another one sideways, that seems to be ok with blogger but a bit difficult for the rest of us!!
I like this one, is long and skinny, this will keep me busy along with the stars.
Have a great evening.

Today

has been a day of bits and pieces, it has been humid here, but now a storm is coming through. This morning I was busy in the kitchen
Another brew of tomato chutney and some plum sauce, the house still smells good!
The sky was interesting this morning.
I have fixed the binding on the hexie quilt, is already to do the hand sewing.
This afternoon I made two little fairly plain blocks for the Quilts of Hope group. They will go in the mail tomorrow.
I also have been playing with Tim Holtz fabric to make a roll of tickets for my tram lady, they are a little big but I think they will be ok, I am still wrestling with the knitted bootie she is holding, I made a premmie size one but it is too big, looks way out of proportion.....so have to think on that some more.
The tram is sewn onto the backing, ready for the tram lady to join it.
Off to do some more playing.
Happy sewing.

Monday

Today I was over at the Bellarine Quilters sit and sew day and I forgot to take my camera!!! How could I do that??? There was some amazing show and tell and I can't share it sadly! It was good to catch up with the ladies there.
Some sewing has been happening here
I have been adding a border to the clamshells, I have three to go on one side and then across the bottom...I think it needs a good iron!!

the tomatoes needed picking today, I for a kilo and a half...

and despite the netting the birds have eaten most of these plums, this is my share!! The snow peas are still producing a few now and then, they are so fresh and crunchy.
I am off now to prep some tomatoes for chutney.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday and today

The days are zipping by here...I have some good books from the library and they seem to soak up a lot of time somehow!! I have joined along with other bloggers to try and use scraps and yesterday I decided to try and make cotton reel blocks, straight forward I thought, but no, my reel ends came out the wrong way
And had to be unpicked and started again

The centres went together well, this months colour as you can see is purple.

I have now finished 5, but will post them on Saturday for the link up.

I got together another quarter of the foundation pieced block, once again the top corner is short, but hopefully within the seam line.

Today there were more tomatoes to gather so I got some chutney together, this smells so good as it is cooking, I hope it tastes ok!!

All ready for a label.

The tablet has decided this is a sideways photo for some reason, this ismas far as I have managed to get on the next lot of foundation piecing today. Hopefully the block will be done tomorrow.
We had amazing sky's when the Supervisor and I went for a walk yesterday

Happy sewing.
