I walked down to sewing group this morning. Looking back the way I had come.
Pelican sitting at the end of the boat launching ramp
Two pelicans sitting on the light near the fish cleaning bench
they were busy cleaning themselves, I could hear the clack, clack of their beaks
nearly at the end of my walk.
Heading back home after sewing
flowers in the sand
I had part this of the beach to myself
the pelicans were still on the street light, well they looked like the same birds!!
then a third flew in, pelican on the left sleeps on!!
the higher up bird did not last long, it flew off, did a circuit, came back and missed the post so went down to the water.
the Old Time Kaleidoscope block is coming along well, have started adding the outer border.
Yesterday afternoon I carefully cut and carefully sewed these blocks from a book Ingrid sent me, they are supposed to be 6 and a half inches square and of course mine are 6 and a half by 6 and a quarter!! I cannot work out where I have gone wrong. Very frustrating. The book is Perfect 5 Quilts, mmmmm...not perfect for me!
Ah well, must away and sort some dinner.
Happy stitching.
What a wonderful walk, I just adore those pelicans, I so wish we had them here! Your quilting is fantastic, as always. Here it's very cold, and it was misty. I enjoyed watching the sun rise up through the mist. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWonderful walk! I often have math issues when it comes to making quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pictures. It's getting colder here. Hoping the snow holds off a bit longer yet.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had lovely weather. We had the same blue skies and sunshine today, but it was only 35 degrees F! Smile. Hope you can figure out where your measurement is off - I know how frustrating that sort of thing can be. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIts been cold here this week so I envy you your beach walk. Your kaleidoscope block is looking great. xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful walk to your sewing group..
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing where Pelicans manage to perch..
Epp blocks is lovely and I also find some blocks tricky.
How wonderful to walk to sewing along a beach, and notice the pelicans. That is just the pleasantest thought! There are blocks that don't turn out right the first time. I usually try again, and it usually comes out okay. I can never figure out what makes the second ones different from the first ones, if they are or if they aren't. LOL
ReplyDeleteArrgghh frustrating blocks - hope they worked out the next time you tried? I love the close up shot of the Pelicans. Are they very noisy? How cool to be able to walk, and take such a lovely route, to sewing.
ReplyDeleteYour walk route is so beautiful!! I haven't seen a pelican for ages!! The Kaleidoscope block is looking lovely already. That's why paper piece everything, otherwise my blocks always end up being smaller than the actual size :D
