This and that

Not much in the way of results has been happening here the last few days
Some cutting has been done for the next Kaleidoscope Block, the hard ones are yet to be cut!!

The heap represents 10 International Sisters blocks ready to be sewn.

This Old Time Kaleidoscope block is finished.

I spent 2 hours in the front garden yesterday weeding, despite the mulch the weeds are very happy with the rain and sun they are growing happily.
I have done a little more tidying in the sewing room today as we are soon to be connected to the NBN and I need to make room for the new box and I am told the phone now has to plug into the box too, so some rearranging needs to happen. At least I have given the dust bunnies a bit of a fright!! I am off now to continue with some sewing.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday morning was beautiful down at the beach

The Supervisor enjoyed plodding along and had a little play with some other dogs we met.

the daffodils caught my eye with the late afternoon sun on them yesterday. Today we have rain and cold, no sunshine!!

The Aussie Hero quilt is finished and in the mail, he requested Star Wars and Black and he is a Kiwi, hence the attempt at NZ in the bottom left corner.
Sandy of Shiralee Stitches very kindly sent me a piece of left over fabric, to cut the last two kites I needed. I was very careful cutting last night!! Sandy found the piece in the scrap bag!! How lucky was I!! I hope to have this Old Time Kaleidoscope Block finished tonight. We shall see!!
Happy stitching.

Feeling good

Today I wrote myself a list of things I wanted to get done in the day, I often do that but also often do not get much ticked off, but  the list is cleared!! Yay!!
That fuzzy pink thing is a galah that seems interested in the bird box in our yard. I hope they nest there this spring!

The seedlings are planted in the vege garden.

Three more International Sisters joined the family. The beautiful blue fabric is from Lin of St Victor Quilts. Lin very kindly offered to send me some fabric to make a Sister. The fabric she sent is late 1970's early 1980's Laura Ashley, it was beautiful to sew and I love the blue. Thank you very much Lin.

Twenty two more One Block Wednesday blocks have been made...only 105 to go!!

I was walking down at the beach yesterday afternoon, these ships were way across the bay

this pelican landed as I walked down the path

and then took off again.

This man was heading out for some exercise, the water was very calm for him luckily.

Signs of spring are happening here.

I decided I needed a pin board to keep things where I could find them, so I got some pin board at Bunnings, the kind man there cut it for me, hubby took over and put the timber top and bottom. Today a builder called to check on some work hubby wants doing and I asked him the best way to put the board up, 5 mins later it was up and ready to use. Too small a job for him to come back for he said so I will do it now! Wonderful man!! Project completed!
Off to do more Sister blocks now.
Happy stitching.

This and that

This is a bit of a catch up post of things that have been happening over the last week or so.
Two Saturdays ago it was the Guild AGM, here is a little of the show and tell, this flimsy above was found in the US and purchased for not much money, the owner was looking for suggestions for quilting.

One of the quilt shops in Geelong, Jiddys,  is closing down sadly and everything is one sale,

a few of my purchases, batik fabric, and a Christmas bag, fat quarters and thread

also fat quarters, a pattern, Xmas fabric, thread and embroidery thread. I might go back for another visit, the shop closes September 30th.
I decided I needed a peg board in the sewing room to store cutters and all the other bits and bobs you seem to gather, so I bought the board, The Bunnings man kindly cut it for me,

at home hubby took over adding the mounting board top and bottom, now I am just waiting for it it be attached to the wall.

I have sewed the binding on to the Star Wars quilt, I wasn't paying proper attention and sewing it on the front first instead of the back, luckily the front has mostly black so the stitching line does not show up too much. Next job is to get all the fluff off the black fabric and write a letter to go with it. It will be in the post early this week hopefully.
Happy stitching.

Grand Day Out.

I feel a bit like this post should be about Wallace and Gromit with a heading like that!!
But I can assure you Jill and I did not go to the moon!!
We went to Mornington to see the Stitch Fest quilt show. The show was wonderful, the people we met lovely, there were lots of wonderful shops....mmmm. But I will show you a few of the quilts in show
waiting to board the ferry, there was a strong northerly wind blowing and so the crossing was not very calm! We were both a little green when we got off at the other end!!

my view from the front of the ferry. We got off the ferry at Sorrento then had about a 35 minute drive to Mornington.
But on to the good stuff...

I have this pattern, might be inspired to actually make it now!!

This quilt is stunning.

as is this one.

The panel came from Townsville, this was one of my favourites. Love the beach feel, the birds and the quilting was amazing.

this was also stunning.

This info belongs to the quilt below, as I have written letters all my life and miss receiving letter my parents used to write to me. Love getting mail in the box sometimes though.

There were several quilts on display featuring one of the groups members, this quilt was beautiful and had so much work in it! Detail below.

Leaves and flowers from the side of the quilt

Ivy leaf detail

beautiful detailed little birds.

So many beautiful quilts, it was overwhelming.
We did a little shopping, had a cuppa and cake and then headed home.

A huge container ship we passed on the way.

A change in the weather is coming from the west! Fortunately we got home ok, the water was calmer and the rain didn't come until I was well home.
All in all a grand day out.
