I didn't take the camera when I went for a walk this morning, but later had a wander up the garden. Thankfully after the hot and windy weather we had yesterday most things in the garden are still ok.
I planted three hippeastrums this year and one had three flower heads, I am very pleased with that!!
another has a flower spike coming
the zygo cactus plant is bursting into bloom
Such beautiful big flowers on this one.
One small borage plant has become a mass of borage flowers and bees.
The fig tree is fruiting, the problem will be to beat the possums, fruit bats and rainbow lorikeets to the fruit.
Hubby planted these last year and they sulked, they were not happy, this year they are fantastic!
Love the red one.
The plum is laden this year, I will have to get out with the net and cover it very soon.
another of these lovely plants...and yes I have forgotten the name!!
Yesterday afternoon I cut and sewed these strips together...I got a new rotary cutter blade! What a luxury!! I didn't realise how difficult it was to cut with the old one!
These were the left over pieces, I stamped them with the little 1 inch cropped diamond
and cut them out ready to be sewn together. This is another one day project, when I am looking for some hand sewing.
You can see what other Wanderers have posted at this blog.
I am off to do some work on the Aussie Hero quilt.
Happy sewing.
Your garden is looking very lovely Sue. I wish I lived close & could pinch a cutting from your gorgeous cactus that's flowering. Those tall flowers look very much like Hollyhocks - they are often a bi-annual Sue ... so can take two years to flower properly. Yours look wonderful - mine often get rust. Have a great weekend Sue xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous garden! You live in such a pretty place. Having the right tools makes things so much easier. You probably wore the other rotary cutter out!
ReplyDeleteWonderful flowers! Love the fabrics, have fun with your new toy! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh so many beautiful blooms and soon nice fruit in your garden.
ReplyDeleteI need to change the blade in my rotary cutter too. Don't know why we keep using one when its nearly blunt.
The strips will come together quickly and the stamp for the diamonds is a great idea.
Happy Aussie Quilt sewing.
Beautiful flowers... Happy stitching
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures from your garden Sue. Those fabrics look rather nice! xx
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I had your weather right now!! :) That cactus flower is simply gorgeous! So happy I visited, it was a lovely "wander"! :)
ReplyDeleteDitto to what everyone else said
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks lovely
We all seem to try and use our rotary cutter blades for way to long
Happy stitching and gardening and photographing
Stunning selection of beautiful blooms... xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden. I agree with Julie about the tall plants being hollyhocks... and the cactus is looking amazing.... great to see the sewing get done.... I haven't seen the printing the shapes before... is is a special ink you use.... interesting. I do like the fabrics in your strip quilt too.... oh yes, it's amazing the difference when you change your blade... realise just how hard you have been having to press down to cut with the old one
ReplyDeleteHugz

ReplyDeleteHave good Weekend
Elke
Beautiful photos of your garden pretties....love Hippeastrums! Lots of lovely fruit on your trees....and yes a feast for all the critters if you aren't quick lol! Gee that stamp is a great idea xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers! The cactus looks amazing. So nice to see the beach.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks.
Happy quilting.
Yep, hollyhocks. I change my blade and my sewing machine needle on the first of each month, and clean out the lint in the bobbin race, too. =) Your garden is amazing, and the fruit seems to be coming on quickly! I look forward to seeing your piecing proceed. I noticed you did some fussy cutting there.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is doing well Susan, it is obviously well loved! I love those Hollyhocks. And great to see the fruit too. Speaking of possums, a hunter got 500 possums off our place over the weekend!! Hehe, nice to see I'm not the only one with 'One Day' projects!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so colorful, from the hippeastrums to the hollyhocks to the cactus. The size of that zygo flower is out of this world! Your crop of plums and figs is bountiful - I hope you can get at least some of them to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am so loving your garden! I just moved and have to start all over, so your colors make me smile :)
ReplyDeleteMy Corner of the World
Your garden is doing really well, Sue! Beautiful flowers! I am horrible with plant names, so I started keeping a garden journal as I continue to work and modify our new garden. I am sooo lazy with changing the blade, but once I do, I always wonder why it took me so long! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up on Wandering Camera! I love it!
