Monday Catch up

Well this post was supposed to happen yesterday, but my plans were interrupted and it didn't happen!
The view of the pier when I was out walking one morning.

Poppies read to be ironed in place on the Aussie Hero quilt.

I cut some more birds last Monday and they have been ironed in place on the Bird Quilt, now to decide what else to do with it.

It took two attempts, but the fish quilt for the oncology centre is now sandwiched and I finished quilting it yesterday.

Our speaker at the Guild last Saturday was Sandy, she is a local milliner and had many beautiful hats to show us, Lisa was her model.
Sandy donated a hat for our raffle

and guess who won it!! One very surprised and happy Lisa, it suits her perfectly.

One morning this week the pelicans and the seagulls were waiting for a feed, there were fishermen at the cleaning table cleaning their fish.

Sunday afternoon view out the sewing room window.

Sunday I made 6 bat wraps, to go to Queensland for any orphaned bats, they hug the pillow section and are wrapped to simulate their mothers wings.
How cute do these little guys look!!
You can find these patterns, just google The Animal Freestyle Craft Guild.

Last night I was happily stitching away, one eye on the TV, when I went to attach the next hexie.......mmmmmm...that does not look right..so some unsewing had to happen.

Today it was fixed and now there is one more to go! Yay! I am two behind at present and another one is arriving any day, so I had better get moving!
I can smell dinner so had better go and check it!
Happy stitching.

  5. Your first pic is very moody and atmospheric Sue. The poppies are going to look wonderful on that Aussie Hero quilt. Love the birds so much. Neat hats! Good work on the bat wraps. I am keen to try some too. Unsewing is a pain!

  10. Oh my, bat wraps! I never heard of that, but it makes perfect sense, and they are entirely cute. I like bats, personally. Your picture of the birds waiting for the fish cleanings made me smile. The pelicans are so much larger than the seagulls. I appreciate all the nature pictures you share here.

  11. The bat wraps are such a good idea. Wow you are really rolling out the quilts at the moment :-) Love your applique ones - it will be fun to see what you do next with them. The hat talk at Guild looks like it was a fun affair.
