Wandering me

Yesterday was the day to link up with Soma at Whims and Fancies for Wandering Camera
I had to go over to Drysdale this morning and while I was out decided to drive on to Ocean Grove and get a breath of ocean air.
the tide was out

which is really good for walking

and taking the dog for a walk...love a good zoom lens!

a few tidal pools remained

the waves rolled in

someone left their gumboots behind at the beach

someone was waiting for a feed.
Two Aussie Hero quilts went in the mail yesterday
this request was for books and reading

this one the flag, remembrance, poppies, army and names...covered it all!
Christmas has made an appearance in our house...in a small way

tree is up, it has been lovely seeing the hand made decorations I have been given over the last few years. Brings back lots of good memories.
I am off outside to enjoy a little sunshine and read a book while I can.

Changed my mind

After seeing a finished beautiful Doing the Rounds quilt on Instagram with circles on the flowers I have changed my mind (again) and decided to do the same.

Some still look a little wonky but I now think it finishes them off better and I can still see my progress along the way. It is now definitely finished.I have sewn together the backing and ironed both pieces, it is ready to go and visit Leeanne at Quiltmekiwi for some magic.

Yesterday I put together a little baby quilt, it is going to hubbys cousin who has just become a great grandmother, she will forward it on to the babies mother.

Hubby woke me with a cuppa this morning and this was the beautiful sky!

Plugging away

Yesterday afternoon we went to visit Adam and Beth, hubby helped outside while I did binding stitching, even had a helper! Victor gave it a quick cat scan!! It was later deem suitable for sitting on!!

Aussie Hero quilt progressing slowly

I have been making some small hexies for a secret project

the binding is on the other Aussie Hero quilt, just the hand stitching to do.

a little bit of evening hand stitching  on the stars has been happening too.
Have risotto cooking for dinner, so had better go and check it, last time I burnt the rice to the pan! Woops!!
Happy sunny day.

This week

The mess on the back of the couch
became five quilts, backs and wadding ready for quilting. These are all quilt tops, donated by Guild members, for the Oncology Dept at the St John of God Hospital in Geelong.

Monday was sit and sew at Bellarine Quilters

and it was Jacquith's 89th birthday. Some of the ladies had made her a quilt to celebrate.

The Supervisor and I went out for a walk most mornings despite the changeable weather

We even spied this man out swimming! Must have been very cold!!

Last week Dianne (on the far left) and I took 22 quilts made by the Bellarine Quilters to Bethany. They were very happily received and will be given out to families before Christmas time. We were told there is much demand for these quilts.

Things are coming along in the garden, this Christmas lily is nearly ready to open

this cactus is covered in flowers now

the Supervisor came to help measure out some wadding this morning, but then went to sleep on the job!!

Aussie Hero quilt ready for pinning

and this one has wadding cut, just need to find the backing and it is also ready to pin.
I had better head of and get that pinning done.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Upcycled Archibald

Yesterday was Guild day and the unveiling of  the Upcycled Archibald quilts. We were all given a bag with lace, applique pieces   buttons and braid and were encouraged to use everything in our portrait. Here are a few, sadly I didn't get photos of them all

Tracee of Farmgatecreations made the beautiful quilt third from the left, it has so much detail in it.
You can see from the page attached to the quilt, the pieces Tracee started with.

Photo bombed by Mrs Perry

It was such a great challenge and we had 20 entries, the best for ages. It was also wonderful to see all the different interpretations of a portrait and how people used the bits and pieces they had.
And

Here is Donna's entry “A Pawtrait of Queen Elizacat I. Donna was winner and viewers choice for this challenge. This is based on her cat Sherman the Birman. The face and paws are beautiful needle felted pieces and the dress sari fabric. It is just stunning.
the cats eyes look at you no matter where you stand.

Here is my finished Masked Lady.
The supervisor and I had a walk along the beach this morning, today I got a talking to because another mans dog was off lead???? Not sure how it was my problem or why I was responsible!!

It is a beautiful day, I zoomed in on a ship coming into the Bay

lots of boats heading out fishing today.
I had better get moving, the washing needs to  be hung out and I have backings to sew together and iron and batting to cut!! But it is a sunny day and my book is calling.....
Have a wonderful day.
