Progress

well, progress of a sort, I have sewn some more One Block Wednesday blocks, so I felt like I had caught up, but today is Wednesday so now I am not sure if I have or not!!
Woo hoo 24 done!! Fiona over at BubzRugz is also doing this sew along....it is great to have company. Elyte of Tea, fabric and other things is also sewing along, but this month is busy for her so she will catch up later.

I had my system all set up, pieces laid out ready to sew, should have been straight forward but

I still managed to sew wrong bits together and some pieces in completely in the wrong place! Happily they are all fixed now.

The binding is finished on this quilt for others.

The Supervisor and i had a walk along the beach yesterday morning, it was overcast and we got caught in a rain shower but it was a beautiful morning.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Portarlington for sit and sew and parked near this tree that I am now calling a Corella tree, it is not a good photo but the tree is laden with Corellas, I don't know what was on the tree but it must have tasted pretty good. The birds on the ground were eating the bits that were dropped.

I was being watched while I took photos.
I am off now to write a couple of letters.
Happy stitching.

This and that

This weekend has been a bit of everything, I have had an Aussie Hero quilt to get finished, and several for the hospital to get binding on, so this weekend was a binding weekend, mixed in with dvd watching and book reading!

A heap of quilts with binding machine sewn on one side, the far right one is finished!! Yay!

The desert rose is looking beautiful, more flowers coming.

This afternoon I have been cutting pieces for the One Block Wednesday blocks, catch up time tomorrow.

and the Minion quilt is nearly finished, I need to sew in all the endy bits from the quilting.
Quite a productive weekend for me, even managed to do a little gardening!

Football avoidance can be productive

Yes, last night the AFL was on so I returned to the sewing room
this quilt top was finished yesterday afternoon, might still add a border

this one I started last night, takes 5 fat quarters, which I just happened to have in my stash, this one needs borders too as it is a bit small for the oncology quilts I am hoping the quilt will make.
The colours look so much better out in the sun.
I went for a bike ride this morning and managed 7.2 km..pretty good for me, no doubt my legs will let me know all about it tomorrow!!
down Bluff Rd, and along Ibbotson

down the main road and around the lagoon

lots of birds in residence today

back along the beach and home.
This afternoon I am off into Geelong to see this movie
Tea with the Dames

looks like fun.
Have a wonderful day.

What a difference a day makes!

We sure have had a change of weather here in Victoria
Yesterday morning the Supervisor and I wandered along the beach

the sun was shining and the water was sparkling

today we have heavy rain showers and howling wind and the temp has dropped to 13 deg C as I am sitting here! The rain is most welcome. just not the storm that has come with it! We are ok here, but Hobart has flooding, not sure what is happening in Melbourne.
I have had a busy day, I took a quilt the quilters this morning, then came home and worked on the quilting for the owl/fox quilt , which is now finished
and ready to go in the post tomorrow, then because I felt like it,

I made a cover for my passport...just one of those things!! I have other things I should be doing but this what  felt right to do today!
Now as it is a cold evening I am off for a soak in the bath, with a G & T and a book before the pizza fairy arrives with dinner.
Happy weekend.

Hexies

are on the go again...I went to sit and sew this morning and managed to get these five hexie groups together
These are half and inch hexies and are for #4 on Doing the Rounds.

This afternoon I went into Geelong to see this movie,I remember the book well. I really enjoyed watching this..great movie.

Yesterday I started on a simple quilt, a panel, to go to a friend who is taking donations for a fundraising event later this month. The money is to go to a fund for 2 little children left behind after their mother was brutally murdered. So very sad. I hope this will bring someone happiness.

This morning I made a list

and this evening I am pleased to say all except one, have been crossed off, so I am feeling pretty happy with myself!
The rubbish bins are emptied and the bins ready to go out, washing is done, dry and in, spring bulbs are planted, Aussie Hero Quilt finished, clam shell quilt finished...
Tesselaar's up in the Dandenongs had a sale of their spring bulbs, so daffodils, freesias and peacock iris are now in the garden. The ground is very dry so I hope they do ok.

Sharkie just needs his label written on and a letter and a packet of Tim Tams and he is off in the mail.

All quilted and bound, the clamshell has a couple of endy bits to thread in and that is done. I tried free motion quilting over the top of each clamshell, in some places it is more free range than free motion, but it is a cuddly quilt and I love it.
Yesterday was UFO day at Bellarine. I talked and  listened a lot and talked some more, so the quilting I was supposed to be doing finally got done at home!

Sue J made these wonderful blocks for a QFO she is helping to make.

When I got home yesterday this rainbow drifted along the Bay

and this gorgeous face was waiting for me!

We spent the evening on the couch together

today we went for a morning walk, it was a lovely calm morning.

Last night I finished up anothee 4 hexies for Doing the Rounds..these ones are half an inch.
Best wishes
for a very happy week.

A finish

and some progress has been happening here
Miss Sheepy is finished, after some encouragement from Maria I did machine sewing on both sides of the binding...looks good on the top, on the bottom the stitching has come on and off the binding...I hope I will improve with practice!  Sure finishes off the quilt a lot quicker than hand sewing, although I do enjoy the hand sewing.
I have three more sections on the go for Doing the Rounds, one appliqued, the other two pinned in place. Slowly getting there
The Supervisor and I had a walk along the beach this morning, we only met one other dog today, it was very quiet
lots of weed has been washed in, in the last day.

there are lots of young fairy wrens bounding around in the bushes..luckily this one stayed still long enough for me to get the camera out

this little one was lower down in the bush

spotted this interesting hole in the cloud

and saw this coming, right before we saw lightening and heard thunder, the Supervisor leapt 6 inches in the air and looked all around for the maker of the LOUD noise...thunder does not usually bother him, but outside it must be different.

more cloud travelling towards Melbourne.
We got a little rained on before we got home and there was a heavy shower about 30 mins later, but not much else. The garden really needs lots of rain.
I have to head into Geelong this afternoon,so had better go get ready.
Happy stitching.

The Supervisor

and I have been walking every morning, enjoying the peace along the beach front now that Easter is over
To swim or not to swim, that was the dilemma facing Tupai
Later in the morning I rode down to the community space for sewing with the St Leonards girls, it was a beautiful morning

today was a bit more overcast

but lovely and calm
I went over to Clifton Springs this morning to do some geocaching, this area was very popular in the 1880's when people came by steamer boat from Melbourne to take the waters! There were baths here, a spa and you could buy the bottled water that came out of the ground.

This is the remains of one of the bottles that used to be used here, they were shaped like a torpedo.
the remains of the old pier

this bird was looking for food but keeping an eye on me too
once back home and after having lunch, I was putting some things away when I found this box, it is full of fabric scraps, most are cut in two and a half inch squares, so I started sewing a few together

and ended up with this! Mmmmmm I do not need a new project at the moment!

Because I started this yesterday,I found this cute panel at Tracey's Discount Fabrics in Geelong and couldn't help myself...just love the sheep!! I have managed to go crooked off the backing on one side so need to fix that..that might be my challenge for tomorrow night as it is
a night of virtual sewing with friends from around the world.
Hosted by Cheryll of Gone Stitchin', you can sign up over at Cheryll's to join in.
Happy sewing.
