I have had

a lovely start to the week, yesterday was sewing at Port Arlington...I pinned the side hexies onto the border of the hexie quilt and have one part nearly sewn on...pretty exciting!!!

Sue was working on some cathedral windows, love the fabrics in these, there was lots of other things happening but I didn't get any photos.

Today I have been to Seachange quilters over at Barwon Heads and had some wonderful help quilting the Minions quilt. The Three Musketeers, Pat, Heather and  Valma  have also just learned to use the machine so they were happy to have another go.

We had everything happen to us today that I think could have happened, we made a mistake and had to unpick, (groan!!) then the needle fell off...that was scary!!.....the bobbin ran out mid run ..talk about lots of learning experiences!!!

But we got it done and I am very happy with it!

Here and there

We have had a busy time the last few days and not a lot of sewing has happened. We had settlement on the new (to us) house on Friday, so on Saturday morning we moved some things in, just a car load for me, I lost count of how many times I walked up and down the stairs both here and there.

Then Saturday afternoon we drove to Queenscliff ad got the ferry to Sorrento, big experience for the Supervisor, he did not like the stairs so we had to take him on the lift!!!

The  we drove to Neerena (2hrs)and found our friends at their holiday place.

They have 5 acres in beautiful dairy country, it reminds me of NZ.

Jenny and I did some geocaching in the evening

I love these ducks by the pond, which was full of frogs!!

We went for a walk along the Great Southern Rail Trail, we did a return trip of about 6km, punctuated with finding geocaches!!!

The supervisor was ok on the ferry home, just not sure about what was going on!!

I didn't get a lot of sewing done but some bits and pieces

Busy days

The  last few days have zipped by, we have had Dr visits to the city..one more to come this week, hopefully they will ease off from now on.
I went to sewing with the St Leonards girls today

but first this is the floor at St Vincents, in the old part of the hospital....love the hexies!!!!

Kaths clamshells are growing each week

so are Marys

Linda has been working on this quilt as you go quilt for a grandson using the twisted four patch blocks. Love how it is working out.

I did some more stitching on the Minerva quilt.....taking a break from the hexies that are getting a little closer to finishing!!

FNWF update

I was sewing away last night and hubby was organising dinner, his night to cook, which means he orders in pizza, only to ring and find they had run out of gluten free bases!!  No pizza for me, so we decided to have fish and chips instead!! Meant I had to go and get it but at least I didn't have to cook. I did manage to get quite a lot done so I was a happy sewer!

I made one more New Hexagon block, this project has been sadly neglected!

and the binding and hanging sleeve are on the wall hanging...just need to stitch down the sleeve edge. Wobbled off to bed at 11.15pm!!! Happy but tired!!

Today I have been to a UFO day at Port Arlington, soup and rolls were supplied for lunch and much chatting and sewing happened

it took me from 10.30 until 2pm to make this star block, not perfect but I am happy with it, it will go with the other Star blocks I have made...it is called the Pinwheel Star, there was quite a lot of unsewing today!!!

I also joined a challenge from the Gisborne Quilters ...we were given a country and had to come up with a quilt, could be from postcard to one meter square... the country I was given was Finland. So after much pondering I decided to draw in chalk on the purple fabric, paint in some areas and then free motion quilt...this represents the mountains and the Northern lights.

Yes it has come around once again....Friday Night with Friends....you can sign up over at Cheryll's..she is our lovely host.

Yesterday I sat our in the sun and sewed, it was wonderful, I am planning on doing the same today

such hardship!! Lol!! It is good to have the table to work on.

Tupai had a swim after our walk today, gentle waves coming in, so he felt safe!!

Ethel ventured outside,although I think she is over dressed for today!!

and when I got back to the house I found this postcard in the mail box, I joined in the swap organised by Sheila, my card came from Eglea in Brasil. Isn't that pretty.

Off to sew and sit in the sun, then I have to think of what to do....the theme for water aerobics this afternoon is rock'n'roll and we are expected to dress up!!!!!

Yesterday

I was very happy as I FINISHED the main part of the hexie quilt!!! (Happy dance here!!)

But then the hard part started, measuring and cutting the border...scary stuff

lucky we have this space on the floor,although it is very hard on the knees crawling around on the floor!! After much head scratching and well meant advice from hubby the pieces re all together and I have started sewing the hexies to the border....might take me a while!!

the Supervisor wasn't much help!!!!

Yesterday I also finished off the Christmas present row

for the Christmas Row by Row...think I might add some bows after quilting

the quilting is finished on this wall hanging...now to find some binding and clean up all the endy bits on the back!

Also yesterday was sewing at St Leonards....have a look at Jill's clamshells

the tide was very low today when the supervisor and I went for a walk, the sunshine is great though!!

Sewing sewing.....

I have been beavering away on the hexie quilt....I feel like it looks like the same photo every time I put it here but I have added the last row and now and filling in with the black hexies

while waiting for David at the dentist this afternoon I made 2 black flowers ready to sew in tonight. There is lots still to be done but I can seethe end in sight!!!!

Monday I went to the Bellarine Quilters sewing day,we had a visit from one of the ladies who works for Bethany,she gave us a short talk on what they do, then was presented with several quilts...25 I think.

Today I have been to Seachange quilters and had a wonderful morning stitching (hexies) and chatting.

I suppose I had better get some dinner organised...would rather be sewing the hexies!!!
