Big learning curve!

Today I have been wrestling with this fabric covered cord and boy have I wrestled!!! It was really hard to get under the walking foot of the machine and then to get it to sew!
somehow I don't think it is supposed to look like this! Lol!! My fault as I forgot to put the walking foot down! Duh! Too many things to think of at once while wrestling!!

Ok, looks a little messy but we are at least sewing! Phew!!

OOPS!! Every now and then the zig zag stops and I get straight sewing and a hole! Mmmmmm...not sure what I am doing wrong here! Will go back later and hand sew the gap closed....
Got to 9 inches for the base...looks messy but at least this is the inside...now I have run out of cotton, so have to make a decision....go with black or gray????  I think gray is the better choice, maybe??? Well I am now geared up for FNWF to get more of this done!! You can see other Friday night sewers over at Cheryll's place
Happy sewing!

Holiday

Such a beautiful day today, the wind has dropped just a little breeze floating through from the front to the back
was lovely to walk along the beach this morning...

the sewed heap is getting bigger this afternoon........

still chugging away....I ran out of cord so had to go and get some more, after visiting 2 hardware stores I had to get 6mm instead of 5mm, I didn't think it would make much difference, but it is a bit harder to get under the walking foot, will be interesting to see if it makes a difference in the finished product.....

Yay....heap on the floor is getting smaller, but I am not running out of cotton!!! Didn't think that one through did I! Lol!! Luckily I have 1 spare left....hope that is enough! Not wanting to do a trip to Geelong to get some more!

And of course the supervisor is never far away!
Happy sewing!

FNWF

Have signed up over here at Cheryll's for Friday Night with Friends...will be good motivation to get on with my sewing...pop over and see what other people are doing!

Have started my new project which is proving to be a lot more fiddly that I imagined, but I will persevere!!
Have managed to break one needle and get a few twists but think I have a handle on it now.......yet another learning curve...and really isn't that what quilting/sewing is all about!!
Happy sewing!

First finish for 2014

Today I finished the poppy blocks for the Aussie Hero Quilts their blocks for Nov, Dec and Jan.
Managed to make 30 so was chuffed with that......

this is part of my next project, but the forecast is for better weather tomorrow so it might not happen! Lol! There could be some sitting reading in the sun to happen!

The bay looks better this afternoon, was very gray and uninviting this morning.
Happy sewing!

Holiday

Well today is a shocking day outside, howling wind and passing showers....perfect day to be inside sewing, so I am working on the poppy blocks, but have been distracted by all the corner bits left over....having known Tania for a while and been encouraged not to waste fabric, I decided to sew a few triangles together and see what happened.....now I am completely distracted from what I was going to do and am playing with tiny triangles and squares......well nearly squares, my cutting is not the best so some are different sizes, to be honest most are different sizes, but I am having fun!!!
lots and lots of little bits, slowly turning into squares....

this is what I should be doing.....not too many more to do....
my heap of bits!!!
Happy sewing!

Holidays

We went over to Point Lonsdale yesterday to get some photos of the light house for DH to use as pastel subjects........the weather was beautiful going over, but very windy, but once we got to the beach we could see a change coming from Oceangrove direction

Most amazing clouds today!

Time to go home I think and do some sewing!!
Happy sewing!

Holidays

Having a lovely time at St Leonard's...sitting  in the sun , walking on the beach, reading in the sun, reading late in bed in the morning, more reading.....and sometimes some sewing or knitting, but today we went on a 10km walk from Point Lonsdale to Ocean Grove along the beach. We awoke this morning to cloudy skies but it cleared as we drove to Point Lonsdale, the clouds came back and when we started the walk it rained and there was a 16 knot wind howling into our faces, followed up by 21 knot gusts!! Lovely I thought!!! What a great way to spend the morning....I could be in bed reading!!! Lol!! But as we walked the weather got better and we finished in sunshine....and managed to walk the 10km in 1 hour 50 mins....I was so busy talking at the end I forgot to look at the timer!!!
Having trouble with the photos so will be back soon!! I'm back!! Had to go search for the cord for the camera....holiday brain is happening!! Tee Hee!!
Here we go.....

closer to Ocean Grove the weather improved
squishing in to photo with DH and Eileen a work colleague..just before we started...woops , had the cursor in the wrong place and the photos have swapped.....
walking...walking......

we made the finish in 1 hour 50mins!!!! Yay!!!!
Happy holidays!
We had a great display of fireworks near the house on new Years Eve
and we have had some wonderful weather
not so good today, but hopefully the sun will return!
